Try I-65 thru Birmingham Alabama. Our first road trip in our rv We went through what felt like bonb craters. I think a couple of times our class A totaly disappeared in a crater.
LIke everyone else is saying here, the entire I40 is just a mess! Took it all through from the 15 to the 25... (?) to head up to Colorado. Yeah, a mess!!!
My home state of South Carolina has the worst roads and interstates from top to bottom. One blowout on the travel trailer via I-77 and one on I-95 during the same trip on the same day. We questioned our desire to continue camping. We’ve since upgraded to a 5th wheel and still travel every chance we get. Good luck and stay safe out there. We really enjoy your channel.
I introduced my teenage daughter to you guys today and she said to tell Carl, “gosh Carl, stop slacking and investigate the A/C”. We love the show and hope your travels are safe!
Although I live in PA, I've driven my RV through many different states. I can tell you without a doubt PA has the worst roads in the country. They don't even need the "Welcome to Pennsylvania" signs. You can tell instantly when you cross back into PA by how much worse the roads are. I've driven I-78 a lot and I know exactly what Nene is talking about.
Speaking as a Canadian, you Americans should really appreciate your Interstates! They're all better than 90% of the highways in Canada. Winters are really harsh on roads. Roads in the US are always much, much better, so don't complain -- it could be worse! 😊
We absolutely love your videos! We just got our first towable trailer about a month ago and have been watching all your videos and they have helped us learn so much and we love how fun you both are too!! There is so much to learn and when we come across a problem we say, “what would Carl and Ne-Ne do to figure this out?” 😂 and it works! We live in Central Florida and look forward to hearing about upcoming meetups😊 Thank you for all your fun videos👏
Wow thank you so much Kyra!! This means a lot to us 😊 congrats to you guys on your trailer!! We hope that we can continue to hear from ya'll on other videos!!

Right? I shouldn’t treat a darn UA-cam channel like a Netflix show but here I am…..binging at will! Hollywood has to calling soon, they could be the next lucy and Ricky! I’m blown away by the chemistry and quality of these “shows” lol.
haha perfect time for an upload. In the near future my wife and I are going to be selling our house and full-time RVing for a while. So I came across your channel and have been watching and LAUGHING a ton. You guys are great! Thanks for the awesome content.
I completely agree. They love to do it to me since I’m a single female RV’er. They don’t think women can maneuver into their spot and “dumb down” their directions. 😡😡
When I enter into Texas, I love departing I-10 and bump south to Texas-90 which follows close to the border - the towns you pass through are amazing - people, food, culture, overnight stays
That sounds like an awesome route with a lot of character! We’ll have to check it out next time we’re in Texas. Thanks so much for sharing and for your support-it means a lot to us! 😊
When this video started I was like, "what I-10 isn't bad!" I drive it every 4 to 6 weeks back-and-forth from Texas to Florida. It's not bad at all. The worst part I agree is going through all the construction with the concrete walls - I hate those things - but the roads themselves are awesome!
Thanks so much for the I10 review. We have driven I81 and portions of it are horrendous and we agree the Indiana Toll Road is bad. We live in Delaware and are Hoosier transplants. We now look forward to traveling I10! Love your content.
We live in Goshen, Indiana. Couldn’t agree more about the 80-90 toll road. We make regular trips to Rochester, MN. IH90 near Rochester is like driving on a road through a cattle ranch in Texas. Dad joke for Karl: how many Optometrists does it take to change a lightbulb? Is it 1? 2? 1…. 2….? Love you guys, our Meka & Max ( cat fur babies) send their shout outs to the Dex MAN.
We live in Baton Rouge! Great video 😃 The roads are worse on the east side of Baton Rouge towards Mississippi going west. Ugh… And the construction… it will NEVER end!
I'm considering one of those mini-split A/C units like the one on that Braxton Creek. They are VERY power efficient. More and more people are adding them. You can actually keep your RV cool/warm with no power hookups or generators if you combine a good solar setup, multiple lithium batteries and a mini-split air conditioner/heat pump. It sounds like I-10 is a good drive after all! Keep up the great videos!
Hello Hanks. I-10 did not appear to be too bad. I-64 through the Hampton Roads area in VA is terrible. But it seems all the highways around major metropolitan areas are that way. The roads get a lot of use and not much maintenance. I bet there was a lot of laundry coming out of Solly and headed for those free laundry facilities. Thanks again for keeping me smiling.
