Taraji P Henderson deserve an Oscar nomination for her role in this film! Best Actress, hands down... I Love her dearly. Her beauty, sophistication & versatility never seems to amaze me! It's about time she get acknowledged for it.
Lyriq Bent, character had so many layers to him. You either loved him, hated him, admired him or took him to a be weak man but to me, Bent stayed true to the innocence of his character. I bet it was hard to do playing a role like that. Best Supporting Actor.
And Tyler Perry, Best Film Maker/Best Writer. The story was put together very well. We, the audience got a chance to listen to Taraji's character telling her story but we were able to watching the movie through Lyriq Bent's character's eyes! I was glued to the screen from start to finish. Outstanding!

Tyler Perry really impressed me with this one. I think he does great with his more serious movies. It was so exciting to watch as a Black therapist because it also created a dialogue in some circles about mental illness in the Black community. Bravo Tyler!
The movie shook me to my core. I honestly felt so sad after the movie. I was sad tired and grateful. Best Tyler perry movie ever and to think it was all done in 8days...8 days for this beautiful twisted movie.

Dainty Ann I was sad because I was infuriated by her husband but it the end I just wanted her to let go. I totally understand how hard it was for her and to some degree she was justified in her anger and regret but I couldn’t fault him any more. It was just sad because it’s something that happens in real life😔
Yea. I was quite depressed. I think more so because of the outside influences on the relationship which we see females do everyday. It was all too real to know that we know females like this. And in the long run they are mentally ill or damaged from a life of bitterness. And when they look up, they realize that everyone had a part in their bad decisions so it becomes everyone elses fault. Then you start to act out listening to your own self not trusting others. My gosh she went through some really rough things on her journey with him and by the time it was all said and done, you could actually see the effects that everyone had on her. By the time it hit a head, she couldn't make up her mind due to all the damage that had been done. All those people and opinions, and ideas....she kept coming up one second short because of all that misguidance. It was literally like " A raisin in the sun" gone completely bad. The baby issue was enough to craze any woman out. But the money, the house, the broken promises, that stagnant life, the infidelity, the divorce....smh. Then a woman gets everything that was taken away from her. Wow, how can any woman not feel for her? Just for her to take revenge/anger to another level. It was a broken story from start to finish

I saw "Acrimony" and it was awesome! I saw sooo much more than a story about an angry black woman! As a matter of fact I saw a story about mental illness...patience. .....love...trust and knowing your self worth!
I'd LOVE to be on your international team! Most of the world has such a poor depiction and mindset about black people (women) and us as a people in general. This needs to change and glad to hear that headway is being made! Thank you for a GREAT interview!

A women who gives herself up to a guy the same day of her parent's funeral if so stupid. She married him after he cheated on her. She bought him a new car for no reason. She let him for years make some battery without holding a job or being supporting. Then not only does she get the money that she asked for with the divorce but gets 10 times the amount and her mom's house back and still that's not good enough for her. You still think that the character is a good representation of black women?

Had to support your work (Tyler Perry and Taraji)....I loved the movie "Acrimony". It was so real as to how women can feel after being hurt and disappointed. I hope women and men watch this movie and learn how to communicate with one another, stop holding your feelings inside all the time and talk it out...or learn how to cover your tracks better...lol
I saw Acrimony today.....I was shocked at the departure of Tyler Perry on this film....still enjoyed everyone s. Performance in the movie! I believe Taraji has played another Oscar worthy character in this film.

I absolutely enjoyed Acrimony. Tyler - I thought you did an amazing job here. Love you so much. Taraji - I really enjoyed your interpretation of Melinda. And Lyriq - you really captured the heart of your character and managed to draw the audience in so beautifully. I absolutely loved you guys.

I on the other hand became on Robert’s side. He was a dreamer, a broke one, but Melinda knew he was broke from day 1. She believed in him more than she believed in herself. She dropped out of college, because frankly she wasn’t smart enough. She kept the same boring desk job for years that her friend helped her get. She saw her life through her husband’s eyes. She got upset because his hopes and promises didn’t come through soon enough for her to shine. She chose to tell a college boyfriend about the money her pate ya left her. She chose to marry a broke man. She chose to divorce him. She choose to attempt to murder him. Smh!

Though the movie ending was so sad, I like the moral of the ending. Resentment and being unforgiving will only hold you back and kill you. Melinda had a lot of deep rooted issues ( that were present before she got with him, remember how she hit and verbally abused him when he bumped into her back in college?) and she was very insecure. She made a man her world, did not draw boundaries or assert her needs, was extra needy, and did not love herself. Robert was a little lazy and inconsiderate at first AND took advantage of her generosity (for example, when he asked her to mortgage the house to further support his dream) BUT she didn't draw boundaries and over gave. He actually meant well and was not a bad man. He tried to lead and take care of her from the very beginning (watch carefully) but she didn't even really care for herself and insisted through her actions and words on taking care of him--again watch the movie carefully. AND she wasn't open to receiving high value treatment she even dissed Devin and belittled him. But still that ending, the fact that the character never evolved and healed was sad but I hope this movie influenced all the "Melindas" of this world to wake up and love themselves.

This movie spoke depths of the feelings that people have when they feel under appreciated. Under love. When you see the person you gave your all to, gives the rewards the next person with all the things we feel like we deserve.
Update so dang I only sided with Melinda, I did not ever stop to think about how Bennett felt in the relationship. Never once considered that he felt like less of man because he couldn't provided for his wife, but he wanted to follow his dreams. That he loved the hell out her and he wanted to give her everything she wanted but he just needed her to hold on a littler longer. So he could make up for the 18 years. But she let go, so he felt like 10 mil would suffice for all the "wasted" time. Shoot this was a good movie.

Crazy how 5 months ago here in bklyn me and my home girls were riding the 4 train late Saturday night in Brooklyn coming from a lounge and saw Lyric Bent on the train with a body guard and a woman with dark glasses on.He was sitting across from us and we were high and tipsy.lol he kept laughing at us and told the guard to not make it obvious that he's an actor.it took until he got off at Atlantic and Barclays for me to realize that's the guy from Acrimony. Much blessings and success to all of them. Black movies and black actors are seen everywhere. They just want us to believe that. Not true. I was born in London and raised in Trinidad & Tobago. I saw movies that was made in America and from other countries.

I love Taraji & Tyler. Both are legends. I hated Lyriq's character in the movie and that just goes to show how much of a good job he did as a leading role. He was very believable. I never actually knew about the film until yesterday lol and I just wanna say it was fantastic. Tyler Perry never fails to give you pure gold when it comes to movies. Is there a second one yet?
