What a perfect performance of this piece. Not heard that often with the orchestra, it is lovely to hear Jacob’s music so beautifully performed. Well done Anne Murray - what a gorgeous sound you make!
I never knew this piece existed until 10 minutes ago so it's nice to see the UA-cam recommendations do get things right once in a while. I'm going to have to order the sheet music for it. Thanks very much for uploading this gem.
I am finally ready to say "Good bye" to my Cor Anglais, after retiring from double reeds three years ago. Recalled performing this marvelous piece in high school. You have done a great job interpreting Jacobs' wide range of English horn virtuosity. Thank you for this gift as I bid farewell to my instrument.
@@janemurray2381 Yes, but joyful that another person will be using this fine instrument, rather than it sitting under my bed. I vividly recalled the process of 'auditioning' five (5) new Loreés in Los Angeles, at two different stores. It was Jacobs' pianissimo slur down and the dancing high notes that separated JT-73 from the other four. All the best to you for a great 2020!
This is a fine illustration of why the English horn is the instrument of preference for evoking a plaintive quality. Its tonal range delivers the perfect sound in this instance. Ack! What happened at the beginning of minute 3 in this video?
