    Cool results. I’m 40% Indian, 53% African, 6% European, 0.3% Indigenous and 0.7% unassigned, it shows “Indian Diaspora” as one of my Communities. My mom’s main background was North Indian, Punjab specifically.

    • @pseudoguru9523
      @pseudoguru9523  3 роки тому +3

      Wow those are interesting results as well- I need to look more into the Indian diaspora - …When you say .3% indigenous, is that north, south, Central America? Or one of the Caribbean islands?

    • @staciiish
      @staciiish 3 роки тому +9

      @@pseudoguru9523 Yes, the Caribbean. In addition to my Indian background, I also have Jamaica as well to be exact. The indigenous people of Jamaica were Arawaks, see a little fun fact below: "The original inhabitants of Jamaica are the Arawaks, also called Tainos. They came from South America 2,500 years ago and named the island Xaymaca, which meant ““land of wood and water”. With regards to the Indian diaspora, my mom's ancestors were Indentured Laborers from India to the Caribbean (in the late 1800's, significant Indian populations taken to Jamaica, Trinidad, Guyana, etc) --hence one of my Communities is "Indian diaspora". If you have a parent directly from India, it probably wouldn't say "Indian Diaspora" but instead just "India" or something to that sort... We are all of a melting pot. :)

      @@pseudoguru9523 Yep, it's crazy indeed, and ppl have mistaken me to be Dominican (stereotype I guess). And to be honest even though 0.3% indigenous is basically nothing, I really wasn't expecting to see any indigenous as I was told they've became “extinct” especially in the non-hispanic islands shortly after the arrival of Christopher Columbus, so very surprising that I got 0.3% lol. I only knew about the Afro-Jamaican and North Indian background.

      Huh? There were no Punjabis in the Caribbean. They weren’t ever recruited by the British, and were mostly staying in india to fight for the royal army

I'm actually on ancestry too after I paid for a separate kit with them following the initial MyHeritage test. The results are a bit different on Ancestry, but as I mentioned you can upload your Ancestry raw data file to heaps of other platforms which will all give you different ethnicity results based on each companies unique algorithm and reference populations. Some will be more consistent with each other than others, but you'll be able to see a strong correlation of where they all agree. Definitely upload to MyHeritage, Gedmatch and the others I mentioned. I'll be curious to see your results on the other platforms. It gets addictive indeed!

    There’s a range of inheritance, You can inherit as much as 35% from a grandparent and as low as 20% For a great grandparent you can inherit as much as 17% and as little as 7% but the average is 12% Genetics are weird, it’s like shuffling a deck of cards.

    • @elainem6832
      @elainem6832 3 роки тому +2

      Can I please ask, how do you know you can inherit as much as 35% from a grandparent? I understand you will generally inherit 50% of your genes from your parents (each) & the actual proportion is not necessarily half from 1 parent & half from the other etc etc. But I’m interested to know where the research came from that explains as much as 35% can be inherited from one side - which means the other parent is only donating 15% of their genetic material to their child.
      The continent of Africa is huge and very diverse. You have black people with different features who live there. Not all black people look the same. Ok. peace and thanks 🙏😏
      Looking at all that Asian you have, are you sure you don’t also have some family (Indian) from one of the British colonies. Sir Africans are also good at the math & science. Remember Egypt (Kemet), Mali etc, etc,

    • @pseudoguru9523
      @pseudoguru9523  3 роки тому +2

      @@elainem6832 Hola! I’m assuming that last little bit of the message you left was meant for me…Of course, I know all groups of people have individuals that are advanced in math and science. (And my father was born in Mumbai and is the first known person from his family to live outside of India so I imagine none of my Indian DNA is attributed to the British colonies in the Americas.)
      Me and all my friends are mixed/black and we all graduated with math/science degrees. I simply attributed the largest part of my life/talents, to the largest part of my DNA breakdown because of my specific history. I can’t come on a video and say I’m good at everything I’m good at, because of my African DNA breakdown…what would that leave for my other my regions?…so I tried to find little things here and there about my life that may link me to my different regions(that may show some noticeable exceptionalities in certain categories) so that they can be praised/appreciated.
      Imagine if I said my mental and physical abilities are all from my Indian background…would that sound right? What if I said my mental and physical abilities are all from my African side…would that sound right? The truth is, all of my mental and physical abilities are attributed to a complex mixture of several different factors that go beyond “Nature” and goes into “Nurture”(how we were raised).
      Since I’m 50% Indian and my father (who is 100% or near 100% Indian) is the math genius between my parents, I simply made the connection. It would not make much sense for me to say I inherited my innate ability for math from my mother, when she is not as advanced as he is in that category.
      In reality, the traits and characteristics of all groups of peoples on earth is fairly/approximately equal…but not exactly 100% equal (if we somehow were able to quantify it)…usually, you can find some traits and characteristics that are a bit more common in some groups than others. I like to praise these exceptionalities from the different groups.
      I know this is not the same as mathematical ability but just to steer away from mental characteristics for a second, let’s say, for example, you are a person with blue eyes…and you have one parent that is a blue eyed European and another parent that is a brown eyed African…it would make sense for you to say that your blue eyes are a European characteristic in this specific case. But does this statement mean that there are no people in Africa or of African decent that have blue eyes? No- it just a simple connection made based off of the information you have.
      I know all about Atlantis, the Pyramids, the different forms of ancient math, etc. that Is attributed to Africa…id like to make some videos on Atlantis and the pyramids of Giza actually…but Europe, Asia, and the Americas have their own wonders of mathematics as well …the Bosnian pyramids, the Mayan pyramids/calendar, puma punku, etc.
      I hope this makes it clear that intelligent people may come from any part of the world whether it be India, a country in Africa, or anywhere else. I appreciate you letting everyone else know about the greatness of Africa as well. Thank you 🙏🏾