My kids, wife, and I will be RVing from Maine to FL for the very first time as of Feb 25th! This gets me incredibly excited. I've watched all your tips and tricks video and can't wait to adventure and explore the RV life. Thank you for all of your great content!
Hey Matthew! Congrats to you guys! 😃 Thank you for your wonderful support! We usually just look at reviews and call ahead to see if they can accommodate long term stays. Let us know how your trip goes!!
Pa roads are just what you describe. Another enjoyable video. Ney Ney rocking on Rt#10! Each of you step up on certain things making a great team. Love you guys!!
Once again, you have made my evening. In a few days, we are heading west and were going to take the I-10 but not so sure after reading the comments. Love you guys, thanks for the info, and stay safe.
Pa here yes been on 78 that's pretty bad so is turnpike in indiana ..but when I was in west virginia on the 2 between wheeling and Parkersburg that one stretch was like land mines...hope they fixed that !!
We ended up taking an impromptu trip down to North Carolina! And we have to say that the I-81 and I-80 between NY state and Pennsylvania were pretty rough. There's a spot that a few truckers and us hit that made us all pull over to check around the rigs 😳. The poor cats!
That AC unit you saw in the back of that camper traveling down the road was most likely put on because they found out they run well off of battery power and solar
@@ptsbc941 I have watched a few videos where they have installed them because they use less draw and have run them with a power inverter forgot that along with battery and solar longer than the traditional AC Unit
Most of the I-10 roads in LA have been revamped over the last few years. They're good, much improved but not great in some areas east of NOLA. Much better especially around Lafayette and Baton Rouge as they have and are still widening I-10 to 3 and 4 lanes leading in/out of the city.
Listening to Dexter during the ride……he’s SOOO unhappy back there🥲. But he sounds so cute at the same time. I’ve been on I-10 a number of times and it’s not bad at all. I’ve been on many other interstates that have been MUCH worse. Since I’m still a weekend warrior, I camp at really nice campgrounds and have gotten so damn spoiled so I know how nice it is to stay in them. Kisses to Dexter!🐾❤️🐾
Ney Ney you accurately point out that what people consider a "bad road" is quite subjective and based on what they may have experienced elsewhere. We have driven I-10 many times with camper trailer, boat, or motor home. I will say you made a good choice taking the I-12 by-pass. For future reference, there is also a I-610 by-pass closer to New Orleans to miss downtown. The issue is not as much road quality as it is congestion and traffic volume, at least compared to other Southern Interstates, which are, as a rule pretty good compared to roads up north. As you found, Mississippi is also pretty good. Another plus is that many of the Southern interstates have FREE dump stations (Kyle) at their rest stops. And NO TOLLS!
Hey Kimberly! We actually have found it to be just fine on the back roads. Preparation is key when it comes to those certain routes however. Just making sure they have adequate height clearances and can tolerate weights of large trucks. Thank you for your support! Keep these great comments coming on other videos!! 😃
@@HappilyEverHanks thank you!! I will for sure!! I’m going out solo (well my 2 dogs, but they SUCK at driving) So I am learning everything I can from you two!
Know your exact height including your AC, antenna, solar, or anything else on your roof. Height clearance can be a really bad surprise! Length can also be tricky, depending on the hairpin turns you might be taking. And also know your total weight, including your truck - go to a CAT Scale to measure your total weight for that, so you know your road limits, like the Hanks mentioned to you on road limits. People living on those rural roads will notice if you're towing something too heavy for their pavement. For us, we weigh our empty truck at a CAT scale, then go back with the trailer empty, and make notes of all of this, weigh each axle, calculate your pin weight (that's the hitch with the trailer hitched up, which is usually calculated as 10-15% of your total trailer weight, but you'll want to confirm that, since I don't know much yet about 5th wheels, only travel trailers). You are going to want to understand and check every weight rating for your vehicle, tires and axles, and also all of those for your trailer. The vehicle weight info will be inside your driver door. Every vehicle is unique, depending on the options, etc. NEVER trust a car salesman to tell you the truth on that, it isn't their job to know. I've even seen some of Thor's top of the line truck campers with sliders that were way too heavy at an RV show, loaded on a F150 (we have an F150, and know the limits even with the newer aluminum ecoboost F150s). So never trust anyone to tell you what's the safe weight for the vehicle you're thinking of buying. When you load up your trailer, you'll want to go back to a CAT scale and weight everything again. This helps make sure you're balanced (bouncing will eventually break your trailer cabinets and contents), and makes sure you didn't overload any axle. Try to keep every weight quite under your individual & total limits, and you'll be safer and your truck engine will last longer. KEEP your CAT Scale receipts so you can see what your weights were, how things changed when you moved your toolbox/waters/filled the propane/emptied your fresh water, etc. Those CAT scale receipts can also CYA if you ever happened to be pulled over or got in an accident - these receipts are a legal document to protect you and show that you weren't overloaded. Prepandemic, when we traveled, I would use a CAT Scale app to pay for it right at the scales, then go inside to grab that paper when we were done weighing and had parked away from the scales (it costs truckers work money to be sitting and waiting for you to get off the CAT scales, so be sure you have a plan in advance, especially for your first time. Truckers are required by law to weight their rigs.) Best wishes and happy trails!! Traveling with a trailer is an excellent adventure!!! :)
Get a trucker GPS and a trucker map book. You'll be safe to travel the roads it takes you on. Many GPS have settings to avoid certain types of roads, certain areas, etc. Also you'll be good with the dimensions of your vehicle.
