Well, better drivers nowadays can do this. 18Sound, Eminence, BMS, FaitalPro, B&C speakers and some others. It stops being special. Not no more. :-) I replaced these with RCF LF21N551, which go even further. And yes, when played in-band, I would describe it as "very, veeery baaaaad" :-D You can see my LF21N551 22Hz Video. Just one speaker, not full power, sinusoidal tone under port tuning in very compact test box, and that beast rattles the door like mad. Two of these above tuning with full power will definitely break bones and wet some pants. I am one happy camper.

He likely has it properly hi pass filtered. Keeping unwanted signal below port tuning causing over excursion( unloading). Flex and excursion seem to be the “in thing” so thats what people film. Just like this guy you cant experience a 21 inch subwoofer over a phone speaker so he has to put a beer can and a piece of paper in front of it to show action personally I think rattling beer cans and paper sounds horrible, bit again visual indication, like excursion...
Hello. There is more to it, and in some way, the opposite is true. The wavy subwoofer cone videos are caused by two effects. One is rolling shutter of the camera, and the second is good ratio between camera shutter speed and the frequency of the tone played in the woofer. I took the video in higher FPS on better camera, so the ratio of the cone movement and camera shutter is not good for that effect, and I also run low frequencies on the woofer. "The fast camera was filming a slow object here". That is not the case for many other subwoofer videos.I let it go way under tuning frequency. Two reasons: it is easier get to high excursion, and it does not ruin the house doing so with such beast. It was an excursion test, not a sound test. And while playing 10-14Hz tones, very few systems can reproduce that. I was quite surprised that it still produced some pressure, outside the port tuning that low. My drywall ceiling says NO to playing higher tones full blast. :-D
CrashPCcz big cabinets resonate lower frequency, thats why you still get something at infa sonic. I have 4x18’s in 10sqft(per driver) boxes tuned to 33hz, in my house on about 6000watts. Even with a 30hz high pass, and a Relatively high turning frequency I can play infa sonic frequencies. 10-20hz that are audible at can be felt for some distance.
@@williamkillingsworth2619 is it sealed? What hpf do you have it on? Ported boxes roll of at 24db per octave so if your box is tuned to 33, the frequency 16.5 or 17 should be around 24db softer without a high pass filter. With a high pass filter, (lets say 24db butterworth) it should probably be around 40ish db lower at 15db without room gain. With room gain you can probably get a 20db boost (AT VERY VERY VERY BEST) probably around 12db normally.
Well, four good 15"s should outdo one 21". There is just one 4.5" voice coil that can only do so much.... 4 poeces of 4"s in these 15s, no contest. The RCF LF21N551 or Eminence NSW6021, these are another beasts. I sold the RCFs and will get back to the very similar model with LaVoce, as these truly did some magic.

Heya. It always depends on ones requirements and needs. Regarding power output, this one is good for use outdoors. Regarding general suitability of the box design, it is good for both outdoors and indoors. Though the tuning is relatively high for indoor use. If you can sacrifice some performance for lower tuning and thus better response down to 25Hz, then this one is not best choice for home usage. For home cinema, you want your big subwoofer to operate well within 20-30Hz, and this one cannot do that. Otherwise it is very good, has very good and fairly deep bass, and shakes everything very well. There is still some output down to 16Hz, but very little. More is desirable.

@@Peter-ed4dp Ahoj. Už mam něco jiného. Dva 18" určitě přehrajou jeden 21", pokud jsou dost dobré. Kickbiny, to je dlouhá diskuse a vždy osobní záležitost. Pokud neni problém s transportem, tak postav nějaké horny, bassreflex není extra kopavý, ani z reproduktoru nedostane jeho maximum.

Hey. Outer dimensions are 62x64x77cm. One crazy guy can handle it and load it into the car/van, which is good. The box is tuned to 31Hz, so for notes down to 30Hz, it serves very well, and stomps like and elephant so to speak. Under 30Hz, it does something, but a lot less. Also it´s highly dependant on your room settings and box arrangement and amount of boxes. With like 4-8 pieces, it will go down to 25Hz, or at least you will feel it. Not suitable for 20Hz and gigs. I can only push it that low for home usage. For DJing, 26-28Hz is the hard stop. I don´t think that 20Hz is needed, so I would go with this "compact" modular 21" setup. It doesn´t deliver most output for the driver/size, but it does deliver great output ratio for the box size. If you are about compact setup and power output ratio, THIS IS IT. This is why I built it. Otherwise, Keystoney THs are your friend.
DJ DiY Music Really need Infrabass for DJing? For EDM I would not tune the Subwoofer lower than 35 Hertz. When going for lower Bass, you compromise sensivity, precision and end up having a larger enclosure

