Seems like Filipinos was the one literally ended the war while other nations retreated and been abandoned and yet got the victory. I was speechless after the March of the Valiant (expedition to South Korea) documentary finished playing. I was teary eyed but overwhelmed with pride. If only my grandfather is still alive, he will take pride for the achievements.
Koreans doesn't need to bow down to filipinos. We just need to create a peaceful relationship. No wars... I hope that our relationship would continue to be strong. I am also thankful for koreans who help our economy.
Filipinos be modest and stay humble. Though Korea gained independence with the help of our soldiers who fought bravely and with honor...this must be a reminder that we must fight for what is right with conviction, to save a friend in trouble and to defend our own motherland too in an event of a war. Soldier and citizens alike must show our love for the Philippines. Korean economy rises from the ashes after that war. Yes, we help them in the past, but it is their character of resilience, of wanting to change their lives, of hoping to create a better future for their country that drives their economy. We Filipinos should learn from them too in improving our economy. Don't resent it, if some Koreans discriminates us, and don't bring up history just to inflate our ego. We Filipinos are hospitable and friendly by nature. Continue the legacy of our fallen soldiers to bring peace and friendship to South Koreans and to all nations across the globe.
I feel so bad for a new generation Koreans they don't know shit about this. They don't respect Filipinos they think they're better than Filipino. Guys you should make a video to educate them. You guys are awesome keep it up!:)
I’m Korean but that’s so true. I don’t hate Philippines and I actually want to visit there like Cebu. Not all of them are mean but tbh Koreans need to be more exposed to other races and cultures.
@@rebeccalee9700 I understood and I agreed with what you said. Racism in your country is rampant. I know that because I've been living here for 20 years now and I'm teaching at the private schools. I could observe that the schools didn't teach nor inform well the students especially in history subject. Regardless of being so mean to other races, they are lack of knowledge about the history. Young generation must be historically taught by the educators. Sometimes I just don't understand the education system because all they know is the result of the exam. They only focus on exam. In English subject also they were not given a chance to speak and spread their knowledge in English. Only listening and writing for the sake of the exam. And the result is they are mute when it comes to English conversation. I hope they can change this kind of system. Students are stressful from their studies.
델라라프레스 Ikr.. I went to Korea for 1 year when I was 8th grade and their studying system is just so stupid. I stayed at 학원(Academy in English I think) until 9 pm everyday. Studying more than 10 hours every day just to go to college but iconic part is it’s hard to find a job even you went to the good college. I really hope Korea’s studying system changes.
WOW!! thank you!! I didnt know about the past relationship of korea and the philippines. I was shocked tho. So sad that now SOME koreans degraded our country when they hear it.
some koreans look down to filipinos nowadays forgeting who help them during the korean war! take for example of that korean restaurant in manila area banning filipinos to dine!
In my humble opinion, I only have one word not only to Koreans but to those people who looked down on Filipinos... RESPECT! We have different mindset and different culture... No one has the right to judge.
Korean War: "Battle of Yultong" 7000 Communist Chinese killed and only 10 Filipinos died in that battle. Those Filipino soldiers were trapped... But those Filipinos held their position.
rickjamez13itch not 10 its 20+ casualties and 26 wounded I think and yep they hold they're post even though U.S and other countries retreat for getting reinforcements that's kinda cool and awesome :)
The US didn't retreat. The Turks (2800) and French (3500) retreated when they learned the size of the North Korean force advancing on them. They retreated before the fighting even started. The 1400 Filipino's held their ground. Losing 10 men to (later learned) 7000+ North Korean's. They held the ground until 8000+ Americans showed up to take over. The Filipino's didn't retreat as expected, but advanced with the Americans. Forcing the North Korean's to retreat. They kicked ass. With that in mind. Think how things would of been different in WWII if they had the weapons to fight the Japanese. All they had was what the Americans had there. Outdated WWI weapons and not any substantial amount of them either, same with ammunition. If they had the weapons back then. Japan would never have been able to occupy the Philippines.
my fellow pinoys bow your head down a bit, you cant go wrong by being humble . yes , we took part ofthe korean war, we help securing SK, but please dont BRAG!!!! again humility ang kindness goes hand n hand, you can naver go wrong.
@@mahyakc8369 this video was created to give recognition on how PH helped korea. It's not good if Usa took all the credit. People should learn. In todays generation koreans tend to be racist about filipinos while in fact if it the ph didn't help. Korea may be not what it is today. Just saying

