I like the concept of the snap pad “footprint”, but I agree with Kyle…we want the stability of the shorter legs with our own custom blocks under the pads.
I love the fun you two have. If you can’t enjoy each other, you’ll never make your first trip!! Live, love & laugh!! ❤️❤️❤️ safe travels Hanks

I have never heard anything but good stuff about Snap Pads. They do give you a bigger footprint so they shouldn't sink into the ground unless it's really soft ground.
Dexter is so awesome! I hope you are enjoying Flo-Rida. Can't wait until next Thursday's video.

Sounds like a quick Firehouse Lasagna because it doesn't need to bake as long. We used to make "one pot wonders" because we didn't have time to make an elaborate meal and didn't want to use a lot of pots. We lived by the phrase, "as long as it's hot and there is a lot of it".

I have researched the heck out of those snappads and I really don't see the point they only make your jack foot print about 1" wider all the way around so if they are going to sink, that extra 1" won't amount to anything. And then they say they help from the jack feet slinding on the ground but your feet aren't supposed to be on the ground, keep your jacks as short as possible use pressure treated blocks and all is good, I even mounted a 7500lb scissor jack on the receiver hitch on the back of the rig and put a block under that and absolutely no movement at all.

So if we would of known….. we would of suggested you put the pads in the sun. Makes them soft and easy to install. We did a video on it. Also. Don’t give up your leveling blocks. You will still need them.

We installed Snap Pads on our 2016 Thor ACE 29.3 right after buying it last year. This was after watching a view UA-cam videos from others that installed them and weighing the pros and cons. We had camped a few times before getting them and that experience helps us really appreciate them now. Some of the things we love about them include: having a larger footprint made of a non-skid surface; not having to crawl under the RV to place the pads just right every single time; not forgetting the jack pads because they're always attached. So far, we've only camped in locations with good surfaces, no mud as yet. We do have the plastic pads for a better surface in case we run into some mud, but primarily use them under the wheels to get closer to level to begin with. Not everyone likes Snap Pads and I've even heard of them falling off, but we love ours.

We have 328 Momentum toy hauler. 6 hydraulic jacks - we have Snap-Pads on back 4 jacks. Mo is heavier than Sol and using orange blocks under tires destroys them. Rarely have any need for orange blocks under Snap pad jacks. We use Anderson Red Buckets under landing gear when possible - occasionally they're too tall. Really like the Snap-Pads at our storage area because driveway is on serious hill. Jacks down just adds that much more rubber on the road to keep the rig from going anywhere - even with chocks. We did lose 1 pad, when we had a blow out. One came off clipping a grass culvert but found it, and was able to put it back on.

We have snap pads on our 2019 Entegra Aspire. I like them a lot. The main reason, is many of the higher end parks won’t allow metal jack pads to touch the stamped concrete or pavers. So rather than having to place a jack pad down we just lower the jacks with the snap pads already installed.

We have snap pads and still use the yellow blocks to minimize travel. We also carry 12"X12"X1/2" plywood to further extend our foot print to support our rig. Sometimes, depending on our site, we just put the jacks down without anything but snap pads. We always try to keep our 6 point leveling system at a minimum for travel. Lippert 2.0

I have snap pads. They were very difficult to install. I had raised the tires off the ground and they would not snap on. Yes I used lots of dawn soap. It doesn’t eliminate the need for blocks. It does spread the weight over a larger area. It does keep the feet from getting bent. When I put the rv in storage, the pads keep the asphalt from being dented.

Since all of my leveling is done with leveling blocks under the wheels and jack with the wheels chocked before I unhook, the "feet" for the "feet" wouldn't work on my stabilizers. The jack base goes on cedar 4X4 blocks to create friction and to decrease the need to extend the jack so much. I can see the need for slip resistance on levelers like yours on a surface like cement. Some spots aren't so level so leveling blocks would still be helpful. Whether or not they are a good investment depends on the needs of the RV. If I had a fifth wheel...
That Dexter sure was full of it. George just chases his toys when he is in the mood...mumble, mumble...in the middle of the night and I step on them in the dark. George sends kisses.

Carl - you were in rare form on this video. Terra and I were cracking up when you were grabbing the door on the truck and it wasnt unlocked. We do that all the time. Lol. And we agree, on the snap pads we prefer the blocks to keep the jacks as close to rig as possible. Dexter playing was so cute. Put a smile on Terra’s face. Weather is breaking and time to get our rig ready for some weekend trips. Yeah!!