Glad you did this video, was told and read the same things about I20. We drove from Quartzsite to Florida. The road was ok to good. Lots of construction in TX and LA, road should be much better next year. Worst section was I10 west from Phoenix to Ca. The section near Quartzsite was awful
Thank you for sharing! Oh my word that rv park you shared was amazing! I’m hoping to someday soon be a full time rver! I have watched your videos and learned so much! I must say Dexter was sure meowing a lot this trip, or does he do that all the time? Anyways, glad you made it to Florida! Blessings! 💕
Enjoy your program my wife worked on the corona task force in the area and could not go out of state so we purchased a truck and a camper started camping throughout the state. So now we have starter on UA-cam and etc….. thank you you encouraged us.
I noticed the Pensacola beach water tower. Great place with an excellent campground. A lot to do within walking distance. Pensacola beach rv resort. One of our favorites!! We travel right at a 1000 miles one way each yr for our spring break. Our rig loves making that vacation.
Years back we were traveling to Minot AFB and just before the North Dakota state line we past a sign that said, slow down bump ahead, so I slowed down and about half mile later we see 2 signs with arrows pointing down saying bump. So I slowed even more thinking the worst and it was literally a Crack in the road, didnt even feel it. Being from Ohio, I know bad roads, we have 2 things here, portholes and state troopers.
@@HappilyEverHanks actually only about 10 minutes from the state line. They are filming a new Christmas movie in my town as we speak. Looking to be an extra Saturday, then I will be a big star. Lol
I agree, we towed our 5th wheel from Northern Michigan to Sevierville TN last year and I75 from MI to TN was absolutely the worst roads I've ever towed on.
I-10 here in NW Florida is excellent. By the way, I am new to RV'ing. I just bought a new used 2022 Jayco Jay Flight SLX 264BH. I've been gathering accessories for a maiden voyage soon. I've been watching a lot of UA-cam videos, including the Hank's, here. I did, however, own a 29' foot Fleetwood TT many years ago and lived in for my work. Have been retired for six years. I've gleaned much information for the videos. Safe travels to everyone!
Hey Y’all, we just took I-12 and I-10 from Hammond to and from Baton Rouge, while we are visiting LA. We also came from Destin FL to here on I-10 and had no problems. I found the roads just fine and we be headed wester in a couple of weeks to Texas so hoping all is good there too. As always, we enjoyed your post and looking for the next one. Be Well and Ozzy sez hey to Dexter!
I-10 isn’t as bad as it used to be. From Baton Rouge to Jacksonville, Florida it was clickity-clack, clickity-clack the entire way because it was originally concrete slabs. Now it’s mostly asphalt. I really love that area going through the Bayous where it’s nothing but gators, snakes, and cypress swamps. It’s always a good idea to bypass New Orleans. Y’all have got me craving Buc-ees. This Saturday morning I’ve got twelve people coming over. We are having what I call “An Authentic Dixie Breakfast”. I’m making biscuits and sausage gravy, scrambled eggs, and sweet tea. I got room for two more. Perú is beckoning. Hint! Alrighty then, I’m out. Greetings from Logan, Rockett and me. Tio Mac.
I sneeze from the sun all the time....175 out of Athens TX headed towards Dallas are some of the worst roads we been on....I swear there is like 2' drops off overpasses....great video....
