Water sheeting versus water beading - these terms are used and abused in the auto detailing industry, but what do they actually mean? Which is best for automotive paint? Do water beads just dry into water spots? Does sheeting mean a coating is hydrophilic? Is beading vs. sheeting just a matter of water velocity and volume? The answer to all of these questions is yes… and no. Watch the video to learn more!

This is a great video for me to show to customers!
Thanks for pointing out that sheeting and hydrophilic are not really synonymous. Sheeting and beading really are two types of the same thing.
Good stuff. Beading is just sexier 😂. Both have their pros and cons. Both are good options.
And after washing the car just use the garden hose put the water to the car and it sheets they won't say that haha I've been using a lot of their products and didn't really impress me 🤷🏽♂️ i went back to gyeon and car pro
Very educational. Thank you for doing this video. I have a metallic paint on a BMW. Which of the 3 remaining sheeting coatings would you recommend? Do you have any videos that demonstrate the water behavior of the sheeting coatings?
You are correct, better to have that water sheet off quickly to prevent spotting. Very important for the glass surfaces as the temps reach the summer highs. Thanks Victor for the concept discussion
How to know which product does beading or sheeting? that point is left without consideration

Very informative. Also, very well produced.
Great explanation thank you for the video
Great video! Might be helpful to describe which of the Dr. B coatings fall into either category. Appreciate all the awesome content you guys have been putting out lately.

Which one you recommend have a brand new 2023 Tahoe black which one do you recommend for protection daily driver
is colonite 925 a good sheeting option for a car?
I'm slowly getting on the sheeting train! My car holds beads for days sometimes. Looks cool but the waterspots just suck.
When it rains, it’s still going to bead up on the car wether you have a beading or sheeting product on the paint.
Very true. Ultimately a lot of it comes down to how much water is hitting the surface and how much force is behind it.
You can dry your car with a hose just as easily with a hydrophobic coating
It depends how hydrophobic the surface is, how much force is on the water and the angle of the car surface. If the hood is fairly flat, maybe sheeting is better, but if it's more curved or angled then beading likely wins.
Great vis. What coatings sheet instead of bead?
As far as Dr. Beasley's go, Nano-Resin, Nano-Resin MX and Nano LS-10 are all sheeting coatings.
Good video. I finally got the time to detail a used car I recently purchased with NSP 150 and then NSP Z1. We got our first rain last night and noticed it was beading like crazy. What do I need to apply to the car to get the sheeting?
Great question! Formula 1201 and Nano LS-10 are two "sheeting" coating options that pair well with Z1.
@@DrBeasleys Excellent...I have some 1201 at home. I didn't know I could layer 1201 on top of Z1. Thanks!
@@jonroberto5390 Jon my real world experience with 1201 LS-10 is the durability as compared to one of your resin coatings. Six months at best for 1201/LS-10. We need Jim & Dr. of Success to get us a long term "sheeting" coating. Surface Auto Detailing
I use auto gym on my car and yes it holds water beading. But a few minutes of sunshine and it vanishes with no water markings.
Try it
I absolutely hate beading products. I don't understand why every company insists on every product beading. My car is super well maintained and Coated. One rain shower per day here in South Florida and my car is absolutely trashed. I'm absolutely sick of detailing my car to have it clean for less than 48 hours. I'm about to order a bottle of LS-10. I've only found one spray product that sheets but it's $41 shipped for 16Oz. Too expensive to use after every weekly wash for me.
Hi what product is it.
@@dtail4u, Apex Re-Hydra sheet but I don't believe they're making it anymore unfortunately
Does your new Paint Hero Drying aid sheet or bead? I'm going to Apply LS-10? Is there another product other than that you recommend when drying to car? Thanks
Paint Hero is a beader! Though keep in mind it's not so much a drying aid as it is a drying protectant. It's there to lubricate your towel when going over sensitive areas that can't be dried with a blower or compressed air.
Sorry I used drying aid the wrong way. I'm looking for maring protection between my drying towels and my paint. I just ordered a bottle of Paint Hero and Bead Hero.
What Beasley product produces sheeting on matte paint surface?
Matte Paint Coating sheets very well - it's similar to Formula 1201 in its hydrophobic properties.
What causes a hood to be more beading than sheeting? Is it the individual installing the ceramic and product used or perhaps a different product being used?
Maybe Bread the sides of car and sheet the top of car
It comes down to the product being used. Some coatings are formulated specifically to produce a sheeting effect.
Nice Civic
Sheeting coatings are harder to dry. Plus you can’t blow dry the car as easy and I’ve never seen a sprinkler or rain storm produce enough water to sheet off the paint.
Is there a product that is long lasting and sheeting?
Yes - Nano-Resin MX: www.drbeasleys.com/nano-resin-mx-kit.html
Or, you wash the car in the morning or late afternoon if you're worried about washing in full sun
great info but stop yelling dude lol, cheerz