We had made some treated wood blocks from 2x12s. Double height for the 2 front. single height for the 4 rear. They worked well. Snap Pad had a sale on black friday so we bought the 6 pack We still use the double height wood blocks on the front...but not having to pack the other 4 wood blocks is nice and set up is a bit easier since we don't have to walk around all the jacks tp place the blocks just right. Not a game changer...but for the cost of about 2 dinners out and now about a tank of diesel :-( we thought it was worth a try. So far so good. Now the first time we show up and realize one blew off in transit, well thats just going to suck. :-)

I dont get the snap pads either, guys. I understand the broader footprint and less damage to ground or asphalt, but to Kyle's point, we always add the "lego" blocks under our jacks to reduce that travel and (theoretically) reduce the movement in the rig. I'll be watching for your update on how they did for you. Also, how does your rig "ride" when pulling with that factory Pin Box? I know you have the S-class, but we pulled a 42' with that style pin box and immediately ordered the Morryde rubber replacement. Night and day. Was just curious. Thanks Hanks!

Metal feet on plastic blocks, good ability to slide. Metal feet on wood, good ability to slide. Rubber feet on either set of blocks, less chance of sliding. Wider foot print. Little more space filled under foot to ground.

@@glengronewold2274 we use the lego blocks under our front landing gear at the storage yard. One day we went to check on the rig and noticed some one had hit our cap in the front left but it was just cosmetic paint damage and no fiberglass damage. So we walked around the yard and discovered a long bumper pull trailer with heavy damage to his top right rear corner where his tail swing hit our cap. His repair estimate was over $14,000.00 as he had heavy fiberglass and aluminum frame damage. Our estimate was $695.00 for paint matching and blending, no other damage. When we went to pick it up to take to the rv body shop we discovered what saved us more damage was the front of the rig had shifted 8 inches including the blocks on the concrete. We never noticed til we picked up the blocks and saw a faint outline of where it was originally placed.

@@glengronewold2274 A wood block could be amended with some layers of some tire innertube for better grip for sure. My only issue with these pads is that they could trap prolonged moisture between them and the steel feet of jacks. Was on several RV dealerships recently and noticed gross rust on many of the new rig's jack feet. I am too new to all of this to know if those jack's steel feet are easily replaceable or? I like the grip idea, but doesn't the RV loose electrical ground with adding and insulator (dry camp applications)?

Whoops, hit send by accident lol anyway we decided to go with it plus in places we don’t need to extend the jacks very far if we are on concrete or blacktop it won’t damage the blacktop and we don’t need to put any wood down. And we started using wood, we cut 4 x 4 S The size of a milk crate, we got tired of breaking our plastic stacking ones or when you put them in the grass if it’s soft we were tearing up the grass and having to bang out the grass. We don’t have a problem with them thinking when we don’t use the wood either. A couple days ago we actually did lose a snap pad, this was the second time, be careful on large wide speed humps. We went really slow but didn’t realize it until we got to our site it peeled it off. We went back and luckily found it, just a little chunk out of it, and put it back on. Even though we were on blacktop we had trouble because it was uneven. After a couple tries with a board on just one side we were able to get it on again

Snap pads are great for gravel and cement pad sites. If on a soft surface you have to spread out the load so that you do not sink. So you will have to use boards, etc. I use the yellow plastic pads (I call them Lego blocks) under them at times when site is not level or a little bit soft. Have to use boards on grass sites if it is soft. Never had any problems with them coming off.

Camping food is the best! Growing up that was the only time we ever got any sweet cereal. 🤣 We do a lot of pie iron cooking over the fire. Lots of fun. Pie iron chicken pot pie, pie iron cherry or blueberry pie. Oatmeal with Craisins and cinnamon and diced apples in the morning a lot. The lasagna you guys are making looks awesome!
We like to hang out and play card games when camping. Our kids are currently really into Uno, phase 10, and pit. Growing up we would sing around the campfire and we made s’more‘s and hotdogs over the fire. One of our big favorites was what we call “foil packs.“. I’m sure everyone has a version of it. We usually did chopped up potatoes, carrots, bell pepper, onion, zucchini or broccoli, some sort of pre-cooked protein, butter salt and pepper. And you wrap it a few times in foil and cook it over the fire flipping it halfway through. Sprinkle little cheese on top after you unwrap it. So yummy!
We enjoy your channel and the fun humor you guys share.

3:14 to speak of Dexter. You are slipping. I don't know anything about Snap Pads. I have seen a lot of RV'ers who rave about them. But, since my leveling jacks don't function at the moment, I have not considered them. The jacks didn't work when I bought my RV and I have not taken the time to have them looked at (on my todo list). I will have to wait until that time to really look into them.

I’m totally with you. Why do people love their snap pads so much? Is there some special snap-pad kool aid out there that I’ve missed drinking? Okay, gives you a little more height and a slightly bigger surface area. AND???? Everyone tells me I need them - but why? That’s a lot of money for an inch or two. I’m full-time with my Great Dane and no snap pads. I think we are going to go sans snap pad. I hope my rig doesn’t sink to China.

Yep .. must me a cool aid thing. I guess I can see the value in not having to lean down to place the blocks and again to pick them up, but at $350 for a set for our coach (the 6 grand lux set) I don't see the value at this time.

