I worked at Wells of Mayfair around 1986 and remember admiring a beautiful three piece grey flannel suit, that was on a rack of just cleaned suits. When I looked inside at its unique info label, it stated that the suit was made in 1965. Superior material, superior cloth pattern cutters and being made to measure, gives you supreme apparel. In 1986, their cheapest 2 piece suit was 552GBP. A great company.
Gieves and Hawke at number 1 Savile Row had the BEST cologne ever!!!!! Tommy Nutter makes the best waistcoat. The Beatles recorded on the roof of number 3.
I worked in Savile Row as a police officer at West End Central one of the busiest police stations in the World sadly like many other iconic locations it is now an anonymous office building.
'Size would be an issue'. Exactly what i was thinking. What that man was saying was ridiculous. A portly old man passing his suit to a son, still with an athletic physique. If its one size fits all, thats not quality.
I am surprised someone has not come up with an MRI-type machine that can take virtual measurements and then send them directly to the tailor. I would not want to go this route as I think the best part of the experience is the interaction with the tailors and cutters but I think that someone could pioneer this and greatly expand bespoke clothing.
You showed just a glimpse of a Katharine Hepburn pattern, but I wish you'd included her in the Huntsman suits she wore. She had all her men's suits made by Huntsman - suits, that is, that she herself wore.
I was an LA fash/apparel designer for 10 yrs and truly surprised how their pattern makers room was much like the one I worked w for years (fluorescent likes, bit messy and nooo feng shui)
They are around 4200 - 6000 without tax for a 2pc suit it depends on the house. But prices are about to rise. In the 60s they were about 91 pounds that's around 1500 now with inflation
@Christopher Jacobs He has never been "fashionable". That is the point. He has always looked cheap! He is asking donors to pay for a new plane, so he can travel around the country. GRIFTER!
Of course Sunday Morning can’t help themselves from interjecting the female angle. Nothing wrong with that per se, but I notice they don’t push equality when doing pieces on female-centric businesses.
No thanks! Not for that price! If I'd walk into a suit boutique a block down the street and bought a suit for say £1800 you would never be able to tell the difference! It's just a hype; to get your money!
It’s not always the look (although there are noticeable differences with bespoke suits), it’s the feel. A bespoke suit fits you perfectly, better than any off the rack or even tailored suit could ever do. For very wealthy people, it’s worth the extra money.

Is nutters still operate?

Love learning about Saville Row!
It was also the street where The Beatles had their rooftop performance for Get Back
There are a bunch of private equity firms on Saville Row. That area has beautiful architecture.
Cause every girls crazy bout a sharp dressed man. 🎼 🎩 👔
Definitely!
Robert Palmer anyone?
Yeah

Love it, love fashion!

People have tried and it's subpar
There are such machines, they are very inaccurate. It's not all about measurements as well.

That street name aged well 😆
It predates jimmy by at least 300 year's
@@officially-ROB Thanks, Captain Obvious 🙄
@@officially-ROB It's kinda creepy that you call Savile by his first name. I take it you're a fan.

I worked for Hardy Amies one of the classic Savil Row tailors. It's a special place.
How would rate Andrew Ramroop ??
what a wonderful place
I'm surprised they didn't talk about their royal customers.
Why? No surprise.
They named enough s
I think its because it's usually not the done thing and there is only one official royal tailor

Looks great ;-) However, just wondering how much the prices have gone up since Gregory Peck & Cary Grant days - versus the CPI Index?
That's wh at I want to know.

No interview with Andrew Ramroop??
Great documentary.
Comments from the peanut gallery……not needed!
Yasser Arafat also got his suits from this place
Video starts at 00:50
really?!
No one quite mentions 1969's Beatles last performance.

That may be for the Huntswomen but I want that
wear what you want!
It’s infamous for the Beatles 30 January, 1969 rooftop concert ha ha ha ha
trump should visit Huntsman. His suits look like Woolworth's clearance rack.
The next 'suit' IQ45 needs to be wearing is an ORANGE JUMPSUIT with a number on the front and back...
He could definitely do with a suit upgrade.
He'd never pay them! 🤣

Woolworth's became defunct July 1997.
Henry Poole is the king of Saville Row Bespoke, not Huntsman.
*Savile Row.
"Canadian Tuxedo"......bwhahahaha
Yeah that film didn't make it a tourist, ridiculous.
Where’s Pete Doherty?
In a ditch

60-100 years, I've had jackets that don't last a night, they're only cotton!
Huntsman is owned by Indians?

Don't you think??

Jimmy Savile row.
best in the world??? What about Cifonelli in Paris plus others in Milan???
Not a patch on Savile row tailors.
I'll stick with Men's Warehouse
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. Just as good right??
I'm joking of course. Any man in a Saville Row suit looks like royalty.

Probably very few people could tell the difference between a bespoke suit and a high end one off the rack