    3% of any ethnicity is actually quite a bit. It likely means you have ancestor around 5 generations back, give or take a couple of generations, that was 100% native Carribean, which should be findable. Any Catholic parish records from the 1800's, from anywhere in the western hemisphere could possibly identify someone as being indiginous. In the French Catholic parish records of what are now Missouri & in Québec, in the 1600's & 1700's, priests used the French terms "sauvage" or "sauvagesse" to refer to native americans. I'm sure Spanish Catholic parish records would be similar.

      I might have to buy my brother a test and make him do it because being part Māori is pretty special considering they got colonised and almost were bred out. We (my brother and I) kind of share that in common because the same happened to the Scottish and Irish, they got abused if they spoke their native language and were made to speak English and they had a lot of their land taken from them and were basically treated like dirt which is really sad.

    Your results were quite interesting. I wouldn't have guessed you were that much Asian by looking at you. When thinking about it, I've met Asians of all kinds. I think Asian might be more of an ethnicity than a race. I mean, the white Asians looked nothing like the black Asians I've met, for example. While I can't say for sure, I think it's more common for them to be white or mixed. My family is black American. We range in skin tone from brown-skinned (like you) to very dark-skinned. Interestingly, Native blood showed up in our results 10%+.
    The other thing that shocked us was that none of us had much white DNA. We just assumed we would. Oh, another interesting thing has happened to my siblings and I. Whenever we've gone to casinos close to Native reservations, random people come up to us and tell us that they can see the red and yellow undertones in our skin. We brushed it off -- until we took DNA tests.

      Wow that is very mystical!…Native American blood hits differently due to the history and current state of the Indigenous peoples …to have over ten percent Native American DNA is not small at all and definitely ties into your deep roots here in America.
      Also, on a side note, before I read that you were black American, I assumed you were most likely black or Dominican because I’ve had a pretty consistent experience when people of different backgrounds guess what I am…Indian people think I look Indian…Black people think I look Black/mulatto…and Dominican/Latino people think I look Dominican…I’m so glad I carry features from all three of these groups! THAT IS WHY, THERE ARE A LOT OF INDIAN PEOPLE IN THE CARIBBEAN ISLANDS, ESPECIALLY, IN TRINIDAD. IN TRINIDAD AND JAMAICA, THEY EAT A LOT OF CURRY BECAUSE OF THE INDIAN INFLUENCE THERE.

    Why would you assign your interest in math and science to India, purely? Just curious.

    • @pseudoguru9523
      @pseudoguru9523  2 роки тому

      Thank you for asking! To satisfy your curiosity -> I know all groups of people have individuals that are advanced in math and science.
I hope this is clear but if not, then maybe I’ll have to make a video on this because you are not the first person to comment this, lol…
      I know all about Atlantis, the Pyramids, the different forms of ancient math, etc. that are attributed to Africa…id like to make some videos on Atlantis and the pyramids of Giza actually…but Europe, Asia, and the Americas have their own wonders of mathematics as well …the Bosnian pyramids, the Mayan pyramids/calendar, puma punku, etc.
      I hope this makes it clear that intelligent people may come from any part of the world whether it be India, a country in Africa, or anywhere else.
      PS- If you check out the two other videos I posted right after this one, you’ll see that I talk about how intelligence is not as simple as some think it is. I speak about the 8 multiple intelligences because our society tends to have placed the most emphasis on logistics and linguistics when it comes to intelligence…but Bodily Kinesthetic, Interpersonal, Intrapersonal, Musical, Spatial, and Naturalistic Intelligence are just as important…yet often neglected. Thanks again 🙏🏾✊🏾💯
