It would have been far more helpful to show typical two-year-olds demonstrating age appropriate language
100% I don’t understand how this can not have examples
That is literally what I'm searching for!!!! lol 🤔😫🤣
My daughter is turning 2 in 3 days 🥰🥰🥰 Thank God my daughter is fast learner, she can speak 3 languages now, know the names of all animals, sings abc's even at 1 year old 😱 know how to count long time ago, can speak short sentences, and sure she understand things i say or ask, know how to read some letters already, know how to color, dancing and singing a lot 😂😅❤ but dont like to eat alone else she will finish to eat after 3 hours 😂 dont be pressured so much mommies... every kid is different and special in their own ways :)
You have to restrict TV and tablets and phones to toddlers...there vocabulary will explode when they only watch one hour max tv per day! And you have to read to them everyday!
Thanks for this video. Proves I'm over worrying. My daughter is right on track. I was scared because she didn't hit other milestones on time
At a year and a half my daughter was fairly silent. I was a touch worried, fast forward two more months (20 months) she started stringing together "it's cold outside dada" "Dada when is momma back?" I was shocked.
Hoping that will be for my twin boy's. Not saying anything, not even No or Yes! Very worried really.. however they do interact and do other things but I'm still quite apprehensive
How are they doing now?
@@georginadeleyser9164 she is almost 4 and I have full conversations with her now.
I had full conversations before 2 yrs old
The milestones were always so dumbdowned and now more so.
My daughter behaved exactly the same way :)))
My 21 month old has shown flashes of brilliance. Wakes up one morning saying a word crystal clear like shoes one day, and then bread the next day, and then never says it again lol. Said “train tracks” but didn’t really say it perfect missing T , F, v W right now
My daughter would wake up and the first thing she would say was a word like “sock” but it would make my day 🤩
Same experience
shoes loool my daughter gets her shoes and says shoes im like no hun we not going out yet
Best time to teach words is wake up time and night time reading mode
my 19 months starts singing star spangled banner 😂
Mine said What just Happened!? With a perplexed look on his face and holding up one hand.
I busted up laughing so he kept saying it.
My son has klinefelter’s syndrome which can cause speech delays. However he seems very ahead at 19 months, he knows hundreds (and I mean hundreds) of words. He can name over 50 foods for example. He is speaking in long sentences like “Phoebe is under the table, she wants my baby biscuits”. We read and speak to him constantly, books are his favourite thing. He also sings whole songs, e.g. “it’s raining it’s pouring the old man is snoring” when it’s raining. He does not understand “me” or “I” yet though and refers to himself in third person.
Good advice 👍
If a child has sign language it is higher in comprehension and speaking fuller sentences. Me n my family spoke ask words at 6 months old. Also at 2 they are speaking sentences and comprehension is 12 % higher in hearing children raised by deaf parents. And spelling is excellent when they come to school age
I should have thought of that
My 22 month old is still whining a lot and not wanting to talk or repeat
Same
Are you using the tablet as their education?
50 words? My son is perfectly normal and he does not say 50. Maybe 10. But he understands everything I say so I am not concerned at all.
Boys sometimes take time to learn how to speak. When my younger brother was little, it took him a little more time than my younger sister/his twin sister even though they were both taught at the same time. It’s pretty common and perfectly fine. Kids learn at different paces.
Im shocked! Our neighbors kid is 2 and he speaks in full sentences.... I thought thats normal before I saw a lot of videos in UA-cam about the development from two year olds. Greetings from Germany.
@@bogatyr4207 i think that is more unusual than usual... Here in sweden where i Live is the demands are that a 3 year old should be able to speak sorter sentenser with 3 to 6 words and when 2 understands sorter conversations and many kids can say the question "what is that?" tjat is usual for a 2 year old it says on our swedish healthcaresite. And all of my friends childrens in the same age dont speak more than my son.
Same here with my boy he’s 27 months old and boys when coming to speech they’re slow my speech and therapy doc told me that so there’s definitely none to worry about. 😊😊😊😊
Never compare your child to someone else. That's a slippery slope.
Thanks for this I was worried
So true
My little boy just turned 2 like a week ago what should he be saying because he understands a lot but doesn’t say too much. He can do what u ask and all that but I don’t think he knows 50 words to say but he understands almost everything lol so he just turned 2 what should he say
Good therapist
What about repeating words? If I ask my two year old toddler "Do you want milk or water?" She says, "Do you want milk?" She copies what I say often. Does that count towards words she knows? She will repeat, "Puppy, Come outside with us!" when she wants the dog to come outside to play BUT she has heard me say that.
Sounds like ecolelia. My daughter did that too.