I think it was that Battle where Gen McArthur himself declared something like "give me 10 thousand Filipino soldiers and i will conquer the world" or something to that effect!
My korean boyfriend didn't know about this until we became friends. He hates me because some korean teachers change the stories, and they said we Filipinos are the bad guys...good thing he woke up from their lies :)
Salamat din sa pagshare nyo ng history of Korea-Philippines Relations from 1950. You are more Filipino in heart and spirit than some young people I know. You are proud to wear the Philippine flag colors jacket. And keep cooking our delicious Filipino food. Mabuhay and may God bless your kind hearts. Oh by the way, if you eat the pinoy noodles at night, you need to drink plenty of water to help in your digestion. Noodles expand even after eating in your stomach. . Baka mabangungot kayo, kasabihan ng matatanda. Walang mawawala kung susundin ang panukala na ito. Thank you again and God bless.
I think I know that. Underscore the Mt. Jiri ( not sure), where Filipino soldiers killed thousands of Chinese and only finger counted Filipinos were injured. The Filipinos didn't even have winter clothes during the war. Eventually the reason of the US General McArthur claimed and quote, "give me 1,000 Filipinos to kill thousands and thousands of Chinese soldiers." REGARDING AQUINO, he actually cut himself putting a band aid and went back to the Philippines acting that he was hurt during the war (evidences are in my FB account). Aquino publicly known as a family, good at orchestrating stories and liars, as well as corruptors. They are basically like the Kim Jung-Un clan of North Korea. STICH, regarding Marcos, he didn't steal any money and because of Aquino's hungry of power, they made stories against the Marcos'. If you check the Wikipedia and other reliable sources, it clearly states - ALLEGED. Not any cases filed in and out of the country by the Marcos' opponents won. The trial of the century in New York by the Aquino's camp and US government won by the Marcos. That's a brazen evidence that a good family can never be put down by evil forces. It's the history that judge the Marcos family. That undeniably prove the innocence of the Marcos. The medias (local and international), companies, and foreign independent bodies paid by the Aquino and using the Filipino money to destroy the name of Marcos succeeded because many Filipinos and international communities believed their accusation, however pure lies. Just only this time that the existence of the social media vindicates the name of Marcos vis-a-vis information and debates online from both Marcos and Aquino camps. FYI, the American government and CIA at that time were scared of Marcos, who tried to use the gold as medium in the international economy; knowing that Marcos and Philippines have more gold reserves than the US. If indeed Philippines and Marcos prospered during those times, we remain and still one of the richest country in the world, while it weakens the American dollar. Ironically, Aquino and US Liberal party ruined the plans of the Marcos for their self-aggrandizement. Ask yourselves, how is Philippines during the Marcos regime compared to the 30 years Aquino ruled the country. Cory Aquino's time is the onset of rob-out, shoot-out, brazen corruption, and the cheapest price of the fish - GALONG-GONG ( e.g., once 20 pesos became 80) instantly went up. A time when government owned companies like Meralco was privatized, which at this time adamant to regulate the prices of the electricity. A time when the bandits - NPA/COMMUNIST were released which causes many raids and chaos in the community. A time when the Marcos infrastructure projects (e.g., MRT, LRT, Lung Hospital, Children's hospital, schools, and many more) were discontinued or left unimproved, making the lives of the Filipinos suffer. A time where you widely see those beggars and people living under the bridge- informal settlers. Did Aquino's improved the lives of the Filipinos? Absolutely NOT! NONE and only BRAINLESS AND NINCOMPOOPS are swayed by the Aquino propaganda. Aquino was NEVER been a hero. He didn't do anything to the Philippines albeit sold SABAH in Borneo to get political support from the Malaysians. He sacrificed his life to be killed at Manila International Airport by his family member and blame it to Marcos as a tool for their political propaganda. FILIPINOS NEED TO WAKE UP! Just to clear it up, the Philippines does not actually make money from rice. In fact, it is quite poor policy for the Philippines to aim for rice self sufficiency because the odds are against us when it comes to rice production. We undergo a really harsh drought every year, followed by a very violent typhoon season that always affects rice yield. The geography is also not ideal for rice farming due to poor irrigation. But because people can't accept that we can't be self sufficient in our staple, we restrict rice import and put up policies that baby rice farmers and hurt our economy. One of the main effects of these policies: high food prices. It hurts my heart to see my fellow Filipinos starving because rice prices are so high due to the shortage. Rice imports would help lessen food prices by a lot. Good rice technology is something we can be proud of, and the tech should be used to improve our yields but we must not be blind to the fact that history shows we were never a strong producer of rice like Vietnam and Thailand whose fields are irrigated by great rivers. Policies should be geared towards helping farmers shift to producing agricultural items that we have strong advantages in (e.g. bananas, mangoes, pineapples, and even rice seed which is not the same as rice production itself). Export of these products would help our economy and make it very easy to import rice to cover the population. It would also help some of the most marginalized farmers so much. - from someone who studied this lol sorry for the length
Sir/maam i just read your comment. I just want to ask for your opinion about redeveloping the rice market in our country.. What if the rice farmers establish an association (run by them and/or their family members) where it is in charge of milling, transporting, and selling rice in the markets. For example, farmers sell the rice to the the association for 25-30 pesos/kilo (its more than what they are aking now) and then the association adds 10 pesos ( just to cover expenses like i.e. manpower, transportation, etc). This system thus bypass rice trades (who some of them hoards rice making the market bad) and rice sellers (who make a fortune out of rice farmers hard work). I dont know thw correct numbers thus needing an expert opinion on the subject matter.
we used to be a rice exporter during the 60s and 70s, but by the late 70s we begun to import rice..and there were shortage of rice back then..and the pilipino people was encourage to mix their rice with corn or other beans.
Damn! half way through the video and I needed to pause because I can't stop the fucking tears anymore. I seriously don't know what to say about it. I had no idea. We're like brothers and sisters from another mother. Well, I definitely feel blessed to have this kind of history with the Koreans. Thank you and always take care.
My old man was a Korean War Veteran, Philippine Expeditionary Forces TO Korea, PEFTOK, 2nd BCT. Being a PEFTOK Dependent, Yes i agree but abusado rin kasi ang pinoy eh. Way back then, during the 80's yata un, when the Korean Government offered jobs to dependents of PEFTOK Veterans. But the way i see it and from what i heard, nilamutak lang yata ng mga pulitiko saka ng mga officials ng PEFTOK community ang agreement na un by sending some or probably a lot of none PEFTOK dependents to work in Korea under such agreement. Plenty overstayed, nag TNT. I brought up this matter during the last PEFTOK Veterans and Dependents gathering i attended in iloilo City way back 1997 yata un. i asked the possibility of the PEFTOK Association could ask the Korean Government to grant us dependents of jobs in Korea. Kung di ko pa tinanong di namin nalaman na nag offer na pala way way back then ng Agreement ang Korean Government with the PEFTOK Association. Bali na bypass ang karamihan ng mga real dependents na sana ay nakapagtrabaho sa Korea under the said agreement.

