Having 2 Riders together was absolutely genius. The perfect example of making the best of a bad situation, the fact that Rider 2 didn't just replace Rider 1 outright made for a far more exciting show. Neither of them are Robin to the others Batman, they are both Kamen Riders. It's the sixth Ranger excitement, a new character adding a new dynamic to the shows fights and character interactions in general.
I've long been hoping that the writers for DC's FLASH comics would use the Hongo/Ichimonji dynamic for Barry Allen and Wally West. In FLASH fan circles, there's a bitter rivalry between the fans of Barry (the main Flash from 1956-1986, and again from 2009-2021) and the fans of Wally (formerly Kid Flash, and then the main Flash from 1986-2009 and again since last year). If only DC would learn to trade off between Barry and Wally the way Toei traded off between Hongo and Ichimonji. 😃
I love how absolutely useless that Rider Wheel is. They just made that stunt for no reason since they just kick the enemy normally right after they finished it.
But here is the thing: It's hella memorable. So much so that multiple games reference this attack, from Pokemon to even the Ryo Ga Gotoku/Yakuza-series.
Episode 41, which is the episode where Takeshi and Hayato first team up, is apparently the show's highest rated episode in terms of ratings. And for good reason!

There was a segment on TV long ago that is floating around UA-cam. They had the actors representing Gills from Agito, Ichi-go and V3. Two points brought up were: 1. Gills having relationship and love stuff, and 2. his power ups. It led to some hilarity from the old guard saying how the young have it good since "back in our day, we were solitary warriors with no time or opportunity for love" and "back in our day, I had to get kidnapped to get an upgrade" which was the case for Ichi-go IIRC. No comment on Revice personally, not watching it.
I always enjoy whenever you do a vid say, overviewing an entire ultra series, but I’ve absolutely loved the slower, more methodical trek through Kamen Rider. Not something many channels would be up for.
Kamen Rider is basically just Japanese wrestling with superheroes, no matter what season you are watching. Even though, later seasons might occasionally add weapons and giant robot forms.

Personally I missed Goro. Of all the kid characters i this show, Goro had the most personality. I liked his mischievous and spunky attitude which comedically played off the other cast members. And although characterization was light, I also missed Emi, who wasn't even mentioned in these videos.
Did anyone also mention the disappearance of Hongo Takeshi actor in ep 60? It was during New Ichigo, when it was even more popular than the Nigo and right before the 2nd movie came out. The actor DISAPPEARED without explanation. (He wanted to act in other TV show but it was decided that Kamen Rider show will be extended, ended up 98 episodes. It was too long to him and perhaps he protested.) Toei team did not know where he was (until now no one knows). That was the reason that the supposed to be new Shocker Kaijin in Movie 2 FIRST APPEARED in TV episode 66 to buy one week's time since they were trying to postpone the filming of an important episode: The return and defeat of Dr. Death. Then that new kaijin became an old kaijin in the movie (technically be a new kaijin twice). Also, Originally Dr. Death's identity was supposed to be the shark kaijin (it even has the collar of Dr. Death's cape on its neck! It also has a GOLD Shocker Belt.) but that shark kaijin also became a regular kaijin in 67 to buy another extra week of time. Finally, the actor of Hongo decided to come back, apologized, and promised to be a good Kamen Rider until the end. Hence finally they can film the important episode, but Dr. Death's identity had changed from a shark to a squid kaijin in ep 68 (and yes, they add Dr.Death's cape collar on squid kaijin's neck) . In those several episodes, Hongo was absented in the show, the FBI Taki took on the main role just like ep 11, the henshined Kamen Rider showed up much more often, just like ep 11-13. and Rider has an obvious different voice just like ep 11-13. Btw the Gold Belt of Shark Kaijin was supposed to be a one time thing for Dr. Death's true idenetity, but they had to change the gold belt into regular afterwards to say that they are powered up Shocker kaijins, and the shark kaijin was only the first powered-up kaijin.
Genuinely, I enjoyed Ambassador Hell's performance so much. He was so over the top along with his design, and I don't know any other word to describe it then just plain fun.

Its so amazing to me to keep thinking about how LONG the original Kamen Rider is. Goranger lasted 84 and Ultraman 39. This? Lasted 90 and that is amazing.
Jigoku Taishi was definitely the best of the three Shocker leaders. Sadly, the character died in Kamen Rider Ichigo (2016), albeit with honor and respect.

I'm a little behind, around episode 45 or so, I but I will say I noticed a recurring element regarding Zol and Shinigami's methodology. Zol was a fan of recruiting children into being raised into Shocker's ranks, which is horrifying, while Shinigami prefers straight up brainwashing people. Something that's been bugging me all series though is how interchangeable all the ladies have been. When one of them leaves its without acknowledgement with the sole exception of Ruriko all the way back in episode 14. They seem to serve no purpose other than to provide moral support for the child of the week being menaced by Shocker, which in and of itself feels very samey. Speaking of which, is there a reason NONE of them are let in on the secret Hongo and Hayato are the Kamen Riders? I mean two are introduced in episode 40 as Hongo's assistants he met in Europe and even they are left in the dark? Why? I look at all of the superfluous women in this series, then look at Sakura over on Revice and think, "This series has come a long way." Ok, you want something more positive I'm sure. Lets go with Bearkonger for my favorite monster of this part of the show. Not only is that a cheesy as hell name, not only does the suit have a unique head sculpt compared to most, but he comes across as a serious threat. Forcing Hayato to fight with a broken arm makes him stand out. Not to mention, a monster riding on a snowmobile while hogtying our hero down a mountain will never not be funny.
Watched Kamen Rider when I was a kid so long ago. I never even noticed changes in the women or kids supporting roles. I was more interested in the fight / action scenes. Two Riders instead of one ? Even better
I miss Mari glamor girl fencer and Michi the tomboyish grappler. The had a lot of personality compared to the latter club members. Also, gotta go with the shinigami the squid vampire.
Mari was definitely hot. I was too young during the first run to recognize that fact. It was only a bit later that she caught my eye. Heck, if I were Hayato, I would have gladly burned through multiple rolls of film on her. I guess the show did not want to portray him as a perv.