DJ DiY Music I can calculate something suitable for you, but the results will be mediocre if you want something loud enough for DJ usage which reaches down to 20 Hertz. I would definetly go for two different devices or compromise a bit of low end for loudness and sound quality .A good compromise should be: A B&C 21SW152 tuned to 30 Hertz should be loud enough for DJ applications and plays in that kind of enclosure fairly low for home theatre.
Fuse Agreed. I would not go under Fs of the speaker for ported enclosure, if you want to pull huge SPL out of it. So These 21" B&Cs are good for 30-35Hz tuning. Not less. It would play, but it would be too great compromise. For lower frequencies, I would recommend using smaller speakers but larger boxes. Folded horns or tapped horns. Look at BH760s. Heard stack of these, and maan, it kicked non-empty beer cups from the front benches of the stadium...
Tato konstrukce subwooferu se mi líbí.Našel jsem přesné rozměry jak pro 18 tak pro 21 a liší se délkou bassreflexů. Je velký rozdíl mezi 18 a 21 v tomto provedení. Jde mi o to jestli je opravdu ten rozdíl tak markantní že se vyplatí jít do té vetší varianty? Dokázal byste rozdíl nějak popsat a zdůvodnit proč raději 18 nebo 21? Děkuji
Má ozvučnice není z žádného plánku, navrhnul a postavil jsem si jí jako prototyp sám, než mi jí Martin Šimůnek (MS-Sound) postavil v profi provedení. Takto jak to je, velký rozdíl proti 18" nespatřuji, 21" je prostě jen vpodstatě za stejnou cenu, a dosáhne 1-2db dál. Vzhledem k ceně je to prostě výhodnější volba, nic víc, nic méně. Zvukově je rozdíl naprosto nepatrný. Tuto ozvučnici již nepoužívám, udělal jsem ještě menší, níže laděné, a jsem s nimi nanejvýš spokojený. Také asi půjdou z domu. Hodlám jít do extrému, a vyměnit to za 4x18" v totálně nesmyslně kompaktních ozvučnicích. V takovém případě naložím 4x18" do auta, na svou velikost to bude hrát hodně, a půjde to v klidu nosit v ruce. Tuto budku z videa rád dám z ruky, za velice směšnou cenu. ~ 700Kč.
It is the room. In this case, mains are 8"s half-PA creations for mixed use. But the room is boomy at 65Hz. On top of the bass boost needed for the video. You are right, the track produces 10Hz and 14Hz sinewaves, that are well below box tuning frequency, BUT... 1) The video is made to show how well the 21DS115 handles cone excursion, and 2)there is no issue to exploit speaker capabilities up to its Xmax even below tuning frequency as long as you don't go past that and overstrain the suspension. At 13-16Hz, even under port tuning, this thing still shakes the door and ceiling below Xmax. Obviously, the port is not shorted absolutely. Not what you would expect from books and literature.
@@CrashPCcz the thing I was talking about is not like 60hz or any other note or frequency, I played your recording on two Alphard subwoofers in the room and didn't hear this effect, but the headphones have it. This is probably very low infrasound... The microphone on your recording was able to pick up these frequencies and equalize the amplitude response so that they could be heard, but not every system and room will reproduce this as it is possible in headphones
I have a new Pro audio subwoofer 18" it has slapping sound when i press the dust cap while power off there is no rubbing against the coil i tried to play 5Hz in my sub and there is slapping noise but when i hold the tinsel lead the noise disappears I only here the noise when I do free air but inside the box the bass is loud and I cannot hear the possible tinsel lead slap. What should I do with my subwoofer ?
Yes, such problems are also preset with some B&C speakers and RCF drivers. I carefully solve the issue by pimping it. Where no heat is expcted, hot-glue helps. Where heat is expected, see if bending is possible in such way that it solves the problem and doesn´t create any other. If that is also not possible, then drop of silicone can help. It´s PA, no Hi-Fi, so expect such issues and help yourself. Best luck!
@@electronicbassboy5180 Bhaha, I need to add some content with new drivers. See where you go with it. Drivers can get pretty hot, so you will see if it sticks and if it´s long term reliable. If not, then transparent silicone will do too. It did for me.

Ahoj. Udělal jsem koncepčně dost jiné budky. Menší, níže laděné, se 100mm kolečky, takže dvě tyhle mršky vpoho naložim do auta velikosti Octavia ne-kombi. 💪 Jsem s nimi dost spokojený, ale RCFka jsem zatím prodal, tak tu stojí prázdné, a asi ještě chvilku budou, jestli mě nenapadne ještě něco šílenějšího. Prototyp je vidět u mého dalšího videa s RCF na 22Hz, ale už mám z MS-Sound vyrobené tovární lakované pěkné.

Hola El modelo de altavoz es B&C 21DS115. El amplificador utilizado es QSC RMX1850HD. El propósito de la prueba es mostrar la amplitud utilizable de la membrana del altavoz y la baja distorsión a alta amplitud. No es una prueba musical. El bajo que toca tiene una frecuencia de 10-14Hz. Esto no hará mucho ruido, e incluso menos lleva el micrófono de la cámara al video.

Hello. I made my own custom piece of this box to measure and tune it to it´s potential and good frequency response, then got it made properly by my friend, who does speaker boxes professionally. Do much for the looks of the box. My woodworking and painting skills are like 2 on 1-10 level... It is quite compact for 21" driver, so one crazy guy actually can move it and even put it in the car... It´s made from 15mm ply, front wall is doubled, and there is some inner bracing. Outer size: 62x64x78cm. Bassreflex triangles are 18x18cm on the short side. These go way back near the back side, leaving 13mm before reaching the back wall. The front wall with speaker spacing for a grill takes 6cm off the box volume. Usable internal volume is about 170l, and with some padding, the tuning frequency is 31Hz (goes to 32-33hz when fed with large signal). From this, you could easily reverse engineer the box. I´ve lost the original plan. Hope you get inspired or so.... :-)

hepheastusthefirst Ask right away if you need. The box is compact by measure of 21" speaker. But it is damn heavy for one ordinary guy. I can pick it and carry it around the house if I fit in the doorway, but it is bloody torture. If you make it from baltic birch or similar 18mm ply, yo´re not going to manage this weight I would guess. If you want to go most power from the smallest box, go 18DS115 in multiples. It is hell of a speaker. Basically the same as 21" with just smaller cone. So you have more newton power per square area. Build four of these, and when fed, you´ll think someone is hitting you on your head with a plank... :-D

Since I want two of them I decided to check parts express however they have only 9ne 8n stock so I am waiting till late October for them to increase stock. However, if I am going with the 18in will the measurements for both in and out still be the same or will be smaller. Also did you use any damping material in the box and what amplifier are you using to power it cause I was thinking of using the Behringer Nu6000. What you think

