Son, you had better cherish the time with that old fellow there..! Listen to what he has to say, and learn what he happens to teach.... a true craftsman and Artist... your work is awesome.
Dude, spend as much time as possible with that man. Turning and blacksmithing, nice. I stayed by my grandpa's side growing up (diesel mechanic), rarely do I need to pay an auto shop bill.
That was awesome. I like the two-part design on the insert. I have made a few, but have been all one piece. your way looks much easier, and sounds great. Great video. Thank you
Marv you are a treasure please keep making videos.......I am a call maker and collector and love the calls I have of yours........wish I could get a slingshot or a carved hammer though :) Joe Reinsch
Know this was a long time ago this video was made but I was wondering if there was anyway I could get you to make me one I'm wanting to get into duck hunting I'd like to go ahead and start to learn how to call and it be pretty cool to have one of your calls
Tried to make a duck call one time with my Pa in his shop (he's got everything you have in you shop) we were just going to make the barrel of the call and put an echo insert into it. Cracked in half. I'd like to try it again sometime!
Another jolly good show! You seem to have 2 profiles going... one for each video. I subscribed to both so I don't miss anything. What's the old lathe? I have a Jet 1236, your's looks a lot more heavy duty.
Looks like youve done this a time or two. You blew throw that. Id still be truing up the barrel. You have everything in order, everything at arms reach. I hope someday ill be this good. You have this down pat. Great job.
hey stephen what did u use for a read cus me where i live i cant order some reads cus shipping is like 50$ and my cart is 5$ lol so did u use a real read or did u use somthing else!
6CoMaNdEr6 good luck with your new lathe...remember you will need a bench grinder sharpen your lathe tools... a $29.00 menards grinder will do just fine
Tell your Grandpa he is very kewl for doing this video. Do you think you could ask him to publish some dimensions to go along with this. I wasn't able to get a good feel on the drill dimensions or the sounding board. How wide was each piece? Regards, BAG2
Instead of "How to make a duck call" the title should be "Watch me make a duck call". Not trying to offend or anything its just that I cant really see what you were doing whenever your facing the camera and holding it close to your chest and doing idk too it. Because its smaller than your hand so all I can see is the back of your hands and all I can tell is that your fidgeting with something. I guess as far as taking a piece of lumber and making it into the shape of a duck call then you definitely did display that. Btw nice shop, I miss my man cave workshop. My parents moved and asked to use it as temporary storage, and that was a few years ago and I have absolutely nowhere else I could put it. One day ill get it back, soon I hope lol.
Damn if that was my grand pops I would perfect that craft he is giving out ask him if I could start making call with his equipment and put duck dynasty out of business go to the local stores in my County and ask if I could sale my Calls in there store at a my operational Break even point jus to see will they sell without taking a loss if they do good than start changing the store at a wholesale price if the sales are high jus to get my name out there then I’ll move to the County over repeat the same process until I have the state 🗣

I like your duck call. What was the tool you put in the chuck to hold your base? Also what bit did you have in the routor?

My grand sons have made a few calls. They are more into sports then hunting.
The woodturning was okay, you couldn't see what he was doing as far as the reed was concerned, not helpful if you have never seen a duck call.