Can't tell you how much my wife and I enjoy following you guys on your adventures! Extremely entertaining and informative! We just purchased our new RV at the end of last summer and thoroughly enjoyed fall camping. Can't wait for our Pennsylvania winter to end and to be able to get back out there! In the meantime, we'll be content traveling along with you two! Thanks for the ride!
Interstate 70 in Pennsylvania. Nothing but potholes and dead deer. And not just dead deer, oh no, dead GROUND UP deer. Tractor trailer vs deer is an explosion. 🤮 Yes, I am a former Pennsylvanian, 50 years of that. Last 16 in Florida. Way too hot here. Great episode!! My favorite night, Thursday, The Carl and Ney Ney Show! 💚
They don't tell you when you buy an RV that in twenty years You will be A professional RV tech. Never tell them you are a RV Tech while camping. I tell them I was a dog catcher... 😆
Just read the newsletter saying you would be on SC coast this spring. I live in SC and would HIGHLY recommend Huntington Beach State Park. My favorite park of all SC parks. Awesome restaurants & nightly music venues close by, close enough to Myrtle Beach to go have some tourist fun but far enough away to escape the hub-bub. Great sites, lots to do & very affordable.
Grew up in Louisiana, yes some roads off the interstate is ruff. When we stayed in Michigan for a month, the roads are terrible. We lived in Foley, Alabama for a year, loved it. You will enjoy Florida, we lived in Lake Wales, nice area.
Great to see you made it to Florida! And I'm glad you decided to treat to yourself that last stop! Between paying $15 the night before and free laundry, I'd say I all evened out. Nana was really rocking the driving!! You go! I just love all your content!
I95 George Washington Bridge - HORRIBLE, I84 Connecticut, I78 New Jersey - OK I guess any Northeast road!! Love the shamu hair! Nice job on editing!! Yes.. Carl you. Awesome job driving Nene!
We actually recently went from Georgia to Louisiana and let me tell you after 2 Xanax and me complaining for 6 hours I gave in to him and let him upgrade from a two ton to a 3/4 ton last week because I felt so unsafe as the RV swerved and bounced so much you are brave for driving !
Loved that I just watched you drive through our tunnel under the Mobile River, just 12 miles from home. I'm ready for you to boondock here with 30A & water.
Hey. Watching your show and you mentioned highway 78 and I found you worked at Lehigh Valley hospital. So cool, we live in Macungie. As a fellow nurse, love the journey you two are on!!!
Gulf Shores and Orange Beach are really nice. Glad you had a good experience at Lake Osprey. We have a lot in one of the other resorts in the area so we go down there a lot. A lot of work has been done on I-10 so I suspect many of the projects are completed since you had a good experience on I-10.
Hi Hanks!! I'm a new subscriber of yours. Not new to camping with our travel trailer though. We're not fulltimers, but were close to that for several years before the pandemic hit. I now have to step up and start towing our 35' TT for my husband. I have been very nervous about this for a long time, knowing it was coming once we started getting out on the road again. But I saw your video here, and after watching NeNe drive, and we now have a similar truck that is much stronger than our previous F150 (ours is an AT4 3500 similar to Denali but without your nicer leather. It does have a lot of cameras which make a HUGE difference for towing safely), I felt confident to suck it up, get behind the wheel, and stop being an afraid female. I. DID. GREAT. TOWING!!!! Ok, it was a short 45 min drive, but I got us out of the back of the campground, around rigs hooking up here and there, several turns to get out, onto narrow surface roads with tight corners, onto the 65mph freeway with a short entrance going up a hill, into a very small truck stop to fill diesel for the first time, had to make a 3pt turn to get out of that surprisingly small truck stop with no exit (what? didn't expect that for truckers, but I did it!), and drove us to the storage unit and backed our trailer into our tight spot there. KNOWING I CAN TOW US WAS LIBERATING!! It was only because I watched this video, with NeNe talking with her hands while towing that gave me the confidence to get a move onto this big step for me. Plus, well if I didn't start towing for my family, then we'd have to stay home, which we are quite sick of doing. NeNe still needs to try to keep both hands on the wheel, but her casualness gave me my wings! Thank you both :)
This is so wonderful to hear!! Sounds like you guys have an amazing truck by the way! Congrats on rocking the towing 😎🙌🏼 Keep living life to the fullest! Hope our paths cross one day soon, much love from the Hanks family ❤️
What a trip! Last year coming back from Florida after we met you guys at a Boondockers Welcome, we were traveling up north on I65 through Birmingham. It was the worst piece of pavement I ever drove. After we passed Birmingham and the road got better, I was able to collect all my loose marbles in my brain and continue on.
