- BRUTAL DOOM Insanity Nightmares Weapon Showcase, it is a fork of Brutal Doom v20 that adds a lot of new monsters together with arsenal of new weapons and even items, made by killerfrosty. Please keep in mind that it is a fork of v20 so performance issues are to be expected. Few weapons in the arsenal can be upgraded with way stronger counterparts - Beretta has increased magazine, silencer and collimator, Pump-Action Shotgun can fire 3 shells in rapid succession, SMG gets indendiary rounds and a short flamethrower while Assault Shotgun gets a lot faster and received a huge 25 shell drum. And yes, I know that inside the pk3 there are some more weapons but they are not available ingame or they are simply unfinished with many sprites missing. BTW. you can also use the Shoulder Cannon & Flamer like an usable item.

The Unmaker is still, IMO, the most brutal weapon ever introduced into the Doom universe. Like a flamethrower, shooting unholy, cursed napalm.
Actually in Doom 64 it was a deadly laser weapon able to be upgraded to murder 3x deadly.
Definitely feel like there's a bit of Bloat in the amount of weapons here and the muzzle flash is pretty obnoxious but the sprites themselves are very nice, the Minigun, Heavy Plasma Gun, Nailgun and Unmaker especially.
this is what keeps me from these weapon add-on mods. they always overdo it
@@Fallconn2 it would be fine IMO if they cut out like 5-8 guns at least. The Revolver, SMG and precision rifles are more than overdoing it, and the LMG just seems to be a redundant version of the Heavy Assault Rifle. Same with the AKM being a redundant version of the regular Assault Rifle.

I think if someone _had_ to include a butt-ton of weapons, they should also include a limit of how many weapons could be held per slot at any one time, so that the player wouldn't be overwhelmed scrolling through them all to find the one they need for any given situation. And if a slot is full and they see something better on the ground, well now there's incentive to bind the Drop Weapon key.

That Heavy Assault Rifle looks incredibly satisfying to use

Insanity nightmare is a weapons mode that i use when i am looking for a challenging map set but also tired of using vanilla brutal doom only

Good lord...that "Light Machine Gun" is huge!
The gun muzzle flash are insane
The Deagle is both a missed opportunity and a realism mistake (the latter applies to the AKM): the slide doesn't lock on empty mag, which coulda been used to demo a very nice slide close sound, and obviously the gun wouldn't work with an empty chamber.
Other than that, I need to give it a try since it's explicitly made for Zandronum, support for which is a prerequisite for me ...

God, the MP-40 sounds and feels and kills like it was loaded with fucking .50 AE.

I often feel like almost all brutal doom mods and even the original brutal doom add too much stuff without ever considering visual clarity, balance between weapon of similar roles and enemy dynamics. Enemies either feel too weak or are way too dangerous to deal with unless sniped (which is boring). I could never pinpoint what issues I had with BD before, I think I now understand that I seem to get fatigued by the insane light show, blood showers during intense combat, the lack of dynamic enemy combat (it either stands there and gets hosed down or is the one hosing you down with intense fire.) Nice showcase BTW.
Ps, this is probably why I prefer brutal doom deathmatch way more, actually having fewer targets and less random shit flying from all over the place.
Have a look into LITDoom, Doom 3 meets Tarkov.
I think you may like Brutal Pack v10, it addresses all the issues you mentioned about weapon balance, orthogonal enemy design and not excessive muzzles and other shenaningans like imp fireballs dying and covering all your screen
@@carlospereyra9148 that is my favourite version of brutal doom, you are definitely right about that one.
Though I am not a huge fan of the free grenades and flamethrower added in v10 or the removal of full auto for the shotgun. It works in eternal because they serve as a falter fiction and recovery function respectively. Regarding the standard shotgun, while I feel a lower damage but higher stunlocking potential and ease of switching between smaller targets like imps or zombiemen would be the ideal way to better define its fuction in contrast to the higher per shot damage and ammo efficiency of the super shotgun that is better suited to cacodemons, hellknights and revenants. The burst assult rifle could have worked but I still find it a bit too ineffective at the moment. OG doom is built around efficiency with ammo usage to a degree so the increased ammo expenditure could be a notable downside.
@@Shrikster the sprites for the guns it uses range from oddly positioned but still beautiful to down right gorgeous, I like it quite a bit but if you really want a survival horror hardcore experience I would suggest hideous destructor and/or shut up and bleed v4 if your into that.

Regarding the issues with the shotgun, we are discussing how to differentiate the ssg and shotgun, but the main reason why I wanted the auto mode deleted is because it let the Minigun irrelevant because it's the main weapon to stunlock, also it's really hard to balance, before it existed but with damage so low that it felt really weak so everyone used the normal mode, but if the damage was considerable the normal mode won't be used anymore, it would be no reason to switch between modes
Regarding the launchers, we are still balancing them, grenades don't explode on impact and recharge time was increased, but we are open to well thought suggestions and feedback in the discord server

That silenced Beretta's firing sound would fit better with a more sci-fi weapon. It's too good for that gun
That incendiary SMG seems a bit unwise, don't want to burn yourself in the closed spaces you use it in.

You haven't kept any eye on new mods, then, and I don't mean just new maps or campaigns.
You do have a point there. Dunno if BD20 has an option for changing the gore, but I do know there's one for the blood.

The shellcasing error? If so then yes me too. I wish I knew how to fix it :'( I'm running it standalone like it says but i'm still getting the errors.

This mod is 90% perfect, not 100% because of the missing Mancubus Flame Cannon.

Vanilla bfg tracing attack reward player for standing close to enemies. Later bfgs often give it a large AoE only.

I appreciate the effort, but some weapons just don't belong there. Revolver and DE are clearly for show-offs. Other real-life and historical weapons don't fit Doomguy either.
