@Naitoraven951 - Thanks :-) I was actually thinking "shit - I've got 2 weeks to write all the music for some race game that I've never heard of!!" I was writing 2 tracks a day. One in the morning. One in the afternoon. Certain ones had to be "chip music", where I created a bank of samples that were triggered by a MIDI file, such as this track. This was due to the CD being used to stream new car models, so I couldn't always use CD audio (which is why the car tunes all use the same sample bank). Anyway, glad you like it anyway. Cheers, Jason.
I can't believe you're actually replying to people here! You made some insane melodies that made our childhood. So damn good. You're seriously musically talented.
Thanks, Earl. I guess I reply as I'm honoured that people have such fond memories of my music. It's genuinely touching. You can find a lot of my music on SoundCloud. Just search for NoOtherMedicine
+Jason Page Same here ! I didn't expect at all to be able to talk to the man who wrote the theme songs from my childhood ! I think that back in the old days you would never have expected your songs to have such an affective value in millions of gamers' mind. And now seeing all the car guys getting these nostalgia feels listening to them 10, 15, soon 20 years after playing Gran Turismo for the first time. These tracks are just legendary.
+Guilhem Massie Again. Thank you! I must admit, I was very happy with these tracks. And I thought they suited the game far better than the original Japanese tunes for our European tastes. But, yes, I didn't think they would have a long-lasting impact. I would have loved to have done the same with the other GT games, but the chance never came up.
Character for each dealer: Aston Martin: British Chevrolet: Classy, American-sounding Dodge: Classic Honda: Mysterious (For that NSX) Mazda: Fast, sporty Mitsubishi: Classic, High-selling Nissan: TOTALLY FAST, sporty Subaru: Mostly about Wagons Toyota: See "Nissan" TVR: Inspiring Feel free to comment for opinions, correct me if I'm wrong :)
Yoga Saksono great, bro! Then IMHO, Aston Martin: European's borgeouise TVR: Classical sporty yet the current best Chevrolet: Premium sport of 'Murican Dodge: Overproud yet intimidating (prepare yourselves dear JDMs LOL) Honda: Mesmerizing quality yet affordable Toyota: Will make the user proud having JDM Subaru: The intimidator from Land of Rising Sun Nissan: Fastest from Japan Mazda: Creative, overproud, and unique (because we have rotaries and mini sport convertibles) Mitsubishi: Second intimidator from Japan, dead rival of Subaru
I would like to know what Jason page had on his head when at that time compose this beautiful melody , full of rythym and increasingly serious ! I mean, this is fucking insane.... Really... I think Jason Page is a goddamn genius .
Revisiting these in high quality, I'm inclined to agree; now I understand why these have been etched into my head. I played a ton of video games when I was little, but it's primarily these and the Crash Bandicoot 2 soundtrack which have stuck.
@@karelpipa I understood your comment and I agree with it. He had to produce the music without much time and info about the game. What I meant is that "little time" sounds like an understatement, because for a composer 2 weeks are nothing. It should be "wayyyyy too little time" His comment is somewhere here aswell, that's where I got the 2 weeks from
"Coming here to look a car that can do scandinavian flick? Might as well look for Colin McRae's autograph, welcome to Subaru!" - Subaru auto dealer salesman, 1997
I see everyone commenting that Honda theme is the one that sounds scary for people. Though I admit it is to a some level, it is kind of wow factor too. To me, Subaru theme especially at 0:18 that humming gave me chills back in the days and that was the scary part. Suits well with Impreza's angry looking headlamps. Jason Page is a genius. Every track was arranged suiting the character of the brands/cars.
I noticed it sounded very very similar so I opened the MP3 into soundforge and played it in reverse what I was hearing was the Nissan dealership song in the game :)
This song only applies to the 90s STI’s which only weighed 2750lbs. Not the 2002-2022 models which gained an additional 600lbs to 3400lbs and completely lost their purpose.
Every Single Time. Every Manufacture besides Nissan , and I liked when I made it trigger a different sounding part of the music if I clicked it too early or too late
If I want a car, I will pay for either an American, German, Japanese or British car. I won't even consider purchasing Italian. As I said, the Italians can make dinner, not cars
@Kz3andMore that's awesome! so u can listen to gt1 tunes while browsing for cars? Also, the feature about gt4 i hated most is that the game autosaves if you buy a car, does gt5 do the same thing? thanks
@evans387 yeah man its awesome, about the gt5 saving cars.. im not sure xd but what i do remember is that it was a royal kick on the b*lls everytime i buyed a car and didnt like it on gt4 xD
those dealers songs are epic
Your right
Best Music For a Racing Game Of All Time
I know right? You don't hear that in any other Gran Turismo like this.

* Looking Subarus in the local car website *
This song fits subaru's all wheel drive line up so well, the song itself just sounds like someone walking through heavy snow like a badass.
exactly my thinking for years
I can relate to that!😊
Gran Turismo 1 and this theme in particular started my passion about cars!
Yes! All the JDM themes in this game was sooooo GOATED
Character for each dealer:
Aston Martin: British
Chevrolet: Classy, American-sounding
Dodge: Classic
Honda: Mysterious (For that NSX)
Mazda: Fast, sporty
Mitsubishi: Classic, High-selling
Nissan: TOTALLY FAST, sporty
Subaru: Mostly about Wagons

