I have friends who work in healthcare who suffer from deep moral injury. Theyre still in debt for their education, but no longer agree with the system they must work within. I am a former mental health profesional myself, and a career pivot has been crucial to my wellbeing. We should all listen to our bodies intuitions.

I have been in this health road since 1980. I am now 62. I have been waiting years for this to happen the big wake up.
I love your podcast Myiam &Johnathan. I have watched & listened to them all. I don’t do doctors never have! Eat as much Whole Foods that r available. I stopped fast food in 1980 when I was 18. Given a book in 83 called Shopper Consumer Beware. It explains what they do to the food we consume. How advertising tricks people into thinking things are healthy and they r not. I use to drink soy milk along with my kids as well. I got away from the American diet and lost 30 lbs that I have kept off for 40 yrs.

    • @danmarquez3971
      @danmarquez3971 2 місяці тому

@@perfectpeace352 Wow! That is a great question! I found studying the basics on immunology (on UA-cam is OK) and the digestive tract is a great start. Then things start to slowly make sense. I wrote in one comment that I was "stunned by the connection between diet and disease, including neurological diseases, autoimmune diseases, and bad knees. Graves' disease, for instance, is often exacerbated with dairy. MS is often exacerbated by gluten. Gluten sensitivity is often exacerbated by dysbiosis which allows gluten to enter bloodstream and trigger immune responses. Epilepsy is often exacerbated with a lack of GABA-producing probiotics. Kidney stones (oxalate sensitivity) are often exacerbated by low stomach acid. Heavy metals can accumulate without chlorophyl-rich foods (leafy greens). Trace insecticides can enter the blood stream without flaxseed fiber. Heightened sensitivity to caffeine can be blamed on dysbiosis, where caffeine can enter the bloodstream quickly. Holy moly!"
Copilot helped me design all sorts of recipes, including smoothie, for treating various ailments. It does the research for you, calculates amounts of ingredients, and somehow knows how to make the smoothies taste great. I ask, "Can you make a vegan recipe for an immune boosting smoothie that... What vegan supplements can help?"

I remember back in the 70s when food was food and food was GOOD! It tasted like food and not chemicals or in some cases it tastes like nothing! I remember product 19 cereal omg it was so good and they discontinued it and all the foods I grew up on have now altered flavor because of chemical engineering 😢 it’s not right but at least I got to taste those real pure foods back then cuz I sure can’t now! Even the candy like Kit Kat and Reese’s peanut butter cups are gone! They still look the same but the flavor isn’t there😢 and I picked up some croissants from Walmart thinking they’re okay but got home to see yellow dye in them? It’s a shame I wouldn’t feed animals this stuff😢 actually pet food is probably healthier😮

Yes, not everyone has milk supply, but sometimes that can be increased by things like malta beverage and other diet changes or incorporations and if latching is an issue, pumping can be used. As for larger babies, sometimes that can be a result of gestational diabetes and sometimes can be mitigated with diet changes. There are times that a Caesarean section is needed though, but lately it’s overly used.

At timestamp 1:58:32 Mayim mentions something that stopped me in my tracks! I have been struggling with a respiratory issue for nearly one full week now and I could not figure out what it is or why I have it. No one else around me has become sick. There are no signs of it being infectious in any way. I just have this periodic tickle/irritation in my throat that makes me cough so hard that my vocal cords are becoming inflamed (not to the point of a medical emergency so please don't panic). When Mayim mentioned her lung complaints being a representation of her grief, I nearly dropped what was in my hands and instantly yelled, "THATS IT!" I struggle with severe chronic grief that is increased from September through early spring. I knew the grief was there. I know what month it is, and I also know that today, September 9, 2024, is 20 years since my youngest child was diagnosed with a brain tumor that would end her life just four months and three days later. I also lost another child to leukemia on November 19, 2010, and my father passed in September 2007. Needless to say, there is a lot of grief during this time of year for me. This lung and throat irritation, cough, or whatever thing that is driving me nuts right now is very likely a somatic response or representation of my grief.
Thank you for all that you do here at the Breakdown! I have such a deep appreciation for you all!

I ended up seeing a reiki master for treatment and she thought it was important to my health to learn it- so she taught and passed down and I have had my reiki masters for 5 years. It’s hard to explain to people energy work but once you feel it there’s no denying it’s everywhere. She had introduced me to cranial sacral therapy which is AMAZING!!! Probably my favorite. I believe when you are open to learning and you want desperately to heal- you will find the practitioners you need. I see a kinesiologist who had done QBF and I’ve even had Baud frequently therapy…(also amazing)

What is so disheartening is indeed we now know that healing is so much more robust than the standard system of "care" we are in, and that we are essentially forced to accept that corporate and political greed is what is running our wellness "industry". (and, quite frankly, dominates every aspect of most industries.) It is refreshing to know that someone as renowned as Dr. Weil is fully aware and educating people, but what can we do with this knowledge if we are actively engaging and participating in a system that is broken? Who will advocate for humanity if we don't collectively educate ourselves and as consumers, take a stand for ourselves and the generations to come? I would love to know how to be part of positive change for true healing in the world that would welcome this approach. It will require all of us to take a stand of some kind in order to "take down" that beast for certain. Thank you for always eloquently and carefully providing us with these guests and helpful topics. The awareness you both bring is always raised responsibly in contrast to so much of what is not accurately being put out in social media these days.