Love watching y'all! We just made the trip from Dallas TX to Stuart FL about 2 weeks ago. It was a rough trip but we upgraded our pin box. Check out the Gen Y pin box, works great for our 42ft solitude.
I always learn something new every time I watch you guys. God-willing, I will be road-tripping with my new 5th wheel by Spring 2023 as a solo female retiree/hiker 🙏🏽👍🏼👍🏼
In Jan we went the other way on i10. Came down from D.C. to Florida and the took 10 to Texas. Most of it was pretty good except right at the Texas line. It was rough until we got to the welcome center. And there was construction, too. Those concete barriers can be intimidating.
Never been on the I10.... Just one more thing i need to do. When Kyle said looks like Florida i was thinking the same thing. Looks like a very nice place to stay. Can't wait to see what places you guys find to stay in while in Florida.
My husband and I are team drivers, so while one is driving the other is sleeping. I equate my sleeping to being a kernel of popcorn in a popper. Indiana toll road, Michigan Roads, I78, I70 I40 in places, i65, I75 and a whole lot more.
As always, love your videos! But if you want a real white-knuckle thrill ride with a distinct possibility of ripping the axles off your trailer, try the 40 (Trans-Canada) through Montreal, especially in Spring. Not that they do much to fix the incredible pot holes by summer... I'm convinced a theorem or two regarding black holes were inspired by the pot holes in the roads and highways in this city.
We have driven I - 10 in Texas to Cali which had some bad areas, but when we drive mega miles like your doing, we expect some kind of fun driving somewhere along the way. The worst road we experience was 99 in California which had construction zones for miles and miles, not to mention the barrier walls were only two feet wider on each side of the coach and pulling a 65ft. set up was really sketchy. Glad you guys made the trip in one piece. Thanks for sharing your journey. Peace
Watching at the beginning and I'm like is that a baby crying...WTH? It was Dexter meowing in the back seat! Our roads can be bad here in New England but you get used to it I guess. Renee rocking it as the driver, you go sister!!
So glad I-10 heading East worked for you, the part west of New Orleans was under reconstruction and every joint on the super long long 20 plus mile bridge was a jolt. But you are right.... there are precious few alternatives. Super find of those parks you stayed at!! ~ Brad and Diana
Another great video, you guys. As always, informative and entertaining. We haven't gotten to I-10 yet, but we go through Pennsylvania pretty often. I-80 isn't too bad except for the perpetual construction on and off in places. We went to Intercourse last year for an Amish mud sale We took one way going out and a different way going back. I think the smoothest part was going through the park by the Delaware Water Gap. We were trying to figure out how they got washboard surfaces on every road around Intercourse. And it was all new pavement. We're thinking that you had a better time on I-10. Kim and Vinny in CT
Another awesome video from our favorite funny couple. Holly says your videos are too short and I say add western Washington to the list of places that you want to visit😊
I live 3 miles from the Buccee's you guys visited. And I hate to say it, but several years back I drove to Savannah Georgia from here. We stayed over in Mobile, so we were driving the day shift. I-10 was absolutely miserable all the way to Jacksonville. It was like 700 miles of rush hour. Thumbs up, tho! Happy day!
@@HappilyEverHanks You're welcome! All that 4-lane divided highway makes it hard to get any roadwork done. If I had to do it again, I would either fly or drive at night. Of course, sleepy truckers are yet another challenge.
Hi Hanks ! We live in New Jersey. We travel on route 78 in P.A. every summer. We go to the Thousands Trails in Hershey with our grandchildren. This has become are annual trip for the summer. Believe we know about this road. Loved your video today travel safe and we hope to meet up with you guys soon. 😁😁
The US95 from the I-84 (near Nampa, Idaho) to Winnemucca, Nevada! We had high wind, bumpy roads, and so many Morman Crickets crossing the roads that it looked like the road was painted red! My fingers were white hanging on. That being said, ultimately if anything had actually happened, it would have been our fault. We had to be at a certain place by a certain time. We retire soon, and when the road gets rough, we are gonna sit back and relax! Love you guys.
