@@ThatGuyz82 Why won't they fear a croc heavier than them and as big as them though? a croc as big as a hippo is quite intimidating considering that hippos are huge as hell. And then they see a croc as big or is bigger than them. Making them have a run for their money. 🤷‍♂🤷‍♂
Although if it's a pack of hippos' vs 1 giant croc it's still obvious that the hippos would win.

According to Corbett's own account, during autopsy he found that a large section of the leopard's mouth was burned out, assumed to be the result of cyanide poisoning, possibly thanks to a previous attempt by some other hunter to kill the animal. Which only led to the demise of more civilians. It took Corbett seven years to hunt the animal, and he blamed himself for not managing to kill it on his first attempt several years ago, so that he could've saved at least 100+ kills in the years between.
But yeah, the animal became addicted to human flesh due to our issues. In the region where it hunted, it was massively poverty stricken back in the day, and during a cholera epidemic, people simply didn't have the money to cremate their dead. So they just threw the bodies down cliffs sticking a piece of burning coal in their mouths. These bodies clearly became the leopard's main food source.

Too many people were eaten by crocodiles for it to be the work of just one animal -- crocs don't kill for sport. Additionally, there is a biological limit on how big a reptile can grow, and while Gustav was enormous he simply couldn't consume that many humans.

    • @Mastermirror89

@@justincraig398 The video said many things.
The thing is, it's all based on hearsay essentially. That's the first problem, as that's just about the least reliable source.
I think it's a bit unrealistic because for a croc to just go around killing things without eating them afterwards would be quite abnormal behaviour. They're as primitive as it gets, they kill to eat and not "for fun".
At least I've never heard of that, but I'm not an expert. Even the reported numbers feel insane for a single croc and people love to just use scapegoats so the idea that crocodile related deaths in general were attributed to this one single "monster croc" makes sense. Seems exactly like what humans would do.

The metric system is inadequate for many things where the metric is not fine enough or not easily relatable in equations, especially hunting. For this reason we retain degrees (360), grains for gunpowder and projectiles (15 to a gram, 7000 to a pound) feet per second, MOA approximate to inches, and calibre in inches also. I was raised metric but it is easier to work with an integrated system like imperial for integrated issues like ballistics.

Jim Corbett hunted many maneating animals in India and he also wrote books about a fair few of his hunts. For anyone who'd like to listen to some of Jim's books in audiobook format, I'd recommend the channel "SELVA LORE."
Bob Gymlan also has a very harrowing audiobook "style" dramatization of the Sankebetsu brown near attack on his channel. It's honestly one of the most horrifying animal attack stories I've ever heard and Bob does a great job really hammering home the bitter bleakness of the situation. This video mentioned the Sankebetsu bear was 700 pounds, but wildly, the bear was actually critically underweight and should have weighed closer to 2000 or so pounds, which is why it tried to eat basically the entire family and almost succeeded.

It’s kindof sad that most large cats were killed in the southeast, but people didn’t take kindly to their little ones being eaten or their life stop becoming prey. Then again, how did the native American handle it?
Still I imagine what it could be like if large panthers and mountain lions were prevalent these days. Humans would have killed them all at any and every point I guess. But we are getting stupid and lazy without having to worry about natural predators

There is a movie called "the goest and the darkness". It´s about two lions who killed more than 100 men. It´s a long time ago I watched it, so I don´t remeber if it´s a good film. But I thought maybe someone would be interessted.

It is based on a true story, but they left out the reason why the lions did it. The humans killed all prey animals to feed the railroad workers, so the lions were hungry.

Pretty sure if the military did it in there would not be debate over the issue. I am pretty sure he probably just died of natural causes. He was estimated to have been born 1955 and said to be dead 2019. that is 64 years old.
