I used Pixie Spray, a respositionable light tack adhesive for stencils, and it made it for much more accurate cutting. You just spray a little bit on the stencil and the stencil will not accidentally shift while cutting,
Just picked up 3 of these June Taylor Christmas tree skirt pattern today at their whose sale in Wisconsin and purchased your baegello pattern on line....going to stat these tomorrow
This is so beautiful. Do you have any suggestions on making this even larger? Maybe adding on to the JT batting and winging it with extra strips on the panel section? We have an enormous tree that needs a larger skirt. It’s always been a problem finding something large enough (that I like). Thanks!
I think your suggested method would work for making this larger. Let us know how it turns out! We'll just be imaging your gorgeous Christmas tree! - Morgan
Did you figure out how to enlarge this pattern? I always find skirts are covered up by the branches. I agree, This is way too much work to cover up! Thnx for sharing.
Hi bclawr - You may want to use a walking foot for that. When we engage the dual feed on our Bernina 770 QE, it does mimic a walking foot, so we tend to use it frequently. -Michelle
I absolutely love this. So adorable❗🎄 Question. Why are the wedges not cut out of a traditional strip set that is sewn into a tube. Then you just seam rip it at the correct color. Their might be some fabric waste is all I could guess. But it would be a lot faster. Regardless love the June Tailor kit.
I believe if you were to cut these triangles from a strip set you would not get the swirl affect. For instance, the green plaid would be in the same place on every triangle. Using the Bargello method, for example, on the first triangle the green fabric would be the top fabric, then on the second triangle the green plaid would be the second fabric from the top, and on the third triangle that green plaid will be the in the third poison down. With every triangle the green plaid moves down one position creating that swirl. In a strip set that green plaid will be in the same position on every triangle creating a totally different affect.
@@suep4036 Hi Sue. You would get the swirl effect if you sewed your strip set into a "tube". You sew the top strip & the bottom strip together forming a tube. Then if it were a traditional bargello you would cut the correct size strips & seam rip at the color fabric to get the effect. Since this is sliced into wedges, I would just shift the tube into the correct color placement & then cut it out. Swirl effect achieved. I'm still guessing there would be waste fabric, but the flip side that is not used could probably make a 2nd tree skirt if you made the tube long enough. There are many ways to approach a design, I was just trying to find a faster way. Have fun!
Sunflower Baby Thank you for that information. There’s always something new to learn in this craft. I appreciate the suggestion. I ordered the kit and am looking forward to making it. It’s so pretty.
Is it possible to still make this without duplicate strips in the jelly roll? Or will the bargello effect disappear without having the exact same patterns throughout? The jelly roll I want to use has 40 strips but there are 37 different designs in this roll. So only a couple repeat. Just wondering if I can stick with the same color family and still get the same result. I hope this makes sense!
Hi elektrick273 - If you're not able to use duplicates, the design may not have the same effect. If you choose a similar design/shade, it may produce a similar result, but not exact. Hope this helps! -Michelle
I’m getting ready to make this (BEAUTIFul by the way??). I bought the pattern and its kind of fuzzy; the directions. It says on page 1 to cut (2) 21/2 x width of fabric of each of the reds and greens. Then below that it say (1) 21/2 z 10” for A and so on through I. Am i ready it correctly that I will cut one of each of the sizes??
Yes. Each set of two strips should give you ONE set of 9 pieces (A-I). Hope that helps! Please let us know if you have any further questions. -Michelle
I've been searching here and the website for clarification. I was coordinating the cut fabric - A-I and none included the 4 whites. So it appears if i follow the picture, I'm going to have a lot of wasted cut pieces from strips. I will finish this but I doubt I'll make it again using this pattern unless there is a change.
This is beautiful!!! Sincere question - I’m comfortable using a sewing machine, but have never quilted before, so is this too ambitious for me - or is it achievable for a patient beginner at quilting?
This is absolutely achievable for you! You could do very simple top-quilting, like stitching "in the ditch" around each shape, or doing straight lines. - Morgan
I did try, and it was very challenging for me to have perfectly even and consistent seams from piece to piece. I found I was not as patient as I thought, so I put it aside and have not gotten back to it.
I would like the pattern, batting and triangle template but your website says they are out of stock. When will they be back in stock? shipping to Ontario, Canada as well.