Hi Guys Neh Neh is rockin the driving again. Something you could try. I was taught and told if you ever wonder if you are in your lane try this. When you are driving down the road there is usually a dark spot or light spot in the middle of the road. When you are sitting in the drivers seat try and keep your right leg and right butt cheek on that spot. It works. in a car truck even in my big truck. you will be even on both sides of your lane. Awesome camp resort . Always looking forward to your Thursday videos You Guys Rock!! Dana Laurie
Living in Pennsylvania and being stuck between Allentown and Philly, all I can say is… if your GPS mentions “I-76” and you’re pulling an RV you might want to make a U-Turn!! I-76 aka “the Schuylkill” is a death trap! And yes! Pennsylvania has potholes deeper than moon craters!!

Yes, there was those construction walls that leave you like 4.7 inches on either side 😅 Don't miss those puppies!
Thanks so much for the I10 review. We have driven I81 and portions of it are horrendous and we agree the Indiana Toll Road is bad. We live in Delaware and are Hoosier transplants. We now look forward to traveling I10! Love your content.
Yeah honestly Anne, 81 and Indiana are way worse than I-10 in our opinion
Thank you so much for watching, stay safe 🙂🙌🏼
We live in Goshen, Indiana. Couldn’t agree more about the 80-90 toll road. We make regular trips to Rochester, MN. IH90 near Rochester is like driving on a road through a cattle ranch in Texas. Dad joke for Karl: how many Optometrists does it take to change a lightbulb? Is it 1? 2? 1…. 2….? Love you guys, our Meka & Max ( cat fur babies) send their shout outs to the Dex MAN.
Oh my goodness, YES!! Those Indiana roads are NO joke 😅 LOL Keep these great dad jokes coming!! Stay safe!
We live in Baton Rouge! Great video 😃 The roads are worse on the east side of Baton Rouge towards Mississippi going west. Ugh… And the construction… it will NEVER end!
Yes, that construction is nooo joke!! Thank you so much for watching, we hope to hear from you again soon 😃
Oh nice!! We had never heard of them before this to be honest 😅 Thank you very much for your support! Hope to talk again soon
It wasn’t bad at all Wayne 🙂 Stay safe there where you are, thank you for your wonderful support!!
South Carolina in general has terrible roads. The Sun also makes me sneeze!
We haven't drove through South Carolina that much, but this is great to know Rick! Thanks for watching :)
My kids, wife, and I will be RVing from Maine to FL for the very first time as of Feb 25th! This gets me incredibly excited. I've watched all your tips and tricks video and can't wait to adventure and explore the RV life. Thank you for all of your great content!
Any tips on finding cheap long term stays on AllStaysPro are welcomed!
Almost forgot! #ThanksHanks
Hey Matthew! Congrats to you guys! 😃 Thank you for your wonderful support! We usually just look at reviews and call ahead to see if they can accommodate long term stays. Let us know how your trip goes!!
I haven't driven I-10 in 16 years but it used to be terrible going thru Louisiana. Glad to hear they finally fixed the roads!
Hey it's been a minute since you have been on that road! Thanks for watching :)
Pa roads are just what you describe. Another enjoyable video. Ney Ney rocking on Rt#10! Each of you step up on certain things making a great team. Love you guys!!
Yes absolutely Ron! Those PA roads don't mess around 😅 Much love to you as well, stay safe friend!
Once again, you have made my evening. In a few days, we are heading west and were going to take the I-10 but not so sure after reading the comments. Love you guys, thanks for the info, and stay safe.
Thank you Greg! Have a safe trip!
I10 is under construction in some areas but the delays are not the end all, once you’re through it’s smooth sailing
@@toddmccorquodale2669 Todd, thank you for the update
Pa here yes been on 78 that's pretty bad so is turnpike in indiana ..but when I was in west virginia on the 2 between wheeling and Parkersburg that one stretch was like land mines...hope they fixed that !!
Couldn't agree more Nathan! Stay safe out there :)
We ended up taking an impromptu trip down to North Carolina! And we have to say that the I-81 and I-80 between NY state and Pennsylvania were pretty rough. There's a spot that a few truckers and us hit that made us all pull over to check around the rigs 😳. The poor cats!
Yes those roads up there can get rough very quickly! Goodness, stay safe out there!! ❤️
Awesome guys! I-10 has improved over the last few years. We are happy to hear you enjoyed your drive up I-10. We look forward to your next video!!
Thank you so much! Yes, I would imagine it has gotten much much better recently 😅 We appreciate you!
Love your content! We used to live in Lafayette and I hated driving that road to New Orleans!
Thank you Leona 😊 This is so nice of you to say, stay safe out there!!
Thanks!
Thank you so much for your generosity Kim ❤️❤️😊 This means a lot to us! Much love to you from the Hanks family!
