The Kingston Flyer is a vintage steam train in the South Island of New Zealand at the southern end of Lake Wakatipu. It uses 14 kilometres of preserved track that once formed a part of the Kingston Branch. Originally, Kingston Flyer was a passenger express train between Kingston, Gore, Invercargill, and less frequently, Dunedin. It was operated by the New Zealand Railways (NZR) from the 1890s to 1957.

Great to see this old loco working must have a very good fireman and driver as there was very little to no smoke being spewed out.

It’s nice to see that it burns clean, like UK locos. American and European locos always seem to spew out dark smoke. Does that mean that NZ coal is clean, or that this is an efficient loco? I rode that line way back in the 70s.