Hello. I do not have direct comparison, but I can extrapolate based on experience and differences of the speaker. Outcome of any potential comparison would depend on the comparison you do. Those speakers are in fact toe-to-toe, neck-and-neck close brothers and competitors. They should behave more similarly than differently, bringing you similar output, if you handle them properly. Only in extreme conditions, their different construction and nature would reveal some differences. I believe that 21SW152 is made with torture in mind. Its large 6” copper voice coil should withstand more heat, the motor pumps more air to cool it down, so if you are about to run your subs really hot and hard, 21SW152 will give you the last decibel of long-term abuse in a safer manner. It is hardcore PA speaker prepared for some WAR outside. 21DS115 on the other hand, has its advantages too. It has very similar coil area in spite of smaller coil diameter, possibly larger coil volume and mass, so it mostly keeps up. The motor is significantly stronger, so the power input and heat resistance deficiency of the coil is pushed back with more efficiency. You do not need to push that much power to the speaker, to get to the same performance. 21DS115 has longer voice coil and thicker pole piece. This should mean more cone excursion available with less distortion. It should be better option if you feed “sensible” program content to the speaker, and you really want to dig some sub material with your speaker. It should provide you with more performance per watt, while 21SW152 will eat more watts.
@@Violentbassonly160 Thanks for response and appreciation. There is way more to it on the amplifier side though. These beasty and efficient speakers are hard to drive in a conventional way. You need amp with larger voltage swing capability and at best SMPS+PFC+D-Class for significantly less heat and more system efficiency.
Well, that might depend on your particular application. But 18SW115 is mightier speaker. Larger voice coil, and more cone displacement. That usually leads to more output. Especially when your amplifier can supply 2-3kw to the speaker.
Hi. Can you elaborate about the division? Anyways, yes, I am very aware of many possibilities to dig out much more potential and output from this speaker. But it usually comes at a cost. Size, volume and weight. I do not have these bins anymore, also selling speakers. Now I have even badder beasts from RCF in smaller bins, as I'm all about power density, not just about maximum output ot maximum efficiency.
I'm clueless, ready to get r/wooshed. What directions sir? More coming though. I now have two pieces, and woodwork/paint is done for two nice, even more compact bins. Measurements ended up good too. I'm super excited to finish these.

@@jevchance Well, if it was tuned at 10Hz, the box would be designed for it. :-) It was handling the track because the power input was properly set and limited. If I would push full power from the amplifier to the driver, it would not be a happy camper... As mentioned in description, the intention of this video was to show how this particular driver behaves at Xmax. Admirably...
@@CrashPCcz Yeah seems to do pretty well. I'm budget-limited to PA-460s but they handle it pretty well as well. This song is a great demo song, sub-audible bass does some whacky things. You can barely hear it, but if I go upstairs it shakes the entire upper floor of my house! Cheers.
@@klint6448 ibb.co/QCsB5n1 The front wall is 18mm, other walls 15mm. Bracing is very recommended, especially for the back wall. No details were drawn, the guy did that for me "on the fly". The ports should be rounded a bit to not wheeze too soon under power.
Ahoj. Teď mám speciální podladěný bassreflex. Asi 130l vnitřního objemu, 28-29Hz, rozměry 58*58*75cm i s 10cm kolečky. Velmi kompaktní box na 21“. Mám to osazené bestiema RCF LF21N551. Můžu zaslat plánky a obrázky někm.
It very well depends on the box and usage, and on the measurement technigue/setup/interpretation. Absolute maximum in my setup woud probably be 137dB. In reality, most of the time, it will hang around 131dB.

Hello. My original 18" version with 18SW115 and now 21" version with 21DS115 was a real prototype, measured with real speakers and tuned till it didn´t satisfy my needs. I don´t have 15" model available to me, so the plan would be just wild guessing. I don´t recommending going that way...
И в чем смысл делать настройку 30Гц, а запускать в саб 15?! Вот так динамики и убиваются, там же нет контроля со стороны корпуса, стукнет катушкой и поминай как звали!
Этот динамик не может поразить катушку. Современные "B & C Speakers" созданы таким образом. Люди приходят сюда, чтобы увидеть «движение сабвуфера», но причина этого видео в другом. Динамик получил достаточно мощности, чтобы достичь Xmax, не более. Спасибо за комментарий. Вы были бы правы в общем.
@@CrashPCcz Обычно ПРО-динамики не имеют запаса "на дурака", и рассчитаны четко под задачи, в отличии от домашних, где и зазоры больше, и запас больше, однако все это приводит к снижению чувствительности и отдачи, просто хотел, чтоб вы были аккуратнее, жалко будет убить такой саб! Всего хорошего!
Делал такой-же короб эксперементным путем понял что вырезать надо только один из четырёх уголков а здесь с четыре угла отрезаны давления нет динамик можно повредить он болтается а не создаёт давление
1 из четырёх потому, что добротность у динамика высокая, по сравнению с его площадью вам хватило и 1 угла, общая площадь порта определяется по большей частью добротностью, у дина на видео она очень низкая, потому и порт имеет большую площадь, иначе он бы либо свистел, либо просто болтался там

Ahoj. To záleží podle potřeb a použití. Dá se říci, že nikoli. Je potřeba pochopit, že větší dostupná výchylka a silnější pohon 21DS115 nemůže bránit použití v bassreflexu, pokud si s tím zbytek aparátu umí poradit. Co dnes ukazují simulátory ozvučnic značíná být irelevantní. Mezitím jsem dal své dva kusy do jiných, ještě kompaktnějších beden, a pracuje to vítečně. Už sestrojuji plán na výměnu za 4ks 18DS115.

