  • Looking into putting the dashboard back together along with the electric window motor and mechanism as well as the door.
Various jobs on the Volvo 480 now that the weather is getting better and I can get out and fix a few of the smaller niggling faults.

Thanks for showing how the window meganism works; mine is broken; I expected it was some plastic what was broken; but thanks to you I know it probably the cable. Replacing plastic parts is a lot harder then just a cable. (At least getting the parts is harder).

Glad it's helped you spot what's wrong with yours. Cable you can change relatively easily.
I ended up ordering a new whole thing from Skandix but that's expensive!
Hope you can get yours sorted

Hey loving you videos! Just bought a 480s today and the fuel and temp gauge also doesn't work, did you find the reason for yours not working and a fix for it? :)

I've not fully sorted it out, that's a future video!
Hope you're enjoying yours, I can't wait to start driving mine

@@junkendriven I found a really useful post on the volvo 480 club Europe which showed how to fix it, somehow moisture had gotten to the back of the board and caused corrosion, so I ended up cleaning it all up and re soldering the cracked pins and it worked a treat after! :)
& Hopefully you'll get to enjoy your wonderful car soon too! :D

I'm buying one of these soon, so I will subscribe for next videos about the 480.
Could you make some measurements on the driving position (length of the seat and the backrest, from the backseat to the ceiling, and from the seat to the pedals). I'm a bit tall (1.95m.), and i'm not sure if i will fit in one ot these).
The one I'm looking doesn't have a sunroof.

Hi, thanks for getting in touch. Unfortunately I have both seats out of the front of the car at the moment so measuring may be a problem! But I think you'll be fine. The seats are pretty low-rider style so you sit very close to the ground with a lot of headroom. I'm about 1.7m and have plenty space, so hopefully you will too! Drop me an email sometime when you get yours as it's good to hear from other owners or visit the European forums www.volvo-480-europe.org/forum/index.php

How do i get the front and rear seats and the doorcards out?
I need to weld and have no intention in setting the car on fire.
Do you know how to strip the interior?:)

Hi, I can't believe I've not shown that as Ive done it loads of times now! Lol.
Front seats there are 4 torx bolts holding them in, slide seat all the way forward and you'll see the rear two, then back and the front two. They're tricky. I had to spray underneath the car with wd40 first as the bolt heads stick out and get stuck. I also had to heat them with blowtorch.
Rear seats are easy, the backs drop down on a catch the. Slide out (don't lose the plastic clip that comes out!) Then the base cusion lifts from the back, there is a metal clip at front that you wiggle then push in to unclip.
      Hope that helps

@@junkendriven thank you! That helps a lot. In which direction do i pull on the rear seat to pull it out?
And how do i remove the doorcard?:)

No problem! I'll probably do a quick video at the weekend since I've not actually recorded this bit (There are quite a few on the volvo480 so take a browse through my channel for #junkendriven #volvo480 )
On the rear seat, the back you click to fold it down as normal, when it's in the folded position you pull towards the front of the car. Look down one of the sides, can't remember if its the inner or outer and you'll see the plastic clip that you squeeze to release it. Don't pull too hard as those clips are like gold dust to replace! The rear seat cushions are tricky. Lift gently from the back (near boot) first and you'll feel them lift. Then look under the front of the cushion and find the metal tab, use a screwdriver to poke at it and it'll release. Takes a few goes to get right!
Doorcard, I really can't remember now! Fairly sure it's just a few screws along the base/side, take the door release off and it lifts upwards and off.
      Good luck!
