Extended Mag for M&P Shield 9MM

  • A quick review showing the fit and quality of the ProMag industries 10 rd mag for the Shield in 9mm. I ran into some problems with the spacer being too large not allowing the magazine to probably seat itself into the mag well. With a little bit of sanding fixed this issue. With a few sharp edges and a slight lack of texturing the mag is still worth its $28 in cost.

    Thanks for doing this. You just saved me from making a $15 mistake. After watching, I pulled this Promag out of my cart at Midway and added back the 8 round S&W factory mag. Unfortunately those cost $10 more but I'm pretty certain I will not have to file it down to get it to fit or return it.

    I ordered one and when it came I could not fit 10 rounds into it. After calling the company they told me that they had a bad run and would replace it when a new run came in. After the second one came to me it also would not fit 10 rounds. They agreed to have the next one they sent me "tested" by the the support folks. It got here yesterday and it did fit 10 rounds, but it was very difficult to fit the last two rounds. I think maybe the spring and follower may need some further engineering to fix this.

    Personally I don't think I could show enough footage for you to get that idea. I have never had a failure to feed with the shield and certainly not when I was using the promag. I will consider it when I go home on leave over the holidays otherwise I don't have it at my current station.

    u should make a video of u shooting your shield with the pro mags, I'm really curious if they are reliable

  • @CPRebels21
    @CPRebels21  8 років тому

    For making the statement that they could be used in a combat situation was a statement toward their quality not their application in one (round capacity, weapon size, etc). The quality of the magazine's are better than those issued to be used in combat from my experience. To make it more clear, the shield isn't a combat practical weapon so the magazine made for them can't be either.

    A good solution for that mag will be some sanding and just put talon grips and you will be fine... nice vid ;-)

    Adam, thank you for sharing this video. Can you clarify the following statements you made please:
    " I'll tell you they are way better than what I can given to use in a combat situation so yes."
    They are way better than what I WAS (?) given to use in a combat situation? Or is this a hypothetical 'can be given to use..."?
    "Practical use for them not really"
    What does that mean? Didn't you just say they made/can make a lot of practical sense being used in a combat situation?
    Thank you.

    can you remove the fat spacer so it looks like the clip is hanging out like you can do with the pinky extension one?

    • @CPRebels21
      @CPRebels21  5 років тому

      You can remove the spacer on the magazine so you will be able to see the metal portion of the magazine extending from the base of the grip.

    Bought 2 for my bodyguard, same BS wobbly spacer issue. Mag fits & locks fine but spacer moves all over hell and back while you are shooting. Doubt I buy any for the shield, probably just go with magguts +1 kits.

    Bought 2 of the 10 rd mags for $15 each. Total crap. Doesn't lock in easily and is almost impossible to fill mag with 10 rounds.
    I'll stick to factory mags from now on.

    what magazines are those called? I'm trying to find 17 round mag for my M&P Shield

    • @CPRebels21
      @CPRebels21  8 років тому

      Not quite sure on the name and I can't check as I don't have the packaging with me at my station. I also doubt they would make a 17 round mag for it, you would run into feeding issues with the amount of the magazine be unstable (not in the mag well).

    I bought one for my 9mm M&P shield - the 10 round version, SMI 28. The first one would not lock in. I had to mail it in, at my expense. The second one only locks 50% of the time without slamming it home. None of my S&W mags have this problem. The spacer does not fit well although the mag is made for the shield. I would not recommend this mag.

    • @CPRebels21
      @CPRebels21  8 років тому

      As I stated in the video, with slight modification the spacer can work well. Certainly it is up to you if you want to buy the product and modify it so it works 100%.
