Hi Liz! As a fellow picky fabric thrifter and amateur sewer, if I find a piece that I absolutely love the fit of but hate the fabric/pattern/etc. I buy the piece, seam rip into its parts, and use it as a pattern! Just buy whatever fabric you want, place the pieces on it and sew it back together! (That polka dot dress seems pretty complicated, but definitely for easier things) also great if you just need to size something up or down! Basically a working pattern for like $4 😉
I recently bought a dress from the thrift to do this! I like the dress and the stretchy material but I hate the color pattern on the dress. Plus its a wee bit too large. But it should make a great sewing pattern!
honestly while editing I was like... yeah seeing my reactions in the moment the jacket was the more obvious yes hahah. it feels a little further outside how I usually dress than the blouse, but I'm super excited to play around with both pieces!
I'm surprised you didn't get the white dress just because I feel like with your style you could easily style it down for ordinary occasions? The feel does make a big difference though. So maybe too hot for tea party/picnic type occasions.
You are a stronger thrifter than I -- I am always SO tempted by the unique pieces I find, even if they don't really fit my style, and when I bring it home, it just sits in my closet! 😅
I feel seen by "I had a list of what I needed and I bought absolutely nothing from the list". Love! Team Shoulder pads! I also feel that they are important for the shape. And concerning the green blouse: If you find you don't wear the color you could consider dying it. Where I live, you can get fabric dye that works really easy in the washing machine. It might be a nice type of thrift flip (just in case the color expansion doesn't work out).
I loved both of the pieces you chose! The red jacket was made for you…and keep those shoulder pads! They give the jacket an intriguing, but not odd shape. And I am SO glad you grabbed the blouse. It fits beautifully and the color looks wonderful on you.
I love the green floral top on you, greens look amazing with your coloring! I think those lighter greens look really good with darker shades of brown. Maybe that'll give you some styling ideas? The jacket is giving me serious Stranger Things vibes, which means I'm completely here for it! As an actual teen in the 1980's, I think it's likely from then as well. A total score! This was so much fun, Liz. Thanks for taking us with you! 🫶🏻🥰
Defo keep the shoulder pads, the shape looks great as it is! I thrifted an amazing cashmere/wool camel trench coat with shoulder pads that I thought I didn’t like, couldn’t bring myself to remove them or really wear the coat for like a year, but once I adjusted my expectations of how the coat fit to include them, I now love it. I wear it all the time and get SO many compliments on it, and the shoulder pads are what makes it stand out compared to every other camel trench you can buy on the high street!
Have you considered dyeing thrift store pieces that are a shape/fit you love but not the right color? I am just not a fan of pastels and so have done it a few times with thrift store pieces I otherwise loved - they’ve turned into staples in my wardrobe!
Youre my number one inspiration and im on vacation with limited clothes and money so everytime I see a video of yours, im like ITCHING to go home and diy/upcycle and thrift 😭😭
The shirt at 8:58 when the ties were hanging loose looked like a classic piece in a layered streetwear look. The shirt an 10:40 is seriously so pretty, like a fairy! In my opinion the green stripes on your blue shirt matches quite closely with the green on the top, too. 11:16 is the cutest. Like a snowlady.
omg such good finds! the silhouette of the green blouse is sososo good! also obsessed with the polka dot dress, but i get why you’d leave it behind!!! the jacket was a cool find too!
I’m so glad you got the green shirt. I started watching your channel because of your Minju Kim video and when I saw that top on you I was like, ooooh she’s doing it again!
I actually loved the dress at 11:13! I personally thought it was not too long, but I'm also a knee length fan, so... Of course it all comes down to what you feel comfortable in. The two pieces you got are great, excited to see them styled in future videos!
Honestly the green shirt was the wild card for me, I was surprised that you chose it. You definitlely made the right choice with the red jacket tho, it's so cool and fits you so well!!
I love the shape of that blouse! If you eventually find that the apple green isn't speaking to you, you could easily dye it to tone it down to a sprucier green.
As a shoulder pad enthusiast, i say keep 'em! They can really change the silhouette and be a fun addition to the outfit. Great video! It's nice to see when a thrift outing doesn't work as planned, like what happens to me all the time 😂
I honestly love that you point out things that you think are beautiful but know are not your style/you wouldn't wear/ aren't a practical addition to your wardrobe. I've always had a problem with buying items and realizing once im home that they're cute but not for me. Seeing you do this in practice has really helped me develop a better ability to reflect and make wiser and more sustainable fashion choices 💕💕
Hey! Just wanted to thank you for sharing your approach to style! Lately I've been recommended a lot of kibbe/kitchener/seasonal color analysis type style content and that tends to make me very self conscious and overthink my clothing choices. But your videos and your joyous approach to style never fails to bring me out of that headspace! Thank you!