Nissan: Fastest from Japan
Mazda: Creative, overproud, and unique (because we have rotaries and mini sport convertibles)
Mitsubishi: Second intimidator from Japan, dead rival of Subaru
For me
Subaru: The harmonious power of AWD and boxer engines
Subaru: Proud 4WD, boxer engines and Mitsubishi's Killer.
Mistubishi: Low cost 4WD cars, mostly.
There may have been a lot of wagons in subaru, but In my turbo charged WRX Wagon I was unstoppable.
I disagree. Id say Chevrolet is sunny and upbeat, Dodge sounds muscular
hell yeah Subaru! Gimme a Impreza Wrx Sti rally!
i am Impreza Rally Edition!
I give you ringlands failures
THIS GAME TRULY MAKE ME LOVE SUBARU ESPECIALLY IMPREZA WRX
I buy 30K and tune in up for GT Championship with outstanding grip from 4WD with 494BHP
Subaru™. Confidence In Motion. (Count on it!)

and he also got little time to do them and only a little context to the game
@@karelpipa you call 2 songs each day little time? Others needs weeks/ months for one

was never a fan of subaru's growing up, now I own an FB20 and EJ255!
back to the tune - has a nearly evil, somewhat tough feel. AWD + Turbo feels
The grip of a well tuned Subaru makes it hard for me to drive anything else. Feels like you're riding on magnets.
The Subaru dealership music is actually the "Nissan" dealership soundtrack but played in "reverse".
This shit sends tingles down my spine by how creative it was.
My favourite theme in this game
Poland Ball my is a toyota theme!
Que nostalgia !! Essa música arrepia

This Subaru theme gets my adrenaline surging every time! (Does anyone else feel the same way....?)
Always Subaru Impreza wrx type R STI 555!!!!!
Looking at buying a Subaru on Car Sales.. Will load this in the background while I search 😎
Only Subaru I own at the moment is the Rally Edition (yes, I still have the PS1 in my room, it's a gem)
I noticed it sounded very very similar so I opened the MP3 into soundforge and played it in reverse what I was hearing was the Nissan dealership song in the game :)
*SUBARU IMPREZA WRX STI WAGON VER. III*
just for your information, Subaru has opened it's new branch in Indonesia, located at Tebet (South Jakarta) 😉👍
why doesnt gt4 or gt5 have sweet music like this???
although, great song from gt4 is 'hypnosis'... check it out if you're a GT nerd like me :)
GT5 has a song called 8va curves, its so fire
GT4 and GT5 had some of the best music in the franchise. It was just in a different form.
gran turismo 4 went with the "make the songs memorable to the point where you can instantly know it from the first 4 notes of the melody"
Subaru WRX with GOLD WHEELS CHILDHOOD MEMORIES
*hears subaru dealer music* all cars in my garage are now subaru
Subaru Impreza WRX will always be my favorite car
That you for posting this! I was gonna do this aswell, but glad to see someone else has!
Cheers.
Great song as phone ring
It sounds very menacing. Especially the chords around 0:19.
Oh ! The memories....
All i can say is that Sabaru was the authority back in GT,GT2 days!
i mean the theme alone is intimidating!
yeah, its like ''I!ll crush you with my drivability anywhere''
First time i listen this. This musics feels a bit intimidating

@evans387 well u can upload music to gt5 library, i have some of the gt1 uploaded for my main menu screen :P

Every Single Time. Every Manufacture besides Nissan
, and I liked when I made it trigger a different sounding part of the music if I clicked it too early or too late
I was able to trigger the wrong part of music cause I knew the music so well
The only used car-dealership you couldn't afford anything at the beginning of the game
Most of them are 14K-15K for bargain Impreza Ver.II
Even if lucky u can afford Legacy Wagon at 9K price tag
I can hear the Funky Drummer break in this
Subaru Impreza WRX STI VERSION 5 ✌️
This song scared me as a kid.
Le premier gran turismo c'était plus pour décrire la voiture qui a la plus grosse sous le pantalon une tuerie se jeux 😍
Legacy Outback Wagon Spec B twin turbo sick as F.
Now I actually know a guy irl who has one.
They should've put these themes in gran turismo 2 instead of the generic elevator music and pairing all the dealerships into North/East/West/South
bro don't talk shit 'bout my east side.
S💫 very respectful company
subaru engine start....power 4wd
Best ost of GT 1
This song screams STI WRX with all its power
The Japanese cars in this game were unbeatable really. regardless of what anyone else could filed, the Japanese cold match it.
dodge viper would like a word.
When it comes to building cars, the Japanese know what they're doing
German and American cars are good, as are the British cars, but the Italians can make dinner, not cars
If I want a car, I will pay for either an American, German, Japanese or British car. I won't even consider purchasing Italian. As I said, the Italians can make dinner, not cars
Lamborghini started life making farming equipment, Ferraris are just petrol tanks on wheels and Ducati mainly make motorcycles
so contagious

@KaosuKaiari didnt knew that, i prefer the auto save though, if it wasnt there it would be too easy :C
suburu impreza rally edtion
+Forza Horizon Fan Est. 2000 the impreza rally edition is my favorite in my opinion but I don't blame you at all though
Picture Terry Crews from the movie White chicks dancing with his glow sticks 😂
LEGACY TOURING WAGON AND IMPRESA STI
Damn glad that played the Japanese version (not saying that this theme is no good)
Love it
Gimme That WRX Sti
why's that?
how'd you figure that out? i dont notice a similarity
the theme should be called "Head Gasket"
"Boxer Engine" is a better name.
Impreza Rally Car
Yep...despite that nissan is almost like the fastest car in the history of GT1 (lol)
Subaru Impreza WRX STI Blue Mica
it sounded creepy a bit
I Take, SUBARU ALCYONE SVX
That's Right : "Giorgetto Giugiaro"
With EZ-33 engine also boxer horizontally opposed flat-six engine. Thanks me later