My 25 month old son doesn't speak. He babbles a lot like A LOT. He understands many many things, even things I dont think he can. He says daddy, cat, crow, nana, he goes 'bbrrr' for water, he signs hungry by doing the italian gesture for delicious 😄 he started to copy a lot of words we say but he doesnt mean them and they are usually short words. He sometimes goes 'daddy bbrrr' which means he wants water from his dad. He shakes his head for No but he usually cries for No 🥲 He does a lot of impressions, animal voices and gestures. I see signs that he is capable of speaking but I am also extremely concerned that he will be delayed. He is a pandemic baby and I try to talk to him and read to him but I think it is better for him to be around other toddlers more. I let him watch tv and then I feel guilty bc I think cartoons may affect his speech. And the next day I feel like I have no choice to let him watch some cartoons bc he is bored, he wants it and I need to get some things done in the house or else I will go crazy. Also my mother takes care of him for five hours in a day, two days a week. She is old and tired so she usually makes him watch more cartoons. I dont blame her, she does the best she can. She feeds him, bathes him, she makes sure that his diaper is clean, that he is happy. She doesnt take her eyes off of him for a second. Anybody who has gone through what I am going through, do you have any advice or is it just going to be okay?
I’m going thought it with my Covid baby, but not too worried. All those animals sounds count as words and as long as they are trying to communicate its fine. She is my third though so maybe that’s why I’m not so concerned. My first two were very different from each other and are fine now. In the US you can get an early intervention evaluation if you are not sure.
I have a 22 month old that is blabbers and says momma, babba, makes animal sounds , and says huh in the rhythm of words and sentences for ex, if i say thank you hell say "huh huh" and stuff like ahhh when its time to eat, mimics snoring etc. Reciting the Shakespeare or the encyclopedia? no. no and no sentences. I personally am not frustrated by this but the thing thay frustrates me is people comparing their not quite 1 year olds speech to my 22 months old... I also dont like when the doctors push speech therapy. I feel like there nothing that can be done in speech therapy that I can't do at home. My son is very smart, he plays soccer with his dad, understands the simple concepts of things, can mimic sounds, etc. I dont believe theres anything wrong my guy. I know this is nerve wracking but from one mom to another. Hang in there. when he's ready he'll let me know.
I can relate. We're on d same path..pandemic baby too.. same guilt as yours. I hope our babies are fine
I have a 2 year old and I am having the same issue. He understands everything but the Speach is just not there. Few words here and there but that is it. His pediatrician told me there is a lot of kids going through delayed Speach especially the boys :/ you can do Speach therapy , I heard it really helps and also Ms Rachel. My baby learned some words and sign language for

My son just turned 2 a week and a half ago and I visited the doc for his 2 years check up. The doc told me he should be far advance with his talking and referred him to a speech therapist.. I didn’t think he was behind because he understands command very well.. he will say a few words here and there.. he knows what you are talking about when u ask him to pass u certain things such as the remote .. pampers .. I even asked him the other day where is your tea and he bent down and showed me the bottle under the dresser.. I think the doc is frightened me for no reason..
That audio tho lmao
My nephew is 23 months and he didn't say a peep. Never heard him say mama, Dada, or anything. Occasional bake or grunt but during interactions he usually just stares at you and smiles. His hearing is checked and its normal. He makes eye contact, smiles, plays, runs around. Just doesn't talk. I wonder if he is a late boomer with talking or may have a more serious issue at this point.
My son is the exact same way..any updates?
Same with my nephew (also 23 months). He does say one word which is car and he loves playing with cars. So I'm guessing it's nothing wrong he is just late bloomer. He is also utterly spoiled so I'm thinking that's probably a huge, huge reason why he isn't saying so much more because they just hover over him at every single thing he does.
I actually think it's the helicopter parenting that does it. There is no point in learning the words because they essentially aren't forced to.
Don't worry about it too much untill they are 3.5y old. I always say to the parents that Einstein didn't know a word untill he was 4 years old.
Daddy gone 😂
Hi, my son is about to turn 2 next week. The only words I have heard him says is “mama”, “papa”, and “arrow”. Other than that he’s usually quiet. He communicates very well what he wants by giving me the control when he wants me to change a UA-cam video or he starts jumping up and down when he wants food. However, he’s not speaking much. His father is very reserved and quiet and he gets that from him. Should I be worried about his speech or just wait a little longer?
I highly recommend reading the book, "30 Million Words". Apply what they illustrate in it as soon as possible! Have them evaluated by a speech therapist to evaulate child.
The key is giving much more interaction and speaking to your child in certain ways to build brain development.
Try ready books. It helps to see the words sometimes. Point to each word & say it slowly.
Hi Jasmin, I know your comments was a whole ago but I would like to ask did your son start talking yet.
My son is 23 months old, very quiet and understands a lot but not talking yet
@@BintuMohamed1 HI! No he hasn’t. He is starting Early Intervention in a few days
i started to worries but after watching this u put my mind at rest she doesn't say 50 words but she does say enough and she does understand if i say stuff like get my baby wipes or get juice thanks for this video her speech is not clear but shes only turned 2 so
That’s how my son is now - how is her speech now ???
Bro all thesw kids learning to talk 1 one but end up at the same jobs as the ones who learned how to talk at 2 1/2😂
So my son is 2 yrs and 9 months and only knows his abc and numbers 1-10 and says yes and no but other than that he babbles on and I see he gets frustrated sometimes when he can tell me what’s wrong.. he doesn’t listen when I tell him no or go get your sippy cup or something simple.. but he brings me stuff if he’s hungry or thirsty… watching this makes me feel a type of way..😩
my wife sits our child in front of the TV a lot and I feel this is hindering my daughter from speaking... she's almost 2 and no words yet, not even a firm "mom" or "dad" but she does do "mamamamaamamama" and sometimes "dadadadadadadada" but not MOM or DAD. Is the TV hurting her language development?
