    Does the strut spacer you have measure 2”? Because I ordered the 3” but measured the strut spacer and it’s 2” and was told by supreme suspension that the geometry of the strut will give it the 3” lift even though the strut spacer is measuring 2”

    • @dirtybauer7022
      @dirtybauer7022  4 роки тому +5

      yes its fine, on these explorers the rear spacer will be an inch shorter than your desired travel BUT it will give you what you want. my front spacers are 2 inches measurable and the rears are 1 inch. giving me 2 inches all the way around. i know it sounds weird but even the rear spacers are made different than the fronts.

    Hey, over this past weekend I did the same exact thing you did. I have an 07 ford explorer Eddie bauer and I was wondering if you had any problems with getting an alignment done? For some reason it's not possible now.
    Also can you give me a link on where you got your upper control arms?

      I bet they cant align it look at how terrible that ball joint is on that upper control arm.

      @@tylermurphy9020 uh to align the camber of the UCAs you would undo the bolts at the top and move them forward or backward with the tolerance you have. its super simple and takes no time.

      yes you can align your front with the factory uca. sounds like the tech didnt want to do it. i go to firestone or mccauils tire. for the arms i went to BTF and messaged the guy about them.

    Will you be getting a suspension lift and if so what kind. Ive been looking at body lifts but cant find any suspensions

    • @dirtybauer7022
      @dirtybauer7022  6 років тому +1

      Anthony im learning as i go with this. Im also fixing to upload a new video of the lift and what ive done. Ive been seeing the skyjacker kit but dont know what gain it gives. If you do strut spacers or lift springs youre gonna need the BTF arms. It just assures you dont strip a upper ball joint on the trail. Ive got square tubing cut down into 2 inch sections for my body lift. I dont really trust the weight to a couple washers nuts and bolts. Im just going to use the tubing for extra brace, like the sleeve on your sway bar link. But right now im looking and learning what struts to get and what brand gives you what gain. So stay tuned and share info when you can. These explorers arent really meant to do what were doing so all info we can provide eachother gives us the best turnout.

    • @dirtybauer7022

      ok so from my research rancho makes the quick lifts which are 2.5 inches tallerthan factory. so those will probably be my next big purchase.

    I have same color 07 Eddie Bauer, My Fishing Fun Wagon! I had to fix the passenger side exhaust manifold 2rear studs broke off in the engine block hence loud tapping noise on start up went away once warm . An expert weekend job , took me all summer , use titanium milling bits after breaking off drill bits and extractors .... once I fixed her, she was like brand new but I found a hole in the muffler puff puff puff puff putt. So I ordered the cat back Magnaflow exhaust !! Paying that off at 70$ via affirm.... now I need the silver/chrome bull bar and a lift job , that why I’m here ... thanks for the information!! Saving up to do this now !!!
    Got a persistent misfire in cylinder 3 , fouls that plug bout every three weeks , gonna replace my fuel filter and fuel injectors next , $250 parts ... it all adds up but my Father InLaw gave me this truck, riding around with a bad ass ride w/somewhat American Luxury , lol
    👍🏻👊🏻🤓🗽🦅🇺🇸 WWG1WGA!!! The Best is Yet To Come, GOD Wins!!
    Oh yeah , I will never forget the smile on my Grandsons Face when we first turned the key after putting on the Magnaflow!!! Made her sound like a race car when on it, yet quietly refined when at idle or creeping... lol and the power !!! Wowsers!!! Last upgrade for me will be the blower to get us in the 500-800 HP range , what a bugout vehicle we’ll have then !!!!

      I would NOT blow this little 4.0. most I would do is put a small turbo on it but the motor isnt that great. I honestly wouldn't even lift it unless you're doing a body lift. After these spacers you're gonna have to hit up BTF for custom UCAs and that's 700 then you're going to be eating up sway bar links left and right so you remove the sway bars. Well now you're going to be eating up your hub bearings since the weather of the vehicle is too much for the cylinder rollers so then every 3 months you're changing out hubs. Leave it alone is my best suggestion.

      @@dirtybauer7022 appreciate the advice , I have the 4.6v8 3V w/6speed trans . I could live with just replacing the shocks and struts ... there’s a UA-camr out there that used to use a roush mustang blower with modifications , but he has evolved to some more modern equipment as they have. Even discontinued in some cases . I’d have to hit the lotto for that though as I’d want to replace most components with ARP. Again thanks for your wisdom , the Parts from BTF /Cost gives me second thoughts , I’ll look at the body lift options ... I’m a steamfitter, somewhat mechanically inclined ...

The kit has been great don't get me wrong, it's just if you're gonna do this might just throw some rims on it fix it real good throw some sound in it and sell it then get a Cherokee. Lift kit and repairs alone I could have gotten a good Cherokee and lift and still had a little money left for gas.

    Could you this do with 33s on the 3" lift? Too much?

    • @dirtybauer7022
      @dirtybauer7022  4 роки тому +1

      yeas i have 33s on here now with just the 2 inch lift. if you go over 2 inches youre going to need the steering rack extension sold with the body lifts. im fixing to do another video on not to do this to your explorer, it looks cool as hell but it eats the hubs and sway bar linkages. plus lifting it will make the UCA crash against the coil of your shock. btf makes UCAs but theyre 650 dollars. my advice just buy a chevy k1500 or a f150 and lift that.

      anytime you take apart the front end its a good idea to get an alignment. thats basically what i wanted to do, run 33sand look good while doing it. since i did lift it 2 inches i had to get the BTF arms so the UCA wasnt crashing against the coil on the shock tower potentially sheering the bolt for the ball joint.

      it should, however the upper control arm will crash against the shock tower eventually sheering the ball joint. so if you do this you need to contact brian at btf and get some upper control arms fabbed. i went 3/8 inch. these trucks werent designed to lift so that has to kept in mind while doing this.