I have that same first dress you tried on. I love it & worn it in a couple different ways: one with a vest, ripped mom jeans and sneakers and one with a vest or belt, tights and boots.
I was not expecting a thrifting video but loving it- more please! I love thrifting in charity shops or looking in places like TKMaxx (or TJMaxx in the US) where you can find hidden gems. Im working my way through my milanote restyle as recommended in one of your previous videos so hoping this will be me with a wishlist soon!💓
Glad you got the green shirt. The neckline is so good. Greens and that exact red are amazing (!!!!) colors on you. Love the shorts and tee you styled the jacket with.
I have a video request! I would love to see a bunch of 'goblincore' outfits with stuff you already own.. I think it'd just be super fun. I feel like your style could work into it fairly well in your own way. Maybe it'd be less dark. Who cares. I think it'd be really fun to see what you come up with.
That floral tank top! 😍I love tiny floral print, I would have snatched that up in a second. The polka dot dress was so cute and fit you so well! I think that would be a cute date night dress with some black shoes and accessories! I am not surprised about your choices, the way you dithered over that jacket, put it back and then grabbed it again, you know it's a keeper! I think the green blouse is very you and will look very interesting with layering, but looks SO GOOD tucked in, I see the vision.
I sometimes can't stand thrifting videos but this one was a JOY to watch! I'm so glad you went with those two pieces. The white/green blouse gives so much dimension to play with, that was a great find! I honestly also loved the chiffon looking multicolored stripe top on you! I thought that was really fun and different. Would have loved to se what you could do with that one too! :)
Love the collection! Just wanted to let you know that silk is warm! Silk is a natual insulator, so silk pyjamas in the winter is a thin but warm option. There is however not that much natual fibers being 100% in clothes nowadays so might just aswell been a syntetic fabric :)
Truly impressed by your restraint in this vid. I have a tendency to talk myself into things when i want to have a "productive" shopping trip. Funny that you thought the jacket was the wild card... i think it's star of the show! And i love the color of the green blouse 💚 v erin go bragh
Love your vids for a variety of reasons, including as a fellow short girlie to commiserate over "mini" dresses that hit that awkward above-the-knee point
i loved the first white dress you tried on, so adorable! also, the colorful striped top is kind of a weird shape, but i can see you styling it in a cool way! and the jacket you ended up getting.. A M A Z I N G!
You should start dying thrift finds that you love but are in a colour you don’t gravitate towards! Some of my fav clothes in my closet are pieces I’ve dyed and given a whole new life
Video idea: style an outfit inspired by an accessory. Lots of times people will pick their base outfit, then accessorize. Do the opposite. Look at a pair of earrings/scarf/necklace you wanna wear, and use the colors/tones to pick the base layers!
I never mind simple things that are too big. I can make it smaller. white things never stay clean for me but I am collecting stuff to try dying. got a fun red color. the green blouse would be perfect in my wardrobe too.
Idk if you have checked it out but there's a combination Value Village/Unique thrift shop in Silver Spring that has a lot of good thrifting. It's like two diff stores attached by a flea market thing in the middle. I've found some nice natural fiber things (silk and linen!!) from the Value Village side & both stores are always v well stocked
Those high waisted, short dresses are exactly what I was wearing in the late 60s early 70s. I even had a maternity dress in 1969 that I had to wear tights with, only, they kept sliding down my huge belly.
If I came across that vertical striped top with the ties in a thrift store I would not hesitate for a second (well, I'd try it on first, but you know). I loved the colours and the fit and can only hope to cross paths with a top like that one day 🤩
So glad you got the blouse and jacket! And I am in favor of keeping the shoulder pads--they aren't super obvious when you have the jacket on, and they give it a good shape.
Hi Liz. I am starting to collect items that I can upcycle but I'm between a 2x and a 4x. It's hard to find clothes that will fit me and so many that I can add to something else. If you are choosing your base item does it have to fit you or can you make something that is smaller work for you? I don't want to be limited to boring items just because I'm that big. If an item is too big it's no problem. Also I'm only 5'5" so I'm short and wide. I love all of these lacy, frilly additions to any item. Will that make me look bigger? I love what you do. You are an inspiration. Bern
This was such a fun video ! I absolutely love the jacket, I think you should keep the shoulder pads in the jacket might loose its structure without them
I think the shoulder pads should stay and I loved the white dress!! I can picture it styled with the black harness and boots for a late summer early fall look
At first, I didn't like the green floral blouse, but when you tucked it in, it transformed it. It looks great on you.
I agree tucked is much more wearable!! glad you like it that way hehe
the jacket totally gives pokemon trainer in the best way. the shoulder pads are dope

