There are, however, countertenors who sing in concerts and a lot of old baroque music originally written for castrati. It's lovely music, just full of trills, arpeggios and grace notes. I would love to hear him try that.

In any case I don't think anyone should attempt this song in French unless they have the guidance of a native speaking French teacher as well as appropriate singing/voice lessons. This reminded me of my mom who passed just a year short of 90 years old. We lived in the remote North of Canada and she loved music but we rarely had an opportunity to see anything live unless we travelled South to Toronto. So records were it. She loved classical, choral, opera. Years later, I convinced her to move ‘down South’ in her 70’s to be with me and bought her season’s tickets to the opera, symphony and other concerts. This video of yours reminded me of those happy years so thank you. And, oui, merci for not butchering the French!