That AC unit you saw in the back of that camper traveling down the road was most likely put on because they found out they run well off of battery power and solar
Oh that's interesting, thanks for sharing!
They also have a heat pump on them.
Yes more efficient.
That ac is a mini split. They run off 120v or 240v. Definitely not working with solar or battery
@@ptsbc941 I have watched a few videos where they have installed them because they use less draw and have run them with a power inverter forgot that along with battery and solar longer than the traditional AC Unit
Great video. Love that Dexter was meowing for part of the video. Enjoy and Safe Travels. Cheers!
He said his lines correctly! LOL Thanks Ed!
Most of the I-10 roads in LA have been revamped over the last few years. They're good, much improved but not great in some areas east of NOLA. Much better especially around Lafayette and Baton Rouge as they have and are still widening I-10 to 3 and 4 lanes leading in/out of the city.
They did a great job! Not bad like it was to some!
Oh wow! This is where I used to live! We have drove this exact route to visit family in Alabama for the last 3 years! This was so much fun to watch!
That is awesome! Thanks Camden 😃
He spikes up for a little and then falls back asleep. I think he thinks we are talking to him 😹 He has a lot to say! Much love from the Hanks ❤️
Howdy Hanks! Rough roads IMO are I-20 through Shreveport, LA, 635 around Dallas, TX, and all of I-40 through NM.
Hey! Thanks for sharing 😃
You all are hilarious. Nice meeting you at the show!
Thank you so much!! It was wonderful of you to come say hi to us 😃
Awesome video. Was on I-10 years ago from Louisiana to Dan Antonio. Was nice. Thank you
Thank you very much Betty Jo ❤️ Stay safe :)
That ac unit looks like the condenser of a mini split. Very economical to run. Much quieter than a regular rv ac unit
Good to know Jeff! We had no idea! :)
@The Osborns for sure!!
Very true, there are many factors and all subjective! Thank you for sharing this great information!
Is it extremely difficult towing on the back roads? When I make my move to living on the road, I was thinking all back roads. 😊 Love your show!!
Truckers are required by law to weight their rigs.)
Best wishes and happy trails!!
Thank you Eddie!! We appreciate your kindness and feedback 🙂👋🏼 Great information, we hope to hear from you again
Blessings! 💕

I 69 around Lansing. Bounced my bikes right off the rack on the back of the trailer
Oh boy that sounds ROUGH! 😬 Stay safe out there Jack!
I noticed the Pensacola beach water tower. Great place with an excellent campground. A lot to do within walking distance. Pensacola beach rv resort. One of our favorites!! We travel right at a 1000 miles one way each yr for our spring break. Our rig loves making that vacation.
This is awesome Matt!! Thank you so much for taking the time to comment :) Talk to you again soon!!
Oh my goodness, yes!! You are next door neighbors to PA, so you definitely know all about potholes 😅
@@HappilyEverHanks actually only about 10 minutes from the state line. They are filming a new Christmas movie in my town as we speak. Looking to be an extra Saturday, then I will be a big star. Lol
I gotta say, I-70 from St Louis to Kansas City looked way worse that the I-10. Loved your show, safe travels!!
Thanks for sharing, Alan!
The worst of the worst roads is 75 between Lexington and Knoxville. It almost destroyed our class c!
Yikes! Thanks for sharing!
I agree, we towed our 5th wheel from Northern Michigan to Sevierville TN last year and I75 from MI to TN was absolutely the worst roads I've ever towed on.
Agree! Hit the worst pothole of my life just south of the KY border and it bent 2 of the rims on my car!
Appreciate your support John, congrats on the new rig! Safe travels
I think I70 in Indiana. At least it was when we drove 18wheeler. Then I80 in PA is bad in places.
Yes, we would have to say I-70 and I-80 rank for some of the worst 😔
Well that hasn't changed since I drove them on college back in 1968!!!

Hey Warren 🙂 👋🏼 Thank you for sharing, it's always a pleasure hearing from you! Stay safe out there. Tell Ozzy Dexter says hi as well 😊
I-10 isn’t as bad as it used to be.
Tio Mac.

I’m watching from Minnesota. Roads here are snow covered can’t wait till spring. Renee seems very comfortable driving!!
Oh goodness Steve!! Stay warm up there, we are sending all the warm weather your way :)

Worst stretch of roads:
I-75 south through peach county Georgia. Another awesome video!
Thank you for sharing!