I always think about doing this but it seems so intimidating lol, I'll have to try it sometime!! this gives me more confidence
@@beepwrld I totally get it! I have been sewing for 5 years and have just now entered the brave/experimental phase lol
@@beepwrld it probably was silk! Silk is one of the natural fabrics that hold heat ( i learned that from Bernadette Banner!)
I recently bought a dress from the thrift to do this! I like the dress and the stretchy material but I hate the color pattern on the dress. Plus its a wee bit too large. But it should make a great sewing pattern!
Honestly that green blouse was the wild card for me. Was not at all surprised by the red jacket, it's so cool and fits you so well!

That white dress was so cute! I would’ve loved to see you style it.
Me, too! I was a little sad it didn’t make the cut 😉
I'm surprised you didn't get the white dress just because I feel like with your style you could easily style it down for ordinary occasions? The feel does make a big difference though. So maybe too hot for tea party/picnic type occasions.
Love the 2 pieces you bought. I think the shoulder pads are understated as far as 80's shoulder pads go. I vote for keeping the shoulder pads intact.
@@jessielynn5255 I second that! Keep them, it's cooler this way!
I thought for sure you'd buy that white dress and then just hem it up a little! It suited you so well and I would have loved to see you style it.
Great picks! I say leave the shoulder pads in the jacket - I think they make the fit of the jacket extra cool :-)
You are a stronger thrifter than I -- I am always SO tempted by the unique pieces I find, even if they don't really fit my style, and when I bring it home, it just sits in my closet! 😅

Yes, yes, yes; that green shirt is made for you! Love 💕
Fellow 80s teen here!
This is so sweet, thank you!!
I love that color combo idea & glad to have the 80s teen rep in the comments hahah
Defo keep the shoulder pads, the shape looks great as it is! Such a good idea.
If I don't end up wearing this green & white blouse as it is I definitely have that in the back of my mind!!
When it's not made of polyester or some other plastic I love dyeing things to be a better color
@@ferngully717they actually make fabric dye specifically for synthetic fabrics. I use RIT and it works great!
the bag section in that thrift store was incredible I would have walked out with at least 3 haha

omg this brought such a smile to my face hahah I'm so honored!! hope you enjoy your vacation & get to do some DIYs & thrifting when you get back :))
The first green blouse you chose works so well with your hair color. Great choice.
Crying over the strawberry shirt, it was so cute 😭🍓
that white polkadot dress was way too cute for you to leave behind......
I'm kinds glad she didn't get it, it made her tummy look weird... maybe that's just the dressing room lights idk
Just went thrifting yesterday for a summer wardrobe. Got 20 items it was such a score! And interestingly I found at least 4 popcorn shirts
The shirt at 8:58 when the ties were hanging loose looked like a classic piece in a layered streetwear look.
The shirt an 10:40 is seriously so pretty, like a fairy! In my opinion the green stripes on your blue shirt matches quite closely with the green on the top, too.

I love the dress at 11:16!
Yessss the 8:58 shirt would be so sick in a streetweary look
I just got a puffy high neck minju kim esque blouse in more of a forest green and it has been my favorite piece for playing dress up!
Was hoping you got that white long sleeve dress. Looked so good.
NOOO THE WHITE DRESSSS
I love the items you picked up but that white dress was gorgeous. maybe just because I’d wear it lol
with the pads; I like the jacket and the "maternity" dress
omg such good finds! the silhouette of the green blouse is sososo good! also obsessed with the polka dot dress, but i get why you’d leave it behind!!! the jacket was a cool find too!

The red jacket, hands down!!
Girl that white dress was so gorgeous 😭😭
the top that you wore throughout this thrift trip is literally SOOO CUTEE
in regards to the first dress you showed, you can always take it home and dye it! easy fix when its such a light colour
The red jacket feels so studio ghibli protagonist!

yay, new beepworld video!
omg I would snatch that red and striped bag at 05:04!!
SO BEAUTIFUL but the straps were super flimsy I just knew it wouldn't be realistic😭😭
I think that green top you bought is so you. Embrace the brighter green!

love the red jacket, it gives me Akira vibes kind of. keep the shoulder pads! they're not too exaggerated but give the jacket a cool shape
Big fan !
getting a thrift shirt to make something from the fabric is absolutely acceptable 💚
Hang on... that shirt from 9:33 is sorta giving Nami from One Piece vibes... and I'm here for it...
