I much prefer the "Performer" range, even though cheaper than "Professional, mainly because of the Jumbo frets. I have 5 of these Performers and the neck profile is perfect for slightly smaller hands..the feel of the necks are priceless. The Performer Telecaster with Humbucker(my one is aubergine/ purple)gives one some very gutsy Blues tones not even found on much more expensive Teles .
I prefer Danish Pete's playing, shredding is overrated. If you play so fast your notes are percussive, you miss the point. It turns a melodic instrument into a percussive instrument. In small doses it is ok but too much ruins it, the same goes for slap bass.
Holy moley! Penny is the name of that colour... I never thought I'd see new models with it. I have three mid-80s MiJ Strats... all identical, right down to the colour, which I now know to be 'penny'. Very cool... and I learn something every other week or so.
I like them too, I think they look more "in balance" compared to the body. I prefer the 70's headstock but I think the normal headstock looks great too, it's just preference. I do think Fender should have a guitar line up with 70's headstocks (and not the Squiers) so I think it's a good thing!
I too love the 70’s headstock. When I see a standard headstock it just looks too small to me. I used to not care for the 70’s headstock but my tastes have changed.
Only two minutes in so far, but I just have to say LEE YOUR PLAYING IS FLIPPING TASTY. You're clearly taking Justin's wisdom on board. Lovely stuff, keep it up man!
Finally arrived! SSS Performer Strat. I've tried Player Series, Player Plus, Vintera Series. Every of these unit had flaws. Even Vintera Modified, which is almost the same price as Performer was setup horribly in the store. Tuners were not in straight line, some screws were askew... Before I bought Performer, I've tried it in two different stores, both units were setup correctly, and finish was flawless. Today my Performer arrived. It was ready to play, looking incredible and sounding awesome. I was hyped for Vintera after I heard MiMs are very good quality, but in my case it turned out otherwise. Cheers.
Reverse headstock makes it harder to bend high e, b and g srings while giving them better tuning stability, and reversing that for lower strings. That would be hardly noticeable though and the only real reason to have reversed headstock is looks.
No, it makes it easier to bend the high e, b and g. The reverse headstock reduces the string length of those strings so there is less tension on the strings (shorter string means less tension, just like on shorter scale guitars...like Gibson). Exactly the reason why multiscale guitars are built the way they are. Longer string length on the thick strings for more tension so tighter bass (important for metal, high gain), and shorter string length on the higher strings to lower tension and making fast playing easier.
I absolutely love the 'Penny' finish on that Strat, but then again, I've always been fond of the various metallic finishes in that coppery/bronzy-ish area of colour.
No hate, just some cartoon clarification for you boys: Yogi is NOT Disney , he’s Hanna Barbara Hes at Jellystone, not Yellowstone or Yosemite. Yosemite Sam is Warner Brothers. Cheers!

The recording sounds to me like it was partially just picking up Rob's pick hitting the strings rather than the sound coming through the pickups. If that isn't the case, I do not like the pickups in Rob's guitar at all.
William Chamberlain I’ve actually been noticing this a lot recently with the newer videos. It’s been driving me nuts. I never want to hear the sound of the pick hitting the strings on a guitar/amp review. Maybe the editor isn’t cutting their mic volumes when they’re playing anymore.

Great playing & tone throughout the video! Really enjoyed this one. I"m really digging the performer series, the Strat that Lee's playing in the first half of the vid is incredible. Love the videos guys, been a fan for a few years now and one thing remains in every video..........Captain Lee’s “Man-Bulge” the close ups can be a bit much haha haha
The satin neck is a massive upgrade over the lacquered ones to me. I may actually be able to play a maple neck one now without my fingers sticking to the fretboard like its covered in syrup. That would be delicious though...

Yogi lives in Jellostone. Yosemite is in the SIerra in California. Yellowstone is in Wyoming, Montana and a wee touch of Idaho methinks. Cheers
I'd buy a strat today if it didn't have the horrible 70s headstock.
It might grow on you once you own one. That’s what happened to me when I bought a Mexican strat. with a 70’s headstock and now I prefer the 70’s headstock to the standard one.
@@seansullivan7131 I love that spaghetti writing on the player series too much tho
Great editing job by Rory, I'm still giggling at the Lee-a-coaster. Whooo!
I don't think the English can enter the woodlands without getting their hands chopped off? Am I correct? If there were any woodlands remaining, I mean.
Yay, ordered my sonic blue Performer Tele, today! Can't wait!
The only thing wrong is they should cost 500.$
That first jam was something. I like the look of the pinky one too
This year ive gone deeper and deeper into the world of guitar, and my lesson is this. There are some FANTASTIC one man guitar Lutheir workshops who will build you a fantastic instrument with all the best parts for about £1000. A true lifelong instrument. I will always choose that. Oswald guitars to name one.
I'm not usually a fan of 'modern' colours but damn, that second Strat you played was beautiful Lee!
Great playing by the duo in the beginning! Love that progression as well
i have never heard chappers play such pleasing tones!
The honeyburst Performer Strat is my favourite. I also like the fact that they are based on 70's Strats.
I live in Corona California and went to the fender museum before it closed. It's pretty dope. Haha the day I get a custom shop I'll go in and talk to them.
16:23 “Paint colour changes the sound of a guitar” - Billy Corgan 2018
Ha ha ha!!! I saw that. Guess I'm going to have to buy a guitar in every color to test that theory.
I think that penny strat with a mint green pickguard would look even better, what an amazing color