it is an info campaign you need to do to the koreans coming here, so they would all around soften their stance on filipinos. you have been focusing on a very small piece. look at israel, how they show their gratitude, that's your model
Korean should treat Filipino with great respect without this brave Filipino soldier there will be no south Korea now .No other national can do r this only FILIPINO that make Filipino Unique.
In marcos time we are a rich country! we are the one helping other country but when Aquino take over the philippines, now we are the one who needs help!!!aquino administration is the worst thing that happened to the philippines.
u guys do know that marcos stacked money from the philippines to his swiss bank account... switzerland gave some money back to the ppl in philippines... its been the one n only time switzerland ever did that for anyone... it wasnt just aquino it as marcos who started the decline on the philippines
Most allegations againts Marcos was fabricated by the yellow ribbon. During Marcos regime we have 50 million population and 90% of that population were pro Marcos! The decline of our country happens during Cory Aquinos term because she did not continue those good and useful program that Marcos had started. We know the real story we are Filipinos and we know what had really happen. The yellow ribbon if you don't know are very good on spreading lies and bloated information because they have some paid media entities.
There's an old Korean restaurant in Malate Manila that is owned by a half Korean and Filipino woman, I think its Korean Palace if I'm not mistaken, the story of this restaurant came from one of the Filipino soldiers who fought the war, he met a Korean woman after the battle of Yultong, this Filipino soldier married this Korean and brought her to the Philippines. Their daughter is the one managing this restaurant today.

