Finally a video about pediatric hearing aids! Please keep them coming. I just got the Sky Lumity UP-90 for my 6 year old today. We're so excited about Bluetooth connectivity.
What a fantastic video. I had to watch this one twice to confirm that I understood what features were available on the Sky Lumity. Although I don’t fit into fitting categories for the Sky Lumity, I could see benefit for fitting geriatric patients as well with this model due to the automatic design of program changes , tamperproof features , visibility of bright colors and the remote care option. I could see some of these features as beneficial to reduce cognitive decline in patients already experiencing dementia. Geriatric patients have similar issues with pediatric patients. Fitting geriatric patients seems like a no brainer quality of life issue. And although i love my Phonak Audeo Lumity L50 selected by my audiologist Scot Frink, i am a little disappointed with the variety of Phonak color options unlike Resound and Widex. I do like bright colors and across the board, color selection for adults is truly lacking. I suppose this may change as more Gen X adopt hearing aid use by the time i want to upgrade my devices.

I had no luck with the lumity device as a musician, I use widex but phonak is still a great manufacturer overall, although the analog ones from phonak used to be good back in the day,.. The lyric is a wonderful device too,.. although unfortunately I wasn’t a candidate,.. I feel like the devices now a days should keep at the technology alongside reverting to analog technology, although I guess thats the same as changing the compression to linear, although sometimes that might not always be ideal depending on the hearing loss im guessing, i think bluetooth and apps, and being able to switch settings via the app is so good,.. I also wish that there were non surgical out of the ear devices that could be used for people who aren’t a candidate for inplants or surgery or BAHAS,.. it would be so nice if that existed for bilateral ssnhl that isn’t as severe,.. although I am excited to see whats in store for my future patients by the time I enter the field of audiology hopefully within the next few years
