Great cat story!!! Reminds me of my first cat, Clementine. She showed up at our house when I was just 9 years old and she, also, lived for 18 happy years, but her death was sudden. I doubt she even felt it, because our family had to leave our home for about a month, while it was being repaired, and we lived in an apartment during that time. Clementine had fallen asleep behind the rear right wheel of a large truck, which, not seeing her, backed over her head and killed her, sadly. But, Clementine had had a good life. She was never sick and she was elderly. She died quickly and, hopefully, without feeling much, if any, pain. Of course, I was angry with the truck driver for not seeing her and I grieved a while, but I’ve never forgotten what a great and loving cat she was.

Aww that's a terrible way to lose your kitty but we're really glad she was loved. ❤

I´m in that situation right now... I feel I want to die to be with my soulmate, Chico, who passed away 4 weeks ago because of a thrombose. (Avatar) 💔😭 He was only 8 years old. I cry my heart out daily since then and can´t stop grieving.

I'm so sorry about the loss of your little friend. It's so painful when a beloved cat passes and coping with it can be tough. Everyone has to grieve in their own way and it's important to treat yourself gently while you figure out how to fill the emptiness you feel without Chico with warm memories. Not sure how helpful it is to tell you but after I've lost a pet, I draw a portrait of them and try to think about what made them special while I'm working on it. I know people get tattoos or set a little fur in a locket to keep their pets close. I know someone who has a trap engraved with their cat's name and donates it to a TNR group and people make donations to the shelter in their cats' names. Also, and this might be a not-right-for-everyone take, but I feel like it's okay to take in another cat. Not as a replacement - 'cause you can *never* replace your dearest little friend - but because I know my cats would want comfort for another and I feel like that's something I can do to honor them. His passing doesn't mean you need to lose him - there's lots of ways to make sure your love for Chico, his memory, life, and cat-ness is celebrated - when you're feeling up to it, you'll just need to find the right way to honor him. (That said - you have to keep living to do that - and if you're feeling that kind of despair, please let someone know who can help. There are pet loss support groups out there too so you don't need to process all these big feelings alone - you can search for one near you or get in touch if you'd like some links.)

@@communitycatspodcast Thankyou so much for your kind words. I am trying my best to work my way through the grief. Day by day. I have Chico´s sister around, but she is a very shy and quiet cat, the total opposite of Chico who stuck by my side 24/7 as I am housebound. He was so nosy, mischieveous, loving and playful. I try to imagine him in Heaven, but sometimes it is difficult because I hear so many people talking of their NDE and they usually only mention seeing their dogs. I pray Chico will come back to me in another body, because I feel we have spent so many past lives together. Soulmates! That´s why the love and attachment is so strong. My flat feels so empty without him, but luckily I have his sister around me still. I will be on the lookout for Chico because his sister needs a playmate as well. They were rescues and never learned to play with toys and only played with each other. (catch me)💕 p.s. I read Karen´s book The Amazing Afterlife of Animals yesterday and recommend it to all who have lost their beloved pets - but it is also good to read so as to be prepared...

While watching this video, I was thinking about my cat: would I be able to make her come to me by sending her a mental picture message and she came right away! She told me that she would like more attention from me, so she really feels like I love her! I started scratching her head and neck areas and she didn’t want me to stop! If I tried to stop, she would reach out for my hand with her paws and put my hand on her head!!! She was abandoned by her previous owner, who gave her to me. He, also, had another cat, a Siamese named Moosh Mooshi, who gave birth to 4 kittens about a month before Rakim had hers. So, Rakim and I are just getting to each other. She needs to know that I love her and will always make sure she has everything she needs. That reassurance is important to a cat, so I’m making sure she knows how I feel towards her.