I heard about this from my Senior High School teacher and the details he delivered was the same from the details of this video. That day, I was amazed and felt even more proud. And I think I was right seeing this invisible string of relationship between the Filipinos and the Koreans.
I like this reaction.. there's food, side comments and the last isn't (for me) necessary.. if our great-grandparents helped other countries in need, the payment needed is to cherish the positive outcome. Korea now is a striving country and Korea brought us (in this generation) KDramas which are really good. Come think of it, Koreans are the larger tourist in the Phils, Chinese and Japanese often go here for business. Koreans I've met mostly are students in university, 'exchange' teachers and tourists. Esp., now that summer is coming, they also come in indoor pools in Bulacan (there so many of them) and Baguio for some cool air.
During the korean war the filipino soldier fight for heroism not because of their country but for the koreans. Remember this was an history of bravery &noble heroes.

South Korea never forgot the Philippine's participation in the Korean War. As a testament of their gratitude, they sent Korean soldiers to help rehabilitate the areas devastated by typhoon Yolanda and posted a HUGE sign saying " We are here to repay your sacrifices of blood in the Korean War with our own sweat drops."
Koreans are the number one tourist in my country.I went home last month, every place I went like Bohol, Mambukal hot spring, Oslob or in Cebu I saw Koreans a lot 😛

To my fellow Filipinos its better to keep silence than to brag the things we have done in the past...be humble no need to remind them..its already there...its already a history..
Not even equal po .. Yes we're thankful kasi they help us during the Yolanda .. but those 1400 Filipino soldiers who stand still and sacrifice their lives to protect Korea is not comparable to what they have done to our country .. I mean it's not only Korea the country who sends rescue to Philippines that time but the whole world did 🙄 not bragging though I'm just confused kasi you sounds 🙄

