I am so excited that you are moving to China. I was doing well in the UK but now that I live in China and I find it so hard to reduce waste. It will be really interesting to see what tips and tricks you find that I might be able to use! Keep up the amazing work and content :)
Tirion Cowell I can totally relate to that. I was pretty new to the zero waste movement before I moved to China but I was trying and doing well and now that I am in China I feel like I'm at square one and it's really difficult. I'm also looking forward for her tips and tricks. 😊
jessica t. It's such a shame... I even find something as simple as reusable water bottles tricky as sometimes I can't find a reliable source to refill. I am doing my best but it is seriously hard work!! I'll let you know if I find anything handy. Where abouts are you based?
That's so true. Living in China definitely requires a lot more work and planning ahead and even then sometimes you can't avoid the plastic that is everywhere. I have to admit though that in my case a lot of it is my fault too. Back in Austria it was much easier for me to avoid plastic and try to live more zero waste, here it takes more effort and for the longest time I fell of the wagon and I'm just trying to get back on it now. Shame on me I know. Thank you I'll let you know if I find something too. I live in Beijing and you?
jessica t. It's definitely a journey though. I find that the more I try to reduce the more I find that I should be reducing. I try to remember that every tiny bit still helps. I'm in Guangzhou, I've only been here for 3 months and there's a lot to get used to!
Tirion Cowell That's a good way of thinking. 3 months is not that long, I mean you need to get used to China as well, so I'm sure it will be easier for you the longer you stay. How do you like Guangzhou?
Good luck with finding somewhere in London, but I hope you know that rents there are horrendously expensive! between £1200 to £2000 for a one bed in the city centre and £900 to £1500 outside the centre. Unless you can afford that you'll be looking at sharing with several others and some are even sharing rooms with bunk beds in them. Personally I think London is way overpriced in general and now nothing but a neoliberal playground only for the rich, but it's your choice of course. Good luck in China too :)
