Nice job great video I have a 1964 550 myself runs like a top total rebuild when I bought it rebuilt carb too 34 years ago
great work on the carb
Great job as always
Thanks for video my uncle's got our original Oliver 55 it's still on the farm my dad used to plow with it my Grandpa used to Farmall m I'm hoping to get it from him that way I'll have the original both tractors on the farm
That’s awesome to have them still in the family!
You need a magnetic tray to keep up with those metal parts.
I use those sometimes but unfortunately a lot of carburetor parts are brass so the magnetic part wouldn’t be that much help :(
👍👍
Thanks for Watching Tom!
You got both carburetors cleaned, rebuilt and the engine running smoothly without spending any money. That is pretty amazing. I asked once before about the intake manifold on the Hart Parr that you did a video about (I forgot what the numbers were). I would imagine it is hard to find parts for. Have you done any more work to it?
I haven’t had any time to mess with it. I really need to get back on that project.
Watching you and Chris brings back memories of watching my dad work on stuff. He was a mechanic for our local Ford/NH dealer back in the 60's. I learned enough from him to get by, but could never equal his ability. Been gone 10 years this month. Love your videos, (jokes are pretty good too)
Thanks!
Thanks! I worked on stuff for a guy one time who said his dad was the mechanic on the farm and he really wanted to learn but every time he tried to help his dad got annoyed and said just go away and let me do it. That’s sad because he never learned how to do anything.
I grew up on 800- pre 64 4000 Fords .Oliver 55-550's are like brothers from another mother.😁
Those Fords were worlds better than the 8Ns, but I still think the little Olivers were superior. They had live PTO and six speeds. They’re a hard little tractor to beat!
I've found most 4 cylinder gasser engines are cold blooded, and need at least 1/2 choke for cold starts.
It starts right up with just a little choke but it definitely has a warm-up period. I actually found I had a new choke cable on hand so I put it on today and it works great.
Where do you mainly order parts from I need a power steering pump rebuild kit for my 64 -550 ?
That was interesting, Ross. Enjoyed watching you do this. Next time I have carb troubles maybe I’ll try tackling it myself, before I turn it over to Joe. Now about that girlfriend you mentioned - I assume you got rid of her and kept the parrot.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
The parrot is fun to hang around with 🤣
@@rosstheoliverman LOL
Yep you did good ! Thanks for the “ carb “ series . The new kits got to much Chinesem lol
🤣 yes they do. Thanks for Watching!!!
When I was youngster on the farm carburetors were like little mysterious magic boxes.
There’s a lot of magic in there, probably some science to. But if you just follow the picture on the box you can usually get it to go again 🤣
Your little loader tractor reminds me of going with Grandpa to buy hay. The guy had a little Oliver diesel, he wouldn't load someone else truck so I got to ride on it with Grandpa.
That’s neat! I buy coal from a guy who uses a 2N Ford with a loader. It’s neat seeing those tractors doing what they were intended to.
Chuckle, after chuckle, after chuckle.
Thanks, I’m glad you enjoyed!!!
Murphy's Law, Article 2, subsection C: He who parts with a part, will need that part.
It’s still sad 😢 Murphy must have been a real “cock-a doodle doo!”
Lol
You always make the day not so bad . That someone else works on junk too lol . I just rebuilt a carb on neighbors 770 peach oh a tractor wide front fast hitch . This gas is crap . Made this comment on another post, his was filled with slime nasty stuff
Our fuel can definitely go bad in a hurry. That’s so sad. If you found an old car in a junkyard from the 60s I bet you could drain the gas out of it and it would be better than the modern stuff
that white tag on the air intake hose flipping around in the breeze from the fan would not last a split second, it bothered me in the earlier video too :)
I leave it there in case I die suddenly. Maybe it will bring more on my auction if people know it has a new Parts on it 🤣
We run 90 None ethanol gas in our collection old tractor ,help with Carburetors ,what cockshutt need anything,
I’ve tried that too but it really hurts the wallet. We used to get 90+ delivered to the farm but I don’t think they’ll even bring gas anymore.
Well Ross I thick your starting to rub off on me. I was working on my tractor last night trying to get a roll pin out, in tight quarts. When I said "awh come on play nice" I finally got it.
I’m giving away all the tricks🤣