30,7inch deep. Look up "High order quarterwave society" facebook group, and their PARAFLEX designs (C2, C2-D and more). If you have room for that, it is most modern and efficient design. Cheers.
This is a bad design, or you had the Bass levels way too high. Too much movement on that speaker and not enough sound coming from it. Placing the Can or Paper will obviously have the same effect, but place the can 5 feet away and let it rumble!!!
No sh sherlock 😁. It was 10 and 14Hz, and it was not a sound test. I tested that for some forum colleagues to show how it behaves in large excursions. No other reason. In usable frequency range, I cannot afford to crank it up inside, my drywall ceiling develops some cracks in it fast when I do that. I have new pair of bins for these. New video coming soon. More compact and better ergonomics...
herban30 V jistých věcech to musí být nemlich to samé, protože ty reproduktory jsou cca stejně silné. Rozdíl asi bude v použití. Já to ladil níž nadoma, a o nějaké drobné větší Xmax to dovoluje, naopak 21SW152 laděné výš bude mít navrch v SPL. obojí ale jen o kousek. Mno ta kapesní záležitost mě láká, přemýšlím i o 8x12".

Přemýšlel jsem i o kompaktních Tapped horničkách ve smečce několika kusů kvůli mobilitě. No, čas ukáže. Každopádně audiošílenství zdar. Projedu si všechny Vaše vidka....
herban30 B&C Xmax nijak neměří. Měří se Xvar, kde je jedna zajímavost. 21SW152 s cívkou dlouhou 30mm a pólovým nástavcem 12mm už při oné výchylce nemá magnetickou mezeru ani z půlky "obsazenou" cívkou reproduktoru. 66% mezery nemá cívku nadosah. U 21DS115 s cívkou 36mm a mezerou 14mm je to skoro naopak. 60% magnetické mezery má cívku vevnitř. Je tedy nad slunce jasné, že věci se v tomhle ohledu musi mít jinak, a bohužel to u mě v&C vzbuzuje pochybnost. Tak nebo tak, kdybych s tím hrál venku na PA, jednoznačně beru 21SW152 kvůli lepší zatižitelnosti.
Xdamage je u těchto reproduktorů bezpředmětná záležitost ze dvou důvodů - při takové výchylce je cívka úplně mimo magnetickou mezeru, takže tam dochází už vpodstatě jen k dobržďování kinetické energie "volně letícího" kmitacího systému, a druhý důvod je, že Moderní reproduktory B&C NEJDE krátkodobým přetížením výchylkou zničit. Spider tak daleko nepovolí. Vyzkoušeno. Mě šlo o lineární režim výchylky, kdy je zkreslení natolik malé, že to ještě není slyšet. B&C uvádí parametr Xvar, který by měl naznačovat, že v této výchylce je zavěšení dvakrát tužší než v klidovém stavu, nebo magnetická síla o půlku slabší (nebo obojí). Jenže když je cívka ze 66% venku, tak to u 21SW152 nesedí, a tak mě zajímá, jak to s námi hoši z B&C mysleli. Je nad slunce jasné, že o šest milimetrů delší cívka a tlustší pólový nástavec musí mít ve výchylce nějaké výhody. Stejně tak celoměděná 6" cívka musí mít své výhody proti hliníkové 4,5"....
It's not just for you, and that's completely fine. I see what you mean and don't exactly enjoy the acoustical part of that. But it's rather a visual one, showing what effects the speaker has on its surroundings. Some people don't look at certain specs too much. I had many people - even buyers of these speakers - drop their jaws when they saw how much can modern PA speaker move. They were sold on that. This very stupid "show" put $800 in my pocket. I am completely fine with that.
Hey. Hope you like yours. I also like RCF. It´s just that it isn´t better all the time when subjected to head-to-head money and value wise comparison. For the price of 21DS115, the competition is weak. I would like 21N551 more than BC, it really IS better speaker, but for like 60% higher price in our country. That way, I can compare 21IPAL with it too, and it will trash the RCF all day long. I really depends on ones needs, purpose, value, and so on. The BC here fit in the 170l box and works nice in there down to 30Hz, for quite little money. I wonder if they start to make affordable long throw 15"s, so it will be easy to load them up into the car. Bunch of four could overpower the 21" easily, and so light, that you would be happy to take these with you on every small celebration/gig/party...
just wanted to add that b&c provides their new 18DS115 for l'acoustics new KS28 sub. rcf plays in the middle class of speakers while b&c ciare and phl plays in the upper class

На концертах сабы так низко не играют и бъют басами в тело на расстоянии. Даже мой профессиональный саб сильнее давит и он 15 дюймов в данном сравнении как на видео. Но там корпус грамотный(рупор+фазоинвертор) не то что тут обычный фазоинвертор. Я свою колонку в магазине включал так аж в тело басами било а тут? Ты в маленькой комнате спокойно сидишь, да уж. Я у себя дома негромко включаю так стеклопакеты дребезжат. B&C крутая фирма, не нужно давать на этот дин сигнал 30Гц а дай обычные песни дабстеп(там низа много) и частота будет повыше и звуковое давление повысится. У меня динамики от Eminence. Сейчас нравится динамик на 15 KAPPALITE™ 3015LF он в рупоре и 2 порта для выхода воздуха. Нет такой как на видео пустоты в звуке. Там бас аж волосы на ногах чувствуют на расстоянии 2 метра и это обычно колонка играет, для дома не громко даже.

Hello. I now see your responses accidentally, because I go through comments manually. Did not see it before. What a shame. It depends on your subwoofer model and type, or design. There is not much to do with these speakers. Maybe 85Hz crossover point would be better. You need to test it and decide either by ears, or measurement microphone. Your system is good, if you like it bass heavy. Those 21“s are strong, you might consider stronger tops.

