I was reading a koi book and it said there is always parasites in your pond, so don’t treat them if you see low levels of parasites.

Great pond and good video, what is the fluke dosage regime he taps about?

Sorry it must have been edited out. For body flukes Day 1 full dose, Day 2 half dose and day 3 half dose. If gill flukes repeat 3-7 days afterwards depending on your water temperature. There is a video on it on Koi Talk. No7 I think but stand to be corrected (with Jos).

Would you consider turning off the trickle tower when treating for flukes as it can strip out the treatment quickly?

Apart from the Bakki, what other biological filtration is there?
You mention the 2 drums, are there bio bays, moving beds attached?

Looking at the clarity of the water, id say its not being filtered properly, like the bottom isnt the correct shape / the drains arent doing theit job properly. Drums should be getting the water better than that. Id ditch the Bakki Shower, think they are ugly too. Build a nice pond, hide all your gear in a filter room to then have a huge black tower sat by the pond?

Hi Nick, thanks for your input. Unfortunately the few weeks before filming my motor on the Filtreu drum stopped working and they are not so easy to get hold of so reliant on the Oase Compact that will only do 4000 gallons so lost clarity. Also amalgam UV out of action for the same period in sunny conditions didn't help! Fitted new motor 2 days before filming so had been off for over two weeks. Also also my EA pump to my bakki shower packed in (only 14 months old) and that too was replaced two days before filming. Normally the water is gin clear. I can assure you if anything the pond is over filtered using 2 drums running from two bottom drains and a skimmer, capable of double the pond volume. With 24 fish in 6000 gallons I don't think I am over stocked either. Real shame the clarity of the water was at its worse but a bit out of my control on this occasion. I hate the bakki shower too but it was looking ok up to the pump packing in but all the "Mind Your Own Business" died off which did help disguise it. For some reason (happened twice now) when my bakki shower is off for a week or so when back up and running produces lots of unsightly foam. I am open to ideas to replace the bakki shower but when off I did get nitrite spikes? The fish have not spawned and definitely not from over feeding as they were not fed for 3 days prior to the shower being switched back on. The filming was done 1 week ago today and the water is now back to its best both clarity and parameter wise.

reason people love above ground ponds .... is basically we love our kids more than fish ... i rather see a fish floating than my kid. but for people whos kids have flown the nest i can see the appeal.
also chemical and and bird shite water run offs causes major issues in ground ponds that is basically ignored its the elephant in the room
