I feel that Yamaha lost some sales not getting this right to the dealers at the start of the year. I know I would of picked this one up instead of the 2016 zx14r.
I've had various larger bikes (Vmax 1200/ GSX1400/ MT-01) but none of them had this type of power. I prefer the larger engine bikes for their presence and physical size (I am 6 feet tall, 220lbs large build) but none of my previous bikes would wheelie without very determined provocation. This machine seems to wheelie without warning. Main concern is in the UK at least I believe you can get a ban for just being seen lifting the front wheel even if it is by mistake. Appreciate any comments from guys who regularly ride this sort of high power bike. Like the MT-10 but it may be too much for me to handle.
I own the 2019 MT10 and the 2018 VMAX Gen 2. Not even close in power (I know you said 1200). The Gen 2 VMAX is simply a beast. The MT10 is fast and amazing but pure power goes to the VMAX. Surprisingly the Gen 2 Max corners phenomenally well. I am a huge Yamaha fan and have written off lots of European bikes for the Yamaha beasts. The MT10 is one of the few bikes that blew me away within the first 1 mile of riding it, highly recommended because it is areal world bike not just a race bike trying to work on the street.
How does it compare to the new Street Triple R? Sure, there's more power and hooliganism on tap but does the more Gentlemanly SpeedTriple provide a more every-day practicality over the MT10?
I think these are the rivals: Speed Triple, Tuono, S1000R, GSX-S 1000, Z1000 and CB1000R. My choise would probably be the GSX-S 1000 because it got less of what i don't need and seems more pure fun.
well, i think a V2 with more cc's is a slightly different class but i have included a triple also so perhaps you are right these V2's belong in the group.
They're pretty close in power, and share similar ergos and fill the same roles for riding, so I'd say so. Out of all those bikes I'd go for the Tuono or the Super Duke. I was this close to getting the Duke actually, test rode it and all, but it was just too much $ for a bike that checked only some boxes in the kinds of riding I wanted to do. Ended up with a Multistrada. Nearly the same butt kicking power, similar ergos, but much better wind protection and incomparable passenger and luggage accommodations. I can throw a small screen on and take all the bags off and it's like an oversized supermoto, or I can load the thing up and take off for a week without getting tired. More bang for the buck IMO. But anyway.
OK, you have convinced me. That make the choice even harder. I have a 06 CB600F Hornet which i want to swap for a bigger naked. I don't need much wind protection and luggagecapacity and like the simplicity of a naked bike. I think Ducati's are cool bikes but the Monsters have too agressive ergos and i don't like the short maintenance periods for valves etc especially the aircooled.
ruysk The new Monsters have slightly more accommodating ergos (821 and 1200 vs 1100) and much longer service intervals than the old ones (18k for valves on my Multi, I think similar for the new Monsters). If I were to get a sporty naked now, and not worry about luggage and wind protection, I'd be taking a hard, hard look at the Tuono 1100 Factory. I rode the original Tuono V4 and it was a crazy beast, the new one is supposed to be crazier and I did get to sit on it, they improved the ergos and looks over the earlier V4. It feels really small and nimble.
sounds great but just 350 pounds difference to the BMW? that isn't a lot. Plus the BMW's engine creates loads of power down low while the R1 engine needs 7000 revs before the power kicks in.. it looks better though. But then again most bikes look better than a BMW S 1000 R :-))))
It looks like it has a similar exhaust design where you can leave the headers as they are and remove the collector & can separately! This makes it more affordable to get rid of that ugly ass standard system!
You have ridden both bikes haven't you? If you have and you think this is a better bike then the S1000R then you need to stop taken whatever drugs your on and get to rehab asap.
If this doesn't have the stupid farting and crackling exhaust like the new S1000 has then this is a winner in my eyes. (or ears) Couldn't really hear from this video.
I think Yamaha has been hanging with Kawasaki TOO MUCH...I just can't get around to like that face 😦😦😦😦(total Dog Barf). Other than that, it looks to be a PROPER motorcycle. 👍
+Shark Finn yamaha has great resale value to my understanding and ktm I'm not 100% sure about. maybe test drive both and make the decision yourself bro.
This is a fantastic bike. I've ridden one, and it truly is a perfect street bike!
id rather hear the engine noise instead of the crappy background music

Definetly. But for ppl with english as second language it isn't clearly understandable sometimes.
You what. Basically reads a script... Poorly

You bought a very different class of bike. If you wanted at MT10, why not get another supernaked? Instead you got a 600 pound cruise missile.
I own several bikes, basically I love all kinds from nakeds to full fairings. I'm sure you get tired of same position and style after a while.
Well done again mate, thanks. Still can't come at the fluoro wheels but rest looks nice. Cruise control is a nice surprise.
yamaha should make a 1200 twin or triple MT-12.
A most informative video, thank you.

