although today's race was not the result i wanted, i gave it everything i had and could not be leaving with a fuller heart.

it was overwhelmingly beautiful to have so many people tell me i have had such an impact on their lives. it left me speechless. i don’t think I've ever cried so many tears of both joy and sadness at the same time.
•
crossing the line had given it everything I had, i was disappointed and in tears… but was immediately surrounded by so many who pulled me to my feet, hugged me, and reminded me of everything i have overcome these past four years and season. my tears of disappointment turned to tears of gratitude. getting a hug from my team hearing the words “you're more than your time and place” reminded me why i run-the people.

i want to thank everyone who came up to me today and has sent messages. i never realized how much of an impact sharing my story could have, but i’m forever thankful i’ve shared mine.

i could not have asked for a more beautiful, wholesome, and heartwarming ending to my last HS cross country season. 4A state runner-up with the effort i gave today is something i am proud of.

although this is an end of a chapter, it’s the beginning of an even better one

This made me so happy and touched me. I joined cross country this pass season and watching your videos helped me to fall in love with running more. I’m only in middle school, so i still have many more seasons that I am so looking forward to. This cross country season, I experienced so many emotions and had issues with my anxiety and breathing at many races that really limited me. I have been about to pass out and not breathe and my anxiety makes it all way worse. I’ve been trying to control my breathing and anxiousness more and can’t wait for the next season. You are such an inspiration and I love you so much! I would love to meet you some day. Your videos always bring me such joy.

Sorry to randomly reply to your comment, but a group of high school runners and I are creating a project to showcase unique and powerful running stories, different ways endurance sports have changed lives. I also run xc and I've had full blown panic attacks on the starting line before, so I really understand how overwhelming this sport can be. Are you interested in possibly joining the project or just hearing more about it. Totally fine if not, have a great season!

thank you so much for talking abt this. im a runner and im currently struggling with an eating disorder and i have been for a very long time. im doing well now in races and its hard to comprehend that my ed is still holding me back from my full potential. watching videos like this makes me feel inspired that there is a chance for total recovery and to really see the hard work pay off. so proud of you and thank you for sharing your story:)

Ugh this made me so happy I’m starting my running journey back up I’ve been hurt and going to pt I haven’t been able to run or do anything and I’m thinking about starting xc next year if my knee works out but Idk yet because I play softball, swim and run track! I’m excited to see my running journey and even start UA-cam and vlogging my recovery I had a eating disorder and struggle with mental health and I really want to start documenting my journey to help others!

I think you will be wonderful motivational speaker for others. I think you will be an excellent racing coach to others as well. I am happy i came across this channel i enjoy following along keep up the great job and you are right runners comunitte is great i am a call emt for a local fire department in auburn nh we have a lot of road races that i do medical srand bys for and its fun to cheer along the runners and see the crowd get into the race
such a great video and i love hearing other people, especially girls my age, talking about this sport. i can definitely relate to all the challenges running can bring along with being a young girl. thank you for this

Nice to see you back and sorry about your injury and what happened😭 Then it's important to stay positive, because of the pandemia we all had a difficult year. At least, it looks like it's getting better in the US, here in France it's getting worse and worse and now even if we are vaccinated, we have to wear again the mask full time indoor!

Awhh I understand EXACTLY what you were feeling!! I have been dealing with eating disorders for more than 4 years at the same time as I have been trying to improve as a runner and an orienteerer. I've been through very tough times and I've honestly been questioning if i would ever be able to compete at a high level again. This year, when I came in 10th and 7th place at the Swedish Championships in sprint orienteering I almost broke down crying because of how proud I was by myself. I still have quite a long way to go, if I will ever be completely well mentally and physically, but I just wanted to say that you have really helped me trust my body a bit more in recovery and you have also made me realize what is important in life. Sounds cliché, but I mean it. Your excitement and joy for running is truly inspiring

I was 6 seconds from making state for 6a Texas State XC. I’m a freshman and my PR is a 19.38. What was you freshman PR and what division do you compete in?
THATS GREAT!! my freshman PR is 17:56 but i had been running for a longgggg time! a 19:38 is SO GOOD and leaves you room to improve over high school! keep it up and can’t wait to see you make it to states ur sophomore year!!💜💜💜
