HOW TO BUILD A DOG RAMP
Вставка
- Опубліковано 4 чер 2017
- In this video, we build a dog ramp for Hannah. She's been having some difficulty getting up and down the deck steps and we thought this might make it easier for her.
Also, a big thank you to Riley and her parents for her help with the pan and dolly shots at Lowe's. She did a great job!

Very nice of you to do this for your dog.
Good job! I'll build one for our dog of 13 or 14 with arthritis, very similar to your ramp!!
I really enjoyed watching this video! Congrats to Hanna for her first trip up and down!
That was nice of you. Hannah seems like a sweet dog. Cool you got Riley's help.
Thank you for the comment and for watching!
sweet. I am doing the same for my old dog. She is over 60 lbs so I'm making it wider of course. I am using the same cookie incentive! Thank you for the video of your little gal.
Thanks so much for the comment. Cookies are always handy. I hope she navigates it without any trouble.
This is awesome! I'm going to use your method to make one. I have 2 dogs. One is 13 & the other is 14. Thank you for the great video!
Thank you. I was researching this for a friend. She has a 13 year old lab and I noticed her struggling as she goes down the back porch stairs and I think this will be so helpful. Ours will need to be wider of course , but this is a great idea. Thank you.
Thanks for the comment. I hope it helps.
Hello Hanna. Thanks to Fur Daddy and Fur Mummy for building the ramp for you. You will master the ramp in no time.👍👍👍👍
Nice job on the ramp Magnum!!
Thank you Keensnake!
I appreciate you taking the time to introduce Riley. I was wondering as I watched, who was controlling the camera! Also interesting that you took Hannah down the ramp first, rather than up. She is a very smart dog. We always had the agility dogs go up first because it seems easier for them. Hope it helps her a lot.
Thank you for watching. I hope it helps her.
Nice job, looks great
Thanks, Don. It wasn't that hard to do.
Great job!
we have a ramp for our hound but all the dogs use it and so do i . we had to replace the plywood after a few years with pressure treated but hey thats what we do for our friends thanks for sharing
Thank you for the comment, sir. I appreciate you watching it.
very cool video, my first time seeing something like this
Thanks for watching.
I'm glad Hannah loves it :) I am thinking of building a ramp for my dog after seeing how much they cost online..my bed is 28 inches high and I have a little 7 pound dog lol. I have never built anything before :( wish me luck!
Wishing you the best of luck.
Thank you, my 10 year old chubby dog is going to need this soon!
Thanks for watching. I'm getting close to needing one of these myself.
Good job
Thanks for making this. I love the simple (yet very effective) design. I'll be making a "Hannah ramp" for my dog Josie.
P.S. Nice video editing BTW
Thanks so much for watching. And thanks for the kind words. I hope the Josie Ramp comes out just like you want it.
Thank you so much. I was going to have to buy three different sizes for the couch, recliner, and bed. My Yorkie jumped out of my hands to chase the cat. He landed on his right shoulder and has pulled a muscle. He still jumps up, but won't get down. He will be nine years old in July.
I hope it's helpful for him.
Magnum I'm certain it will be.
The editing is so good he should go viral
Thanks so much for the kind words!
Nice work
Thank you sir!
I'm sure Hannah is going to love that ramp! After all it named after her and made in the USA! Great video Magnum! I see that you are recruiting those young cute interns! Great Job Riley!
Thanks, Rex. Riley did an outstandingly awesome job on the pan shot. It was buttery smooth and she following my stage direction perfectly. Very impressive.
nice ! i need to build a ramp
This is awesome. I did exactly the same for my Jack Russell. He's 16 now and it's sad seeing him unable to jump up onto the bed so I built him a ramp to get in and out. The next project is to get him up and down the stairs? How old is Hannah?
She is 12. But she's had hip problems since the big doberman next door rolled her over last year.
Magnum aww bless. How is she Now?
She's doing fine now, but we're trying to keep a little bit of weight off of her. She got kind of chubby. LOL.
Hi Magnum-great video. question, how did you determine the agle that was going to be best for Hannah? Is there a formula you used or did you just wing it? thanks
Great question. I just kind of estimated what looked about right for her. Nothing scientific. Just a guess.
Way to go Hannah!
Just cruising youtube as I am going to be building my "Lily" ramp shortly. Lily is a 16yr 50pd pitbull (that has no idea she is) and can not walk on her hind legs without a strap beneath her belly for support. Where ever Lily goes wife or I must go with her. And where ever we go she must go with us (says Lily). It's no big deal we have been a team of 3 since we rescued her at 10days old after her mother and siblings died at birth. We have been carrying her up and down the stairs for over a year and wife and I are beginning to feel old as well. My ramp will have to be more substantial because of the combined weight of her+ 1. Not going to lie, sure would be nice for me as well at my age of 60. Hanah appears to be a sweet dog, The only comment I would have made is for it to be a full width ramp for the two of you as well. Thanks for the video.
Thanks for the comment. I hope you get Lily all ramped up. You should make a video of that.
I have the same problem with my aging dog, the big problem is that it weighs 80 lbs or so... so imagine. Thanks for your video. Very useful!