Now 2019 we have the best president we discover oil from mindanao it is more than than saudi duterte plan to build and build in our country so Philippines will rise again and help the other countries to rise again..
Filipino are willing to fight against bad country until their last breath just to make future better so we should be thankful to our ancestors because they don't care if they die as long as they are fighting to make future better. If they didn't fight maybe filipino are still hold by other country and South Korea probably didn't exist. Thanks to our ancestor for making us 'Malaya' free.
We filipinos we just did our humble support in your country in our own prospect of democracy and peace and you did your own great jobs of moving forward after the war we respect you too
I hope more Koreans who usually looked down to SE Asians, particularly to Filipinos who judges us by either the color of our skin, the economic state of the country etc, are shown this documentary about Philippines and how Filipinos fought along side them during the Korean War or at least be reminded of this for those who have seems to have forgotten. Lest I say...it goes both ways, there are also Filipinos who thinks that the best & only way to defend themselves is to throw insults back w/c is incredibly ridiculous if not stupid. Anyway thank you for loving the Philippines the best way you know how....please consider featuring something about "KOPINOS" as there are thousands of children in the Philippines who have been abandoned by their Korean fathers in the Philippines who are waiting & hoping to be recognized.
I've seen varying numbers for troop strength in regards to the battle of yuldong. The first time I heard of that battle, the numbers were 50,000 chinese, 1,000 Filipinos, with 4 Filipinos killed and 30,000 chinese killed. Later, the numbers changed, 40,000 chinese vs. 1,400 Filipinos, 14,000 chinese and 4 Filipinos killed. Now I'm seeing 40,000 chinese and 900 Filipinos, over 500 chinese killed and 12 Filipinos killed. I'm trying to learn what I can about this battle, but even at the lower numbers that I'm now seeing, this was still an incredible victory for the 10th BCT, who became known as the Fighting Filipinos. From what I've read, these are the events of the battle (please bear in mind that I'm quoting this from memory, and so a few minor details may be slightly off). During the evening of 22nd April, 1951, the Chinese attacked the Filipino, British, American, Turkish and Puerta Rican positions in and around yultong. The Americans, Turks and Puerta Ricans were forced to retreat during these attacks. The British Royal Gloucestershire Regiment, which was already at half strength due to its soldiers being killed in action and wounded, and also due to disease and illness, was quickly surrounded by the Chinese. They bravely held their ground throughout the night. To the east of the British position, the Filipinos were also surrounded by the Chinese and were also fending off multiple waves of Chinese attacks. During the fighting, the order was given for the cooks, clerks, medics and everyone else to take up arms and defend against the Chinese. The Chinese forces actually broke through the Filipino lines on multiple occasions during the night, and the Filipinos resorted to hand to hand combat whenever this happened. I've also heard reports that a few of the Filipino soldiers were actually crying tears of pity for the chinese during the fight, but I can't confirm if that is true or not. Even so, with what I know about Filipinos (I am half Filipino, myself) I can find some level of truth in that statement. The fighting continued throughout the night, and in the morning, an American unit relieved the Filipinos from their position. Before the Filipinos left, an American officer asked a Filipino machine gunner "What are those rags on the floor" to which the machine gunner replied "Those are dead reds, Sir". On the morning of the 23rd April, the armour of the 10th BCT was ordered to assist the American armour in their attempt to get to the Royal Gloucestershire Regiment. The American tanks attempted to enter the valley between 2 hills, but the valley was too narrow and had been laid with chinese anti tank mines. 1 American tank was hit by a mine (I need to reconfirm that piece of information). The Filipino tanks, which were smaller than the American tanks, was then ordered to enter the valley. They did so. I think it was 8 tanks that went in (It might have been 6) and 2 were quickly destroyed by anti tank mines. A further 1 or 2 tanks were destroyed further in the valley. During this time, the Royal Gloucestershire Regiment somehow got word that the Filipinos were mounting a rescue attempt. The joy and relief felt by the British soldiers at hearing this news was palpable, and the men started singing Manila Rose. The Filipino tanks came to within 2km's of the British position, but with half of their numbers gone, they were no longer combat effective and requested reinforcement from the UN. Because UN forces were getting hit hard across the line, the reinforcement request was denied, and the remaining tanks of the 10th BCT was forced to retreat. The Royal Gloucestershire Regiment was eventually captured by the chinese and were forcibly marched north towards the border of north korea and china, where they remained prisoners of war for years, even after hostilities of the war officially ended. This was the battle where the 10th BCT earned the title "The Fighting Filipinos" and because of their bravery, ability and dedication to duty, General Douglas MacArthur said "Give me 10,000 Filipinos, and I shall conquer the world" This is the most accurate description of events that I have found during my personal study of the battle of yuldong. Please forgive any errors or mistakes, it is not my intention to disrespect or demean the actions of the soldiers who fought during this battle, no matter what country they served with...including china. Regardless of the politics of their country, a soldier is a soldier, and the majority of soldiers choose to serve in order to protect their country. There is no nobler cause than the protection of country and the safeguarding of those who are unable to defend themselves. If anyone does find any mistakes or errors in what I've written, please let me know, and i will be sure to look into it and make sure to correct it. The battle of Yuldong is one of the only moments in history where British and Filipino forces have worked so closely together during a time of combat, and as a British Filipino, I am incredibly proud and honoured to be from both nations. If you've read this far, then well done and thank you! My comment ended up being a bit of an essay, for which I apologise, but I felt that it was important for it to be written down, especially since the video is in regards to the actions of Filipino soldiers during the Korean war. For my Korean friends, I hope and pray that north and south korea are reunified under the South korean government, or at the very least, the the kim family and all their evil cronies are booted out of power and that the North korean people can live in freedom without the fear of the government hanging over their shoulders. The enemy isn't the people of north korea, after all, it's the leaders of north korea.
One thing I forgot to mention, after the korean war, there was a TV show called M*A*S*H, which was about everyday life in a US Army M*A*S*H unit. The reason why I mention this TV show is because not only did they make reference to the Royal Gloucestershire Regiment on several occasions, immortalising their role during the battle of yultong, they also mentioned the 10th BCT on at least 2 occasions, as well as the Hukbalahap rebellion, which was a communist rebellion that took place in the Philippines during the late 1940's to 1950/51. The Filipinos were mentioned by Margaret "hot lips" houlahan, and the british were mentioned by Hawkeye, hot lips and a few other characters. Even though the Filipinos only had a small mention in the show, it was a huge thing, especially considering the show was filmed during the 1970's.
Most of Korean forgotten it. they never knew who was giving their freedom, who sacrifice their own life to protect them. A hundreds of Filipino soldiers was died in the Battle of Korean War. if you gonna watch the history of Korean war in 1950 to 1955, and the tribute of Filipino soldier's, you can see, who was really they are.. they are not only a soldiers of their own country( Philippines) and also a friend and willing to help the other country. of course korean's should know it. because one of the soldier's is my grandfather, and iam so proud of him. i didn't mean that S. korea should thank us. no!, i only want is remembering The Filipino Soldiers was become their Hero in their past. Most especially The Soldiers who lost their life.
hindi naman na need mag bow down ng korean sa pinas besides magkaibigan ang philippines and korea basta mabuhay kayong dalawa korean man kayo pero kitang kita ang pagka pusong pinoy niyo thank you sa pag yakap niyo sa pinas
Speaking of high voices, I've always wondered why women in Korea, Japan, and China always seem to have such squeaky voices. At least on TV. Is it just how it's supposed to sound like linguistically? Is it acting and a convention for an "entertainer's voice"? Is it the ideal "sexy" female voice in your cultures or something? It's more puzzling because men retain the usual pitch range, even in Chinese which is a tonal language.
It's kinda sad seeing how far we've fallen though. From one of the most promising countries in Asia, to just another third world shithole. Thanks government. /sarcasm