Hey. Glad you like my video! :-D The crossover was an in-PC DSP, and works fine. Sure, I was presenting just the driver and its long-excursion behavior, never SPL capabilities, which is probably what you want. At 10 and 14Hz produced by the track, nobody will get demolition from any 18" or 21" speaker in ported box, not even RCF TTS56. I had an opportunity to hear multiple TTS56s, and to me they sound blunt, rubbery and slow. Not much of a kick present. Also, you are comparing subwoofer with double the drivers, that is 3x as much heavy, and more than double the volume. If it didn´t play better, it would be utter shame for TEN TIMES HIGHER PRICE. They claim they use 4,5" coil drivers. If these are in-house built too, it must be LF21N451 or a modification of it. Guess what. It has less motor force and less linear excursion capabilities than 21DS115. Anyways, I moved to even more compact, very unconventional design, and upgraded to RCF LF21N551 drivers. Sometimes, I need to post a video of these, and show on normal music content, what these can do.
Welp, 14Hz tone and 25Hz video doesn´t combine exactly well for showing smooth movement. Also on my phone it lags even more. Other than that, It was the test to push the driver on or beyond maximum usable cone excursion, while the driver still behaves nice regarding "working and stress noises". Nothing more to see in that vid.
It was recorded by poor mic in the camera, which doesn't catch 14Hz well. But when I turn up this recording up, it still vibrates the room a bit. I guess your sound system is not capable of playing that, if you hear nothing at all, regarding bass...
No wonder we are obsessed with subwoofers, they resemble boobs, shake, paper movers and put smiles on all our faces. God Bless the Subwoofer!

Well, better drivers nowadays can do this. 18Sound, Eminence, BMS, FaitalPro, B&C speakers and some others. It stops being special. Not no more. :-) I replaced these with RCF LF21N551, which go even further. And yes, when played in-band, I would describe it as "very, veeery baaaaad" :-D You can see my LF21N551 22Hz Video. Just one speaker, not full power, sinusoidal tone under port tuning in very compact test box, and that beast rattles the door like mad. Two of these above tuning with full power will definitely break bones and wet some pants. I am one happy camper.

B&C makes a mean driver, particularly the neo mag ones.
The ecursion step looks well controlled, unlike a car subwoofer which is slow and loses control.
He likely has it properly hi pass filtered. Keeping unwanted signal below port tuning causing over excursion( unloading). Flex and excursion seem to be the “in thing” so thats what people film.
Just like this guy you cant experience a 21 inch subwoofer over a phone speaker so he has to put a beer can and a piece of paper in front of it to show action
personally I think rattling beer cans and paper sounds horrible, bit again visual indication, like excursion...
Hello. There is more to it, and in some way, the opposite is true. The wavy subwoofer cone videos are caused by two effects. One is rolling shutter of the camera, and the second is good ratio between camera shutter speed and the frequency of the tone played in the woofer. I took the video in higher FPS on better camera, so the ratio of the cone movement and camera shutter is not good for that effect, and I also run low frequencies on the woofer. "The fast camera was filming a slow object here". That is not the case for many other subwoofer videos.I let it go way under tuning frequency. Two reasons: it is easier get to high excursion, and it does not ruin the house doing so with such beast. It was an excursion test, not a sound test. And while playing 10-14Hz tones, very few systems can reproduce that. I was quite surprised that it still produced some pressure, outside the port tuning that low. My drywall ceiling says NO to playing higher tones full blast. :-D
CrashPCcz big cabinets resonate lower frequency, thats why you still get something at infa sonic. I have 4x18’s in 10sqft(per driver) boxes tuned to 33hz, in my house on about 6000watts. Even with a 30hz high pass, and a Relatively high turning frequency I can play infa sonic frequencies. 10-20hz that are audible at can be felt for some distance.

@@williamkillingsworth2619 is it sealed? What hpf do you have it on? Ported boxes roll of at 24db per octave so if your box is tuned to 33, the frequency 16.5 or 17 should be around 24db softer without a high pass filter. With a high pass filter, (lets say 24db butterworth) it should probably be around 40ish db lower at 15db without room gain. With room gain you can probably get a 20db boost (AT VERY VERY VERY BEST) probably around 12db normally.

Well, four good 15"s should outdo one 21". There is just one 4.5" voice coil that can only do so much.... 4 poeces of 4"s in these 15s, no contest. The RCF LF21N551 or Eminence NSW6021, these are another beasts. I sold the RCFs and will get back to the very similar model with LaVoce, as these truly did some magic.

Heya. It always depends on ones requirements and needs. Regarding power output, this one is good for use outdoors. Regarding general suitability of the box design, it is good for both outdoors and indoors. Though the tuning is relatively high for indoor use. If you can sacrifice some performance for lower tuning and thus better response down to 25Hz, then this one is not best choice for home usage. For home cinema, you want your big subwoofer to operate well within 20-30Hz, and this one cannot do that. Otherwise it is very good, has very good and fairly deep bass, and shakes everything very well. There is still some output down to 16Hz, but very little. More is desirable.

@@Peter-ed4dp Ahoj. Už mam něco jiného. Dva 18" určitě přehrajou jeden 21", pokud jsou dost dobré. Kickbiny, to je dlouhá diskuse a vždy osobní záležitost. Pokud neni problém s transportem, tak postav nějaké horny, bassreflex není extra kopavý, ani z reproduktoru nedostane jeho maximum.

It was ordinary bassreflex box. It's just the driver working all that well. It seems I am changing for herd of 18DS115s for more power density.