Yes, screen time definitely harms their speech development. I've gone through this with my 2 year old nearly 3 and I'm now doing the hard work of undoing it. He was never in front of a screen for too long maybe 2 days a week but for 3-4 hours at a time. It's at this stage their brains are growing and the good speech comes conversation from adults and us reading to them. The tv will only make them repeat what they hear.
Please answer me if your daughter talking good now ,
It depends on what she's watching. We live in a Spanish speaking language but my son gets a lot of English from what he watches. He knows his animals and colors in English. Ofcourse t.v in excess is not good but also try educational cartoons
@@denisedebrito7206 yes my son learned all his words from the videos but it's been hard to get him to use sentences instead of repeating us or the phrases he's watched.
Read read read. Point to each word sounding it out. Read books two hundred times. So much that you know them by heart.
Candy toys and money are the three most important words to teach a two year old.
My 21 month old says muma dada nana that is it worried now
Thies things make me sad, my to todlers are atistic, this is describing my 3.5 yearold
Good night my son is 2.3 and only say mama an dada. he knows how to find is cartoons on his tablet,he knows how to unlock it as well.Any thing i send him for he goes for it. but not talking 🇯🇲🇯🇲
My son is 2 and he told me a few days ago
"sit down dad mom's not ready yet"
He also knows probably 6 songs and can count to 10 on his fingers and out loud.
I'm wondering if it's normal or if he could possibly be advanced?
Mine is 2 and is the same!
oh dear. Such an interesting topic, but that background music is anxiety-producing. Most people prefer NO music when the topic is interesting
YES!!!!!!
My two year old says dinosaur
Yeah 😃 that's easy
Hello, my daughter is 2 years 9 months old and im having difficulty asking her questions that is answerable by Yes or No. But she knows a lot of things like 8 planets, alphabet, shapes, colors, month of the year, days of the week and at least 21 flags she can recognize. My worry is that whenever i ask her “do you like banana or cheerios” or do you want to eat? Or do you want more milk? She would answer “milk” instead of a Yes.. can you help me? Thank you
Have you received any response to this question? I am here now with my daughter.
sounds like echolalia
Mine is two and a half. Doesn't say 'no', 'mine', or even call me by 'mom'. She is a second child and my first child is VERY over bearing. If I show any kind of affection or attention to her sister, she immediately butts in and wants attention too. Please help. She's behind on speech because of it and I'm so worried about her. Its not autism because she's very social and keeps eye contact. She's just behind on her speech.
Make the older sister help with the little one. Let the older one choose which story book to read. Let her show her baby sister her toys and she can tell her their names. Emotions help alot and you can also verbally congratulate your older girl for helping.
Hope I was able to help a little my dear
Early Intervention
Same for my son hes 2 1/2 aswell hes social and what not but delayed in speech, at random times he’ll say a word perfectly but then wont say it again, he speaks gibberish still he is going to 3 different therapys at the momment.
My child was speaking full sentences at two and so was I.
I feel like that intro is a bit goofy 🤣
My daughter will be 2 in 2 months, and she was a premie by a month. She’s saying a lot of words, but her sentences aren’t clear enough to understand. I think she’ll take a little longer to get to some milestones with full sentences, but she’s also saying more than 50 words and clapping on beat. She’s super defiant so teaching her words has been very difficult.
I said all that to say: If your kid isn’t hitting these milestones right at 2, give it some time. They’ll get there. Just work with them and keep talking to them like they understand you. I taught preschoolers who could barely say sentences, and they are now full functioning elementary kids. No speech issues or anything.
Time is your best friend. Patience is your sibling.
You got this, and they’ve got this.
My 24mo knows more than 100 words and can formulate 7 to 8 word sentences.
What should be done when baby understands what you are saying but won't obey you?
My son says no all the time an mine lol he has had ear infections I never camparé my child to anyone’s every child learns different
Is calling animals name part of the 50 words?
Yes. 😊
My son doesn’t talk or put words together he constant says the e sound e like wheee but no wh…any suggestions or anything anyone?
My son is two and does this too he knows how to say some words but he still doesn’t put together a sentence
Australias gotta come uo with something to replace no in their country. None of you pronounce it in any sort of way thats acceptable.
Did she said wat I think she said on minute 2:10 n foward lol
Lol the monkey comment???????? I was waiting on someone to point it out .. racist much .. he said that because that is what he is being taught
So weirded out by the intro i need to leave. 👋🏼
Don't agree, my munchkin speaks about 20 words and perfectly ok.
At 2 child child not saying 50 words many hi bye no mamma daddy not 50 words
Hi
Hi
2:10 I’m sorry, did she say her child called a man a monkey???? Ummmm what
The lady in blue wanted to hide so much 😬😬😬
She did say that but the lady in the blue tried to brush over that. We already know what happened and who her child was calling a monkey
Grow up ffs