Food is medicine!! Totally agree. Also support the food groups proposed by the Dr. However, please be mindful of the impact of social media’s healthy living movement and its role in initiating eating disorders, such as anorexia. If the Dr’s diet was followed in adequate quantities it would be fantastic, but sometimes vulnerable young people respond by removing certain ‘bad’ types of food from their diet for fear of becoming obese - for a perfectionist, this can quickly turn into severe restriction and ultimately malnutrition and starvation. Health at every size is important as is eating healthy anti inflammatory food. The two are not incompatible, but can be hard for a person predisposed to anorexia from making health choices. Thank you for sharing

What's so interesting is the way cold veggies are digested in our bodies compared to hot ones. If everyone ate basic food with minimum processing would we be healthier? Surprisingly, one of the most processed foods of all are fruit juices.

One of the things that needs to happen, (IMO) is we have to stop using the term "health care" when what we are really talking about is medical care. I know Japan does this, I don't know about S. Korea. There may even be some kind of monetary penalty, like a tax, if the person's next checkup isn't better. I think it's a great idea.

Wonderful discussion. Dr. Weil has remained so steadfast about integrative medicine. Such a pioneer and cheer leader.
I'm glad that the subject of energy medicine was brought up. I became a reiki master in the early 2000's. I volunteered doing reiki sessions at a church and at a facility for cancer patients/survivors and their families. We explained that reiki was a Japanese technique and that the session was for relaxation and to reduce stress. We did not use the term "healing". A major medical facility in my area now offers reiki and/or healing touch. Nice that they acknowledge there may be something to energy medicine, but I am concerned they may be looking at it as another thing from which to profit.

Microdosing was the next thing I planned for my husband. He's 59 & facing many mental health issues, probably CTE & a TBI that left him in a coma for 8 days. Sadly, I had to get a TPO because he's 6'6, over 300 pounds, and displaying violent behavior, always talking about hurting others. He's really aggressive. If anyone out there knows about BPD, is it common to have an obsession with violence?

There is significant information about cholesterol that does not agree with the western medical model, if that's one thing you're concerned about. The Great Cholesterol Myth is one book. It's also important to not use seed oils.

There are some channels on UA-cam that have talked about the Teflon coating on pans being bad to cook with, and if your airfryer has this, it will affect health. And if it's plastic, that would be bad too heating plastic that hot. Idk what the airfryers are made of to give you a full answer. I would look into it if you are concerned.

before I even begin to watch this video, let me say that this is the MOST important guest you could have on, to talk about health through nutrition and lifestyle choices. He has been my guru since 2013, when I discovered him and his common sense approaches to health and healing. There has not been a single thing he has said or written about health that doesn't make perfect good sense and is sustainable. Bravo to you for having the great Dr. Weil on. We can and should all learn heaps of longevity strategies from him. I only wish I could consult with him in either his canada or us office. (if you can, please ask him if he still consults with patients? I've written to his integrative medicine center in Arizona but never received a reply.) Meeting with and consulting him is HIGH up on my bucket list.

Excellent podcast with Dr. Weil 👏🏻👏🏻 GERD was raised a few times & Dr. Weil said having no acid in the stomach is not a good thing. I was hoping SO much that he would have given steps on HOW TO CORRECT IT 😩 I've been on PPI's for 30 years and every time I told GI/PCP/Endocrinologists that it's not normal, they just look at me blankly. TALK ABOUT FRUSTRATING!!!!

    • @RobertLandHoustonSportsTalk

Here's a video from Dr. Mark Hyman which talks about how to get rid of Gerd. I've had a lot of gut issues caused from antibiotics - bacterial infection, tumor, etc. Hopefully, you're eating tons of fiber, fermented food (plain kefir, sauerkraut, kimchi) & staying with a whole food diet. From my understanding, Gerd is most likely caused by low stomach acid, not vice versa. I take Betaine HCL with each meal - and add a splash of apple cider vinegar to my water before I eat. If you have constipation, that's likely low stomach acid. You should be going to bathroom at least once a day. ua-cam.com/video/Cw11-jKZr9g/v-deo.htmlsi=jMICcfKcnbmPEOHV

When I went keto my GERD stopped about the time I had my first 10 lb weight loss. When I ate excessive carbs or processed foods is when the reflux kicked on.
Keto is really just eating clean, no seed oils or legumes, and limit very sugary fruits or carby veggies like potatoes.