Oh no, Denny! That does not sounds like fun! Thanks for the heads up!
Hwy 78 from Birmingham to Opelika is an absolute nightmare with suicidal deer lining both sides! Avoidable now that they finished the Hwy 22 corridor.
Love watching y'all! We just made the trip from Dallas TX to Stuart FL about 2 weeks ago. It was a rough trip but we upgraded our pin box. Check out the Gen Y pin box, works great for our 42ft solitude.
Thanks for sharing! 😃
That construction is no joke! They don't leave you much space on either side to squeeze through 😅
Welcome to Baldwin County. Y'all are staying about 10 minutes from my ranch. Love to say hi if you're still here.
That's awesome to hear John! We are unfortunately not in the area any longer. We hope that our paths can cross soon!!
Never been on the I10.... Just one more thing i need to do. When Kyle said looks like Florida i was thinking the same thing. Looks like a very nice place to stay. Can't wait to see what places you guys find to stay in while in Florida.
Stay tuned for that! 😃
My husband and I are team drivers, so while one is driving the other is sleeping. I equate my sleeping to being a kernel of popcorn in a popper. Indiana toll road, Michigan Roads, I78, I70 I40 in places, i65, I75 and a whole lot more.
That's awesome!! Way to be a great team 😃 Love this analogy 🤣
Thank you David!! This is so kind of you to say :) Oh my, that sounds really bumpy! Stay safe out there, talk to you again soon 🙂 👋🏼
Hats off to you Ney Ney, my wife refuses to drive the Basin bridge going to Baton Rouge. Good job.
Thank you so much 😃 This is so kind of you to say!!
Im with you. I never found I-10 from San Antonio east bound was all that bad.
keep doing what you guys do!
Thank you so much!
Peace
Thanks for watching and sharing your experience! We could see 99 being rough! Safe travels 😃
Watching at the beginning and I'm like is that a baby crying...WTH? It was Dexter meowing in the back seat! Our roads can be bad here in New England but you get used to it I guess. Renee rocking it as the driver, you go sister!!
Thank you Lori!! Yes, Dexter thought we were talking to him 😹 Much love from the Hanks family ❤️
So glad I-10 heading East worked for you, the part west of New Orleans was under reconstruction and every joint on the super long long 20 plus mile bridge was a jolt. But you are right.... there are precious few alternatives. Super find of those parks you stayed at!! ~ Brad and Diana
Thank you both for being here, we are still laughing at that video from last night. You guys nailed it!! 😄 🙌🏼
Another great video, you guys. As always, informative and entertaining. We haven't gotten to I-10 yet, but we go through Pennsylvania pretty often. I-80 isn't too bad except for the perpetual construction on and off in places. We went to Intercourse last year for an Amish mud sale
We took one way going out and a different way going back. I think the smoothest part was going through the park by the Delaware Water Gap. We were trying to figure out how they got washboard surfaces on every road around Intercourse. And it was all new pavement. We're thinking that you had a better time on I-10.

I live 3 miles from the Buccee's you guys visited. And I hate to say it, but several years back I drove to Savannah Georgia from here. We stayed over in Mobile, so we were driving the day shift. Oh wow, makes sense that it can get nuts! Thanks Nathan!
@@HappilyEverHanks You're welcome! All that 4-lane divided highway makes it hard to get any roadwork done. If I had to do it again, I would either fly or drive at night. Of course, sleepy truckers are yet another challenge.

Y'all deserve it! Thanks for taking time to watch and share!
We live in KY. After watching last week you tube, my husband is taking me to Buccees in Richmond KY, which is about 2 hours from me. lol!!
Lol love this Dawn! :) Enjoy Buc-ee's!!! Let us know how the trip goes!! ❤️
Dana Laurie
That is a great tip and now one for us to try! Thanks so much Dana! You Rock!
My wife and I are Headed from Pennsylvania to key west, Florida in a few months and we are pumped. Love the videos
That is awesome! Y'all will have a blast, we love Key West!
This whole comment is very accurate! Thank you for your input!
@@HappilyEverHanks us PA folks should have a special badge on our driver license for surviving these roads!! 😂 😂 and we haven’t even mentioned I-95 yet!!
Hi guys! We went the same route! Nice rv resort! Free laundry?! 😮 I “sun” sneeze too. It’s totally a thing 😉. Safe travels. Maybe we will cross paths in Florida!
Oh awesome!!! Yeah wasn't the free laundry cool? Safe travels to ya'll as well :)
