- Turkey's main opposition party has claimed big election victories in the main cities of Istanbul and Ankara.
The results are a significant blow for Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who had hoped to regain control of the cities less than a year after he claimed a third term as president.
He led the campaign to win in Istanbul, where he grew up and became mayor.
But Ekrem Imamoglu, who first won the city in 2019, scored a second victory for the secular opposition CHP.

I am not a big fan of both AKP and CHP; however, in a secular country like Turkey should not continue having religious parties on directing positian. I am delightful as a Turkish citizen for the result, showing that Turkey will not probably continue with Erdoğan in the next elections.

Depends what EU country you are from. If you were from the Netherlands, you are allowed to vote anywhere in the world even in "local" elections. Turks are not allowed to vote for local elections if they live outside Turkey, so the Netherlands is even worse than Turkey on this issue.