Hey. Outer dimensions are 62x64x77cm. One crazy guy can handle it and load it into the car/van, which is good. The box is tuned to 31Hz, so for notes down to 30Hz, it serves very well, and stomps like and elephant so to speak. Under 30Hz, it does something, but a lot less. Also it´s highly dependant on your room settings and box arrangement and amount of boxes. With like 4-8 pieces, it will go down to 25Hz, or at least you will feel it. Not suitable for 20Hz and gigs. I can only push it that low for home usage. For DJing, 26-28Hz is the hard stop. I don´t think that 20Hz is needed, so I would go with this "compact" modular 21" setup. It doesn´t deliver most output for the driver/size, but it does deliver great output ratio for the box size. If you are about compact setup and power output ratio, THIS IS IT. This is why I built it. Otherwise, Keystoney THs are your friend.
DJ DiY Music Really need Infrabass for DJing? For EDM I would not tune the Subwoofer lower than 35 Hertz. When going for lower Bass, you compromise sensivity, precision and end up having a larger enclosure

DJ DiY Music I can calculate something suitable for you, but the results will be mediocre if you want something loud enough for DJ usage which reaches down to 20 Hertz. I would definetly go for two different devices or compromise a bit of low end for loudness and sound quality .A good compromise should be: A B&C 21SW152 tuned to 30 Hertz should be loud enough for DJ applications and plays in that kind of enclosure fairly low for home theatre.
Fuse Agreed. I would not go under Fs of the speaker for ported enclosure, if you want to pull huge SPL out of it. So These 21" B&Cs are good for 30-35Hz tuning. Not less. It would play, but it would be too great compromise. For lower frequencies, I would recommend using smaller speakers but larger boxes. Folded horns or tapped horns. Look at BH760s. Heard stack of these, and maan, it kicked non-empty beer cups from the front benches of the stadium...
Tato konstrukce subwooferu se mi líbí.Našel jsem přesné rozměry jak pro 18 tak pro 21 a liší se délkou bassreflexů. Je velký rozdíl mezi 18 a 21 v tomto provedení. Jde mi o to jestli je opravdu ten rozdíl tak markantní že se vyplatí jít do té vetší varianty? Dokázal byste rozdíl nějak popsat a zdůvodnit proč raději 18 nebo 21? Děkuji
Má ozvučnice není z žádného plánku, navrhnul a postavil jsem si jí jako prototyp sám, než mi jí Martin Šimůnek (MS-Sound) postavil v profi provedení. Takto jak to je, velký rozdíl proti 18" nespatřuji, 21" je prostě jen vpodstatě za stejnou cenu, a dosáhne 1-2db dál. Vzhledem k ceně je to prostě výhodnější volba, nic víc, nic méně. Zvukově je rozdíl naprosto nepatrný. Tuto ozvučnici již nepoužívám, udělal jsem ještě menší, níže laděné, a jsem s nimi nanejvýš spokojený. Také asi půjdou z domu. Hodlám jít do extrému, a vyměnit to za 4x18" v totálně nesmyslně kompaktních ozvučnicích. V takovém případě naložím 4x18" do auta, na svou velikost to bude hrát hodně, a půjde to v klidu nosit v ruce. Tuto budku z videa rád dám z ruky, za velice směšnou cenu. ~ 700Kč.

It is the room. In this case, mains are 8"s half-PA creations for mixed use. But the room is boomy at 65Hz. On top of the bass boost needed for the video. You are right, the track produces 10Hz and 14Hz sinewaves, that are well below box tuning frequency, BUT... 1) The video is made to show how well the 21DS115 handles cone excursion, and 2)there is no issue to exploit speaker capabilities up to its Xmax even below tuning frequency as long as you don't go past that and overstrain the suspension. At 13-16Hz, even under port tuning, this thing still shakes the door and ceiling below Xmax. Obviously, the port is not shorted absolutely. Not what you would expect from books and literature.
@@CrashPCcz the thing I was talking about is not like 60hz or any other note or frequency, I played your recording on two Alphard subwoofers in the room and didn't hear this effect, but the headphones have it. This is probably very low infrasound... The microphone on your recording was able to pick up these frequencies and equalize the amplitude response so that they could be heard, but not every system and room will reproduce this as it is possible in headphones

I have a new Pro audio subwoofer 18" it has slapping sound when i press the dust cap while power off there is no rubbing against the coil i tried to play 5Hz in my sub and there is slapping noise but when i hold the tinsel lead the noise disappears I only here the noise when I do free air but inside the box the bass is loud and I cannot hear the possible tinsel lead slap. What should I do with my subwoofer ?
Yes, such problems are also preset with some B&C speakers and RCF drivers. I carefully solve the issue by pimping it. Where no heat is expcted, hot-glue helps. Where heat is expected, see if bending is possible in such way that it solves the problem and doesn´t create any other. If that is also not possible, then drop of silicone can help. It´s PA, no Hi-Fi, so expect such issues and help yourself. Best luck!

Ahoj. Udělal jsem koncepčně dost jiné budky. Menší, níže laděné, se 100mm kolečky, takže dvě tyhle mršky vpoho naložim do auta velikosti Octavia ne-kombi. 💪 Jsem s nimi dost spokojený, ale RCFka jsem zatím prodal, tak tu stojí prázdné, a asi ještě chvilku budou, jestli mě nenapadne ještě něco šílenějšího. Prototyp je vidět u mého dalšího videa s RCF na 22Hz, ale už mám z MS-Sound vyrobené tovární lakované pěkné.

Hola El modelo de altavoz es B&C 21DS115. El amplificador utilizado es QSC RMX1850HD. El propósito de la prueba es mostrar la amplitud utilizable de la membrana del altavoz y la baja distorsión a alta amplitud. No es una prueba musical. El bajo que toca tiene una frecuencia de 10-14Hz. Esto no hará mucho ruido, e incluso menos lleva el micrófono de la cámara al video.