  • @charlescartwright71

I installed them on my 2427 Voyage trailer. They give you 50% more surface area than the std. Bal 5"x5" pads. I still carry leveling blocks for varying situations, however. Many times I don't use any other blocks and then my wife or I don't have to gather them out from under the trailer when we break camp. As you age bad backs will cause you to look for convenience ! 4 pads were $ 120 on Amazon.

I put my snap pads on my fifth wheel two at a time by myself in 10 minutes. I’ve had them on for 3 years and thousands of miles back and forth accross the country and never had the first issue. Great product. Alot of the campgrounds out west require them or something similar.

Love our Snap Pads. Metal feet and concrete, even with chocks, may slide easier. Rubber to concrete has more friction. I am no electrician but I like the idea of an isolator between the RV and the ground...Metal to ground could draw lightning...just my thought.

The Snap Pads do add quite a bit of stability, but yes, you really don't want the Jacks to extend more than 48% of their travel, so then additional pads should be used to prevent this. However, the size of the SnapPad footprint helps even when using blocks for added stability. This has been my experience anyway. Hope you all have a Bucket List Day!!!

After reading many comments, it seems there is enough interest in this Snap Product that RV manufacturers should listen and include them in the end product. It seems equivalent to a car manuf. selling cars with wheels but not tires. I would venture to say you could use used tires and wheels in place of Snap and Legos. Think about it.

Perhaps not as applicable for a trailer, however we use them on our motorhome, and have seen positive results in stability, particularly on times
when the jacks are really extended. The increase in the foot print although appearing small is exponential (if measured). We boon dock quite a bit and find them helpful in soggy ground. When back home they save our pavement. It's clearly evident where the OEM pads have damaged the pavement not so with the addition of the Snap Pads. With our old trailer we used Linx Levelers with good success, but they would be far too small for out current rig (10" OEM jack pads). We could I guess use cribbing to increase the foot print and or provide elevation to shorten the jacked length but this would require and inordinate amount of cribbing. A single 2 x 12 cut to 13" would only give us 11 1/2" x 13", our snap pads are 13" x 13" and each piece would only give you 1 1/2" of crib (x) 4 jacks, the pieces of cribbing would quickly rise, and the higher the stack the less stable it can be. I agree the price is a bit steep and I swallowed hard when deciding to go with them, but over all the risk benefit has been justifiable. In your case these were gifted to you, give them a try. Use liberal amounts for your dish soap and they'll slide right on and "snap" into place.

We love ours. A problem with the orange "lego"-style leveler blocks is that they's extremely slippery; I've seen trailers roll and their landing gear actually slide off of them if wheels weren't properly chocked. The SnapPads are also very "asphalt-friendly" on my driveway extension where the 5th wheel is parked. To each their own, I guess.

Just be sure to secure the wheels. If you forget the extra grip you get with snap pads might snap or bend your jacks if the rv does move. If the jack pads can't slide something has to give

Thanks for gitting back to me. Making a choice between a class a and a fifhwheel is difficult. A class a you need to tow a car, a fithwheel you need a truck. If you decide that you do not like full time rv. Then which is easier to sell. A class A or a fithwheel? The truck you can easily trade in for a car. Can you do the same with a Class A. We want to travel, but do not have thousands of dollars for motels.

So funny... I have been poopooing (is that a word?) the Snap Pads as well. Using the yellow plastic blocks. We put the snap pads on our 27Ft Airstream last year and have enjoyed the upgrade and seen value in it. Our Airstream has puny little feet on it (by comparison) and the snap pads gave us a nice cushion. Plus, I don't have to get down and screw around with blocks and pads etc every time we set up and tear down. Is it a "must have"? Nope. Not by a mile. But they are a nice addition and we've seen value in them. YMMV of course

I don't get the whole snap pad thing either. 1. They don't meaningfully expand your jack's footprint, so if the ground is soft, you'll still sink in. 2. If your campsite is firm but uneven, you'll still have to use leveling blocks. And by the way....you guys are hilarious!

Late to the show! I replaced the metal feet with Snapjacks. The OEM construction of the metal feet was simple and made of stamped/folded steel while the Snapjacks (I'm not sponsored by them!) is heavier and the joints are welded. We use our trailer as our mobile hotel studio as Darla (my better half) has specific needs in regards to her disability. So parking on concrete is more likely than not. The rubber footing gives me a better piece of mind, especially when it's really windy!
    PS Love your show!

snap pads; to me, are more of an item you use for someone else. On hot days you dont want your feet digging into a parks asphalt. You also would not want your feet leaving holes in a friends yard. We use them to keep the RV feet in good repair but other than that, they dont bring much to the table. They do not help with stability. Great video.

We have both, Anderson Buckets and just switched to the snap pads becuz some of the sites we go to won’t level correctly with the Buckets. I personally LOVE the Buckets as they make the RV way more stable to move around in. After watching Chad and Tara my wife ordered the snap pads and although they add some size to our levelers footprint they do nothing for the movement in the RV. We just put two scissor jacks under the rear of the toy hauler and that has made a big difference.
