Sharks extreme healing abilities are well known and well researched.
They can't regenerate lost parts as far as I know but their wounds, even severe ones close very quickly.

My wife wanted to go to Australia so bad when we got married. I told her that all the scars I have across my back were from a jellyfish. Now this was back in the early 90s.
I studied crocodiles and my uncle has a pretty large place in Australia. Anyway that jellyfish almost killed me and it did make me scared of getting back into the water.
On our honeymoon I flew us from New Orleans to Sydney Australia. My wife found out that I wasn't joking and that the Box jellyfish is one of the most venomous animals in the world. So we went to a spot that had the nets around and I still wasn't going into the water. I think after a couple of hours she figured out that I wasn't playing and I was really scared of the jellyfish.
I don't know how I feel about sharks. All I do know is that you might be able to see them coming too eat you. A jellyfish on the other hand, they are just floating along and if you get into the way..... Just hope that you have the help I got that day.

I saw a documentary on that box jellyfish, and I was shocked. A researcher accidentally got stung, taking off her glove. She nearly lost her life and described the pain. You can barely see them. I'd never go in any water they're known to live in.

The Box jellyfish is one of the only things that really stuck out when the kids, and I watched everything that can kill you in Australia. The show should have been titled, " you will never ever ever ever have an once of desire to set one foot on Australia after you watch this program" .

Salt is a natural antiseptic as well as an element they can soothe pain. My guess would be that the salt content of the ocean keeps the wound from getting infected and keeps the shark from feeling much or any pain at all.

Anyone who cares about great white sharks should know the island of Guadalupe in Mexico has closed it's marine park to cage diver's and tourist's. This is important because the presence of the boats kept poacher's away. They didn't end fishing in those water's and without them patrolling and protecting the park, the Great whites are sitting ducks for shark finner's. There's around 400 GW sharks around the island and they are thought to be the ones that populate the world's shark population. This could mean the end for Great white's. What you can do is contact the Mexican government and tell them the park needs regulated protection, and you can share this message. The more people who know and share on social media, the more pressure it will put on the Mexican government.

The scar was from a seal or sea lion - the shark had no choice but to "trooper on" as it's not like it could swim around with its hands clutched over the wound and complain that it hurt.
Unlike humans, animals can't take sick days because if they don't hunt then they don't eat, so like humans who don't get paid time off, sick or well, happy or sad, they show up for work every day.