Hello. I made my own custom piece of this box to measure and tune it to it´s potential and good frequency response, then got it made properly by my friend, who does speaker boxes professionally. Do much for the looks of the box. My woodworking and painting skills are like 2 on 1-10 level... It is quite compact for 21" driver, so one crazy guy actually can move it and even put it in the car... It´s made from 15mm ply, front wall is doubled, and there is some inner bracing. Outer size: 62x64x78cm. Bassreflex triangles are 18x18cm on the short side. These go way back near the back side, leaving 13mm before reaching the back wall. The front wall with speaker spacing for a grill takes 6cm off the box volume. Usable internal volume is about 170l, and with some padding, the tuning frequency is 31Hz (goes to 32-33hz when fed with large signal). From this, you could easily reverse engineer the box. I´ve lost the original plan. Hope you get inspired or so.... :-)

hepheastusthefirst Ask right away if you need. The box is compact by measure of 21" speaker. But it is damn heavy for one ordinary guy. I can pick it and carry it around the house if I fit in the doorway, but it is bloody torture. If you make it from baltic birch or similar 18mm ply, yo´re not going to manage this weight I would guess. If you want to go most power from the smallest box, go 18DS115 in multiples. It is hell of a speaker. Basically the same as 21" with just smaller cone. So you have more newton power per square area. Build four of these, and when fed, you´ll think someone is hitting you on your head with a plank... :-D

Since I want two of them I decided to check parts express however they have only 9ne 8n stock so I am waiting till late October for them to increase stock. However, if I am going with the 18in will the measurements for both in and out still be the same or will be smaller. Also did you use any damping material in the box and what amplifier are you using to power it cause I was thinking of using the Behringer Nu6000. What you think

I do not have direct comparison, but I can extrapolate based on experience and differences of the speaker.
Outcome of any potential comparison would depend on the comparison you do. Those speakers are in fact toe-to-toe, neck-and-neck close brothers and competitors. They should behave more similarly than differently, bringing you similar output, if you handle them properly.
Only in extreme conditions, their different construction and nature would reveal some differences.
I believe that 21SW152 is made with torture in mind. Its large 6” copper voice coil should withstand more heat, the motor pumps more air to cool it down, so if you are about to run your subs really hot and hard, 21SW152 will give you the last decibel of long-term abuse in a safer manner. It is hardcore PA speaker prepared for some WAR outside.
21DS115 on the other hand, has its advantages too. It has very similar coil area in spite of smaller coil diameter, possibly larger coil volume and mass, so it mostly keeps up. The motor is significantly stronger, so the power input and heat resistance deficiency of the coil is pushed back with more efficiency. You do not need to push that much power to the speaker, to get to the same performance.
21DS115 has longer voice coil and thicker pole piece. This should mean more cone excursion available with less distortion. It should be better option if you feed “sensible” program content to the speaker, and you really want to dig some sub material with your speaker. It should provide you with more performance per watt, while 21SW152 will eat more watts.

You need amp with larger voltage swing capability and at best SMPS+PFC+D-Class for significantly less heat and more system efficiency.

Well, that might depend on your particular application. But 18SW115 is mightier speaker. Larger voice coil, and more cone displacement. That usually leads to more output. Especially when your amplifier can supply 2-3kw to the speaker.

Hi. Can you elaborate about the division? Anyways, yes, I am very aware of many possibilities to dig out much more potential and output from this speaker. But it usually comes at a cost. Size, volume and weight. I do not have these bins anymore, also selling speakers. Now I have even badder beasts from RCF in smaller bins, as I'm all about power density, not just about maximum output ot maximum efficiency.

@@jevchance Well, if it was tuned at 10Hz, the box would be designed for it. :-) It was handling the track because the power input was properly set and limited. If I would push full power from the amplifier to the driver, it would not be a happy camper... As mentioned in description, the intention of this video was to show how this particular driver behaves at Xmax. Admirably...
@@CrashPCcz Yeah seems to do pretty well. I'm budget-limited to PA-460s but they handle it pretty well as well. This song is a great demo song, sub-audible bass does some whacky things. You can barely hear it, but if I go upstairs it shakes the entire upper floor of my house! Cheers.

@@klint6448 ibb.co/QCsB5n1 The front wall is 18mm, other walls 15mm. Bracing is very recommended, especially for the back wall. No details were drawn, the guy did that for me "on the fly". The ports should be rounded a bit to not wheeze too soon under power.

Ahoj. Teď mám speciální podladěný bassreflex. Asi 130l vnitřního objemu, 28-29Hz, rozměry 58*58*75cm i s 10cm kolečky. Velmi kompaktní box na 21“. Mám to osazené bestiema RCF LF21N551. Můžu zaslat plánky a obrázky někm.

It very well depends on the box and usage, and on the measurement technigue/setup/interpretation. Absolute maximum in my setup woud probably be 137dB. In reality, most of the time, it will hang around 131dB.

Hello. My original 18" version with 18SW115 and now 21" version with 21DS115 was a real prototype, measured with real speakers and tuned till it didn´t satisfy my needs. I don´t have 15" model available to me, so the plan would be just wild guessing. I don´t recommending going that way...

Этот динамик не может поразить катушку. Современные "B & C Speakers" созданы таким образом. Люди приходят сюда, чтобы увидеть «движение сабвуфера», но причина этого видео в другом. Динамик получил достаточно мощности, чтобы достичь Xmax, не более. Спасибо за комментарий. Вы были бы правы в общем.
@@CrashPCcz Обычно ПРО-динамики не имеют запаса "на дурака", и рассчитаны четко под задачи, в отличии от домашних, где и зазоры больше, и запас больше, однако все это приводит к снижению чувствительности и отдачи, просто хотел, чтоб вы были аккуратнее, жалко будет убить такой саб! Всего хорошего!

Делал такой-же короб эксперементным путем понял что вырезать надо только один из четырёх уголков а здесь с четыре угла отрезаны давления нет динамик можно повредить он болтается а не создаёт давление
1 из четырёх потому, что добротность у динамика высокая, по сравнению с его площадью вам хватило и 1 угла, общая площадь порта определяется по большей частью добротностью, у дина на видео она очень низкая, потому и порт имеет большую площадь, иначе он бы либо свистел, либо просто болтался там

Ahoj. To záleží podle potřeb a použití. Dá se říci, že nikoli. Je potřeba pochopit, že větší dostupná výchylka a silnější pohon 21DS115 nemůže bránit použití v bassreflexu, pokud si s tím zbytek aparátu umí poradit. Co dnes ukazují simulátory ozvučnic značíná být irelevantní. Mezitím jsem dal své dva kusy do jiných, ještě kompaktnějších beden, a pracuje to vítečně. Už sestrojuji plán na výměnu za 4ks 18DS115.

