The United Nations is recognizing Palestine as a full member

The United Nations General Assembly has adopted a resolution recognizing Palestine as eligible to become a full member of the United Nations and urging the Security Council to reconsider the matter. The resolution garnered 143 votes in favor, 9 against, and 25 abstentions. Some countries, including the United States and Israel, strongly opposed it, while others abstained, such as Italy, Germany, and the United Kingdom. The Palestinian ambassador to the UN stated that voting for Palestine's existence is an investment in peace.