Thanks for watching. You might want to use some heavier materials. LOL. Good luck.
It is beautiful. The side panels are smart--my big husky/doberman is very smart and skittish. How did you attach the side panels? Thanks for the ideas!
I just used some wood screws. Pretty simple, really.
Magnum Thank you.
How would you keep the bottom of the ramp from kicking out?
Not sure I understand your question, but it's pretty heavy so it didn't move.
1. Pressure-treated on bottom, non on top?
2. Materials list?
3. Did you screw the 2x2 to the stair riser?
4. Indoor/Outdoor carpet at Loews as well?
Not screwed to stairs. Carpet from Lower. Pressure treated is not a factor. It was scrap lumber I already had.
I like your ramp a lot and your dog is adorable. This took so long to watch, it could’ve been cut easily in half without all the video of you driving and extraneous time videoed.
They probably could have cut a lot of footage out of Gone With the Wind, but it wouldn't have been the same movie afterwards.
How did you connect to top stairs
I didn't connect it. It's heavy enough that it just sits there without being connected.
I’m at Home Depot right now what do I need to get?
I usually would never give my number out but could you please text me 4072716002
The indoor/outdoor carpet doesn't get slippery when wet?
I'm not sure. She usually goes out in the front when it's raining. I'll have to check.
Magnum My girls are 100 and 75 pounds. I’ve been trying to figure what would work for them. If the carpet doesn’t get slick with rain that might answer. Thank you for your help.
I can't say whether it would offer them a good non-slip surface, but you can check at Lowe's or Home Depot. They have carpet that is a little more robust with a deeper texture. You could always get a piece of regular deep pile carpet, but it might rot away in a short time if it's not made for outdoor use. Good luck with it. Let me know how what you decide on and how it works for your girls.
Nice video...wat happened to your hand?
I got in a fight with a crabapple tree.
it sucks my dog is 14 he jumped up onto the couch a month ago and sprained/tore his acl. we took him to the vet and everything and while hes not in pain anymore he has a ridiculously big hitch/ limp in his back leg . so much so that he can get down the back stairs fine but his leg doesnt have the stability to get back up it doesnt help that my dogs overweight too (hes a medium sized dog he weighs 90 lbs) def need a ramp for him becuase me goin outside to literally pick him up and carry him up the stairs is getting old
What???? No seatbelt driving to Lowes??? Now back to video!!!!
Whats the name of the carpet that you used?
It's just a gray indoor/outdoor short pile carpet.
Magnum and it’s from lowes? And Thank you
It's tough getting old :-(
You got that right, Nick.
I need to make a Hannah ramp for my 4 pound yorkie. Lol
LOL. Good luck. You can probably cut back on the structural design a bit with a much smaller user.
Magnum I’ll be using your design, going to work tomorrow! Thank you my friend!
@@kevinandrew226 You're very welcome. Thanks for watching the video.
Could you not use some different product at the top so she's not slipping???
You can pick whatever you wish. The carpet seems to give her a good grip.
but she's sliding at the top???? This wouldn't be good for an area that gets snow?? My dog would be using it for a snowboard ramp..lol
I love how your car says "creating UA-cam stars" yet your channel only has 7k subs. Lol. I was expecting millions
I prefer creating a small number of BIG stars rather than a large number of LITTLE stars. LOL.
cuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuute
Just go to 6:00
Let me guess.....you made a nice ramp and I bet she struggles to run up the stairs! RIght??? AM I RIGHT LOL
Um... yeah. Pretty much covers it.
Would have been a great video if we'd actually seen you build the ramp. But you skipped this important part and instead made us watch you drive to and from Lowes. Nuts! Hanna was best part of video.
It's not that hard. Pretty simple construction. There's plenty of shots in there showing how it's built. Thanks for watching.
to be fair the title is : How to BUILD a dog ramp...but yeah thanks for the video...gonna forward it to my dad...we have an older shih tzu with a 3 step deck...thumbs up Edit: hehe the long traveling scene reminds me of the move Jackie Brown...tip: put requirements like 1/4 inch plywood whatever in the description
Kinda missing the HOW TO part.
Sorry, but this could have been much shorter. Did not need to watch you drive to Lowe's. You didn't show how to make the frame.
Thanks for the comment. Everyone makes videos in their own style. Sorry you didn't like it.
NOT IMPRESSED - ??? THE YOUNG GIRL @ THE END DIDN'T CONTRIBUTE ....
I APPRECIATED YOUR HELPFUL-GOOD ADVICE & THEN...👧.........
WHY????????
Sorry you didn't like it. Everyone has their own style of making videos. Everyone likes different things. If you have an older dog that needs a ramp, I'm sure there are other videos on here that might be more helpful for you. Good luck.
Are you kidding me? I have to watch you drive to Lowe’s to find out how to make a ramp?
It really does feel like a lot of filler footage to be co pletely honest.
Enjoy woodprix woodworking instructions.
How to build? Nope...
I checked a lot of handbooks with woodworking plans. Instructions from woodprix are the best I think.