This guy for me at least is the best motorcycle reviewer out there
Baron Von Grumble at 3:11 ??????
thats defo 44 teeth sticker. Must be Baron!
is the optional quickshifter a full up and down shifter or up only ?
+andrew bryceland Up only.
The race kit option has downshift
How does it compare to the new Street Triple R?

It is Galvatron!!
those engine case savers come with the bike? When is Yamaha going to pull their finger out and make black/grey engine cases for thee current R1
Regarding wind protection: what do you consider an average rider height?
Only one small headlight.bit does it work well unlike my sprint st
You need to include the Tuono and KTM in that test lads!
yamaha screwed up with the price point why pay for a 15,000 mt-10 when its suposed to be the next step up to a fz o9 i dont get the 15,000 price tags
Great review.
Would you ever be under the speed limit on something like that? I'd crash within 10 mins.

And the Super Duke and Monster 1200.

I like the front on video.. sweet bike
한국에서는 얼마에 팔리까..?
mt.09 1300이니까..
이늠은 1800만원??
this thing is a beast
How does it compare to the Super Duke and the BMW s1000r?
Cheaper than a Super Duke. That's the only thing it has going for it. Maybe a wider dealer network, if that worries you.
I've ridden all the naked bikes except for the Super Duke and I think the MT 10 is the best all around bike of them all.
my bike list: used 2008 ninja 250r - 2018 fz07 - THIS! XD
GSX-S1000 looks way better! :-)
These review is so boring... obviously read out loud... quite badly as well.
Cool music. Soundtrack anyone ¬
dasand rudestorm
+adi ansari lol fail
+Paolo Deidda yup it's not sandstorm, hope someone else has the answer
+sachin mb you didn t understood
what kind of leather riding jacket is that?
Potentially a good review but I was lost after just a few minutes - speaking far too fast for me.
Give me one that looks like a classic bike and I'm there. I don't ride Transformers.
sammy wants!!!!
You have ridden both bikes haven't you? If you have and you think this is a better bike then the S1000R then you need to stop taken whatever drugs your on and get to rehab asap.
Hay if it works better for you then ride the bitch.
If this doesn't have the stupid farting and crackling exhaust like the new S1000 has then this is a winner in my eyes. (or ears)

what a fuckinf bike man
I think Yamaha has been hanging with Kawasaki TOO MUCH...I just can't get around to like that face 😦😦😦😦(total Dog Barf). Other than that, it looks to be a PROPER motorcycle. 👍
I much rather have the front end and paint job on the mt-10 AD Koncept(s). Hope Yamaha reconsiders their styling choices...doubt it...LMAO.
I like the styling ;)
Varalis Hey...beautiful or horrid everyone needs an admirer. LOL.
+JIGA BACHI Hahaha true
Amazing Bike...
So angry and beauty , the dark side of yamaha give to as the best ..
Don't like the look of this one Yamaha lots of folk will though
Great bike for the cheap guy, But it ain't a BMW !
hurrr durrrr
Yea it’s a Yamaha these motors are bulletproof, I’m a rich guy and I have one, ha:)!! BMW reliability is not that good but to each their own
GSXS-1000 :-)
145 hp....👎
+Dany Guay lol yeah that's not nearly enough.
+schnitzjr mt-10 only has 15 more hp
+TheJerseymuscle MT-10 it's MONSTER
+Dany Guay I wouldn't give up my flashed fz09 for this bike. Double the price, heavier, higher insurance rates, ...just not appealing to me.
APRILIA TUONO ONLY!!!
"Potentially the ultimate super naked..." HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA....HA
Are you a robot
Sorry...but an awful review. Great info but mono tone voice and bad reading skills made that difficult to listen to.
Awesome bike but sounds like a scooter
Ride it, it will change your mind very quickly
I don't know, bmw looks better....
Just don't compare it to the KTM SUPER DUKE as its in a different category,
I agree with that. The ktm is something completely different
do you mean better or worse?
+Shark Finn better! though the super duke is a 2 cylinder compared to the 4 cylinder mt 10, the ktm is smooth and extremely powerful for a naked bike
I was thinking of buying one thats why I asked...all three Tuono, SuperDukeR and MT10 are the options....HOWEVER I dont know that I can sell my bike
+Shark Finn yamaha has great resale value to my understanding and ktm I'm not 100% sure about. maybe test drive both and make the decision yourself bro.