Koreans doesn't need to bow down to filipinos. We just need to create a peaceful relationship. No wars... I hope that our relationship would continue to be strong.
I am also thankful for koreans who help our economy.
Abigail M no one is asking anyone to bow down to someone, atleast not me my friend.
Abigail M no one ask to bow just be friends each others respect each others thats it
Abigail M no one is asking to vow down we are the same.

Abigail M Yes yes. That's right. Just peace💖 Just Respect each other💖
Filipinos be modest and stay humble.
You're right!

Don't change!! love you guys✌
KpoPark good info i just really dont know about this
some koreans look down to filipinos nowadays forgeting who help them during the korean war! take for example of that korean restaurant in manila area banning filipinos to dine!
Kudi Ohara which place in manila is that restaurant located?
Kudi Ohara There's seriously a Korean restaurant in Manila, the capital of the Philippines, that bans Filipinos from dining? Wow O_O
But those Filipinos held their position.
rickjamez13itch 8
was this the story where a squad was trapped at the top of a dead volcano and made a last stand?
rickjamez13itch not 10 its 20+ casualties and 26 wounded I think and yep they hold they're post even though U.S and other countries retreat for getting reinforcements that's kinda cool and awesome :)
They stayed strong and killed the Communist Chinese troops to make them retreat back to their secondary position which is in the Battle of Muldong.

I think I know that. Underscore the Mt. Jiri ( not sure), where Filipino soldiers killed thousands of Chinese and only finger counted Filipinos were injured.
The Filipinos didn't even have winter clothes during the war. Eventually the reason of the US General McArthur claimed and quote, "give me 1,000 Filipinos to kill thousands and thousands of Chinese soldiers."
REGARDING AQUINO, he actually cut himself putting a band aid and went back to the Philippines acting that he was hurt during the war (evidences are in my FB account).

The Philippines actually volunteered to UN for helping South Korea.
- from someone who studied this lol sorry for the length
heechulliebabo i agree...
And yet South Korea still requires filipinos to get Tourist VISA to enter their country. 😂 ohhh the Irony.

This was the battle where the 10th BCT earned the title "The Fighting Filipinos" and because of their bravery, ability and dedication to duty, General Douglas MacArthur said "Give me 10,000 Filipinos, and I shall conquer the world"
This is the most accurate description of events that I have found during my personal study of the battle of yuldong.
Even though the Filipinos only had a small mention in the show, it was a huge thing, especially considering the show was filmed during the 1970's.
what's the guy's name wearing the Philippine flag jacket? he looks familiar 👀

/sarcasm
more estrogen
Nope. There are plenty of bilingual actresses who lower their voices when speaking English.
women try to sound sexy because of insecurities
