Sam is not a technical person for sure. i could see he forgot to do something, my instant pot works fine, never had an issue with it..............it does not vent steam when it is cooking, only when it is done and does its cool down cycle...........

I think you changed my life with this one....off to try more recipes. I did not get a pressure cooker, I have a tiny galley kitchen, so I really have to keep my inventory limited, I used my LC dutch oven, I had a 3 1/2 pound pork shoulder and I cooked it for 4 1/2 hours in the oven after searing, melted in our mouths, just delicious, thank you!!!

Sam, just made this over in Scotland. Hands down the best pulled pork meat I've ever made. The sauce was magnificent (wasn't sure about it at all before tasting) and the crunch of the onions topped it off nicely. Well done and thanks 👍
This is, by far, the best pulled pork sandwich I have ever made. Nearly everything is scratch made from the sauce, the slaw, all the way to the thin onion rings which offer such a wonderful texture component to the dish. The sauce is the MVP hands down final answer. First time I made the dish I sent a picture of it to my parents and they showed up at my door a half hour later not invited so they could have some. This recipe is straight fire!

Actually, he may have opened it rather than closed it. Different machines have vents that close in different directions. It depends on your model. Steam is not supposed to vent from the top when it’s closed.

Hi Sam, I made this tonight and I want to say: It was excellent. I love that it wasn't as sweet and heavy as other pulled pork recipes. I had a bit of trouble finding the celery salt, as it's not an ingredient regularly used in Australia but I got there in the end. It was well worth the effort.
This video not the recipe (even though it looks delicious) is why I always come back... This is the only channel that I've seen that shows the real deal in cooking... No editing no everything in it's place but the real aggravation hence a delicious meal later but annoying af time when composing a dish... Love the channel for the real no nonsense kitchen bs (and great recipes) 😊

Great little sandwich here. Looking forward to trying this recipe myself. Also the pressure cooker might have lost one of the rubber gaskets and float valve during cleaning. I recently had the exact same issue and ordered some replacements on Amazon fairly cheap and fixed my prob right away.

If you don't have a pressure cooker you can use a crock pot and get the exact same results, just takes a few hours longer. I usually put mine in before work and when I come home it's ready, and the house smells incredible. Thanks for another excellent recipe. Love the fried onions, nice touch! 👍

I made this today, and it was incredible. Only difference was that I let the meat marinate in salt and the spices overnight, and used mustard instead of oil. The results are incredible from the pressure cooker....next time i will add liquid smoke to get the full bbq experience

Love that you had the same questions about whether the pressure cooker is working or not. Had the same questions when I was making ribs. Asked aloud for about 30 minutes "Is it working!? I don't think its working ..." Guess what, it was working, just takes forever when there is that much meat in there ... hunger and patience rarely exist at the same time.
After all the trouble Sam had making this I felt obligated to make it. BTW it truly was fantastic, and I HATE coleslaw, but this coleslaw was actually pretty good.
He probably got so mad when he figured that out or someone told him later. Usually After me yelling “ Sam! You forgot the garlic! “ just minutes later he focuses & boom he gets it.

Just had this tonight. It was our first instant pot recipe and our first Sam the cooking guy recipe we tried. It was DANK! The leftover heat from the Chipotle chili powder is warm in your throat and belly. Just with seasoning alone it is great!
The instant pot has to be put on sealing in order to create pressure. You had it on venting. The little know on top will show you which is which. It doesn't lock unless it's on sealing. Try that next time. Love your show.
My best ribs come out of my pressure cooker. I've done every which way and we prefer the PC. In less than an hour you have some falling off the bone baby backs!
Just an FYI for anyone having the issue with the pressure cooker not coming to pressure, check the silicone seal in the lid. I use an Instant Pot and have had this issue before. It was because my seal wasn’t “seated” properly. If you make sure it’s in the right place and it’s still not coming to pressure, get a new seal. No need to get rid of the whole cooker…unless something else is wrong with it/the lid. Also, I like to use meat/bear claws (plastic) instead of forks to shred my meat because I cannot deal with the nails on chalkboard sound/feel with metal forks/utensils. Plus they are really wide, so they shred the meat faster. I get them at the dollar store. They look kinda like brass knuckles but with teeth or claws. They literally look like a bear’s claw. They have the added bonus of helping to release pent up stress/anger from going to town ripping the meat apart. 😂 Great video/recipe! Can’t wait to try it!

Mayb the pressure cooker wouldn’t lock bcuz the pressure switch was open and it couldn’t build to temp?? Idk just an idea never used one before.
It wasn't sealing because you had the pressure valve set to open. If it was closed then steam wouldn't have been pouring out the top.

Also, I like to use meat/bear claws (plastic) instead of forks to shred my meat because I cannot deal with the nails on chalkboard sound/feel with metal forks/utensils. Plus they are really wide, so they shred the meat faster. I get them at the dollar store. They look kinda like brass knuckles but with teeth or claws. They literally look like a bear’s claw. They have the added bonus of helping to release pent up stress/anger from going to town ripping the meat apart. 😂

This is great! Also, if you didn’t already, check the pressure cooker lid! My seal was out of alignment once and it wouldn’t come to pressure!
