  • Hello all, little video of changing out my dash speakers. Was actually pretty fun, even though it is a lengthy process for two simple speakers.
    Hope it helps someone out!

    Lol, lookin pretty comfortable behind the cam there. You need a tripod and some time lapse showing the work. Those are good 4x6 speakers, I sold a ton of them back in the day. Love ya bro, lookin forward to the next one.

    Doing this job right now on my 95. Nice inside winter job. Thanks for posting this. Clean looking rig you got.

      Thank you. The worst part for me was actually the bolts holding the window frame to the roll bar. If I were to do it again, I would spray some anti seize spray on them and let it sit a while.

    I think you're safe to say it's one of the hardest (maybe "involved" is a better description?) speaker swaps when it starts with the roof and windshield. I know it's a Jeep, but still.
    The speakers in my YJ look like they're 90% made of dog hair and spiders, but they work, so ima leave em for now..

    6:02 -ish the original speaker connector I like to try and keep without cutting the original wire harness. If you kno's how to solder, the new connectors for new speakers and put them on, take old connector and solder that to those new connectors and ****poof**** original to new speaks adapter! ****click****

    Hi Dave, great Video , very helpful. If you wouldn’t mind could you tell me the exact model number for your Kenwood speakers. I have a YJ and need to replace my two speakers and would like to order them. Thank you, Sam

    Hello Dave. Great video! I did the same in my YJ a while back but you nailed it. I also have a hard top but I think I'm missing something. Can you do a video on the hard top removal? thanks.

    • @DervFuel
      @DervFuel  Рік тому

      Alonso, thanks for commenting ! What do you think your missing on your hard top? or is it a step in the removal ? There is five bolts down the side of the hardtop attaching it to the top of the fender surface. And there is probably about 9 across the top of the window frame that are usually just small screws to take out. Other then that, you should just have a disconnect on the drivers side corner in the rear to detach the window wiper and defrost if it has it, for the rear window.

    F that. I installed a Klipsch THX certified audio system with subwoofer (120V) and 1000W true sine inverter on dash activated relay and 10" iPad on magnetic dash mount for less than $500 all in.on my YJ. Awesome

    About to do the same thing. Question how do you like the speaker bar. Just ordered and it waiting for delivery. Was the install hard and were you able to use the same connector if you had the older style Soundbar.

      Thanks for watching! To be honest I never installed the speaker bar, previous owner did, but it sounds fine, good with the top on, and wind drowns it out a bit with the top off !

      Hello, I am in western canada and we have a place called BC fasteners in the city I live in... so I really lucked out, they were impossible trying to find anywhere else. Went to a wrecked yj to try to get them, and they broke as well. Thanks for watching and asking, best of luck.

      Gotcha, well being from the Southern US I guess I won’t be making a visit to that store😂 may be ditching the dash speakers and building a custom box to go behind the shifter! Thanks for the reply!