30,7inch deep. Look up "High order quarterwave society" facebook group, and their PARAFLEX designs (C2, C2-D and more). If you have room for that, it is most modern and efficient design. Cheers.

This is a bad design, or you had the Bass levels way too high. Too much movement on that speaker and not enough sound coming from it. Placing the Can or Paper will obviously have the same effect, but place the can 5 feet away and let it rumble!!!
No sh sherlock 😁. It was 10 and 14Hz, and it was not a sound test. I tested that for some forum colleagues to show how it behaves in large excursions. No other reason. In usable frequency range, I cannot afford to crank it up inside, my drywall ceiling develops some cracks in it fast when I do that. I have new pair of bins for these. New video coming soon. More compact and better ergonomics...

herban30 V jistých věcech to musí být nemlich to samé, protože ty reproduktory jsou cca stejně silné. Rozdíl asi bude v použití. Já to ladil níž nadoma, a o nějaké drobné větší Xmax to dovoluje, naopak 21SW152 laděné výš bude mít navrch v SPL. obojí ale jen o kousek. Mno ta kapesní záležitost mě láká, přemýšlím i o 8x12".

Přemýšlel jsem i o kompaktních Tapped horničkách ve smečce několika kusů kvůli mobilitě. No, čas ukáže. Každopádně audiošílenství zdar. Projedu si všechny Vaše vidka....

herban30 B&C Xmax nijak neměří. Měří se Xvar, kde je jedna zajímavost. 21SW152 s cívkou dlouhou 30mm a pólovým nástavcem 12mm už při oné výchylce nemá magnetickou mezeru ani z půlky "obsazenou" cívkou reproduktoru. 66% mezery nemá cívku nadosah. U 21DS115 s cívkou 36mm a mezerou 14mm je to skoro naopak. 60% magnetické mezery má cívku vevnitř. Je tedy nad slunce jasné, že věci se v tomhle ohledu musi mít jinak, a bohužel to u mě v&C vzbuzuje pochybnost. Tak nebo tak, kdybych s tím hrál venku na PA, jednoznačně beru 21SW152 kvůli lepší zatižitelnosti.

Xdamage je u těchto reproduktorů bezpředmětná záležitost ze dvou důvodů - při takové výchylce je cívka úplně mimo magnetickou mezeru, takže tam dochází už vpodstatě jen k dobržďování kinetické energie "volně letícího" kmitacího systému, a druhý důvod je, že Moderní reproduktory B&C NEJDE krátkodobým přetížením výchylkou zničit. Spider tak daleko nepovolí. Vyzkoušeno. Mě šlo o lineární režim výchylky, kdy je zkreslení natolik malé, že to ještě není slyšet. B&C uvádí parametr Xvar, který by měl naznačovat, že v této výchylce je zavěšení dvakrát tužší než v klidovém stavu, nebo magnetická síla o půlku slabší (nebo obojí). Jenže když je cívka ze 66% venku, tak to u 21SW152 nesedí, a tak mě zajímá, jak to s námi hoši z B&C mysleli. Je nad slunce jasné, že o šest milimetrů delší cívka a tlustší pólový nástavec musí mít ve výchylce nějaké výhody. Stejně tak celoměděná 6" cívka musí mít své výhody proti hliníkové 4,5"....

It's not just for you, and that's completely fine. I see what you mean and don't exactly enjoy the acoustical part of that. But it's rather a visual one, showing what effects the speaker has on its surroundings. Some people don't look at certain specs too much. I had many people - even buyers of these speakers - drop their jaws when they saw how much can modern PA speaker move. They were sold on that. This very stupid "show" put $800 in my pocket. I am completely fine with that.

Hey. Hope you like yours. I also like RCF. It´s just that it isn´t better all the time when subjected to head-to-head money and value wise comparison. For the price of 21DS115, the competition is weak. I would like 21N551 more than BC, it really IS better speaker, but for like 60% higher price in our country. That way, I can compare 21IPAL with it too, and it will trash the RCF all day long. I really depends on ones needs, purpose, value, and so on. The BC here fit in the 170l box and works nice in there down to 30Hz, for quite little money. I wonder if they start to make affordable long throw 15"s, so it will be easy to load them up into the car. Bunch of four could overpower the 21" easily, and so light, that you would be happy to take these with you on every small celebration/gig/party...
just wanted to add that b&c provides their new 18DS115 for l'acoustics new KS28 sub. rcf plays in the middle class of speakers while b&c ciare and phl plays in the upper class

Tienes razón. Hay dos razones para ello. En primer lugar, el puerto aún no está muy activo a 14 Hz. Estaba sintonizado a 34 Hz, por lo que tendría que acercarse a esa frecuencia. Segundo: el área del puerto es grande, por lo que hay menos flujo de aire (menos pérdidas de sonido). Tengo cajas nuevas y más compactas para estos, y succionan la lata hacia la rejilla frontal y luego la patean. 🤣

@@CrashPCcz Хороший саб и не должен играть ниже 30, даже 40гц по -3дб это отличный саб. Запомни чем ниже частота тем как правило ниже звуковое давление. На концертах сабы так низко не играют и бъют басами в тело на расстоянии. Даже мой профессиональный саб сильнее давит и он 15 дюймов в данном сравнении как на видео. Но там корпус грамотный(рупор+фазоинвертор) не то что тут обычный фазоинвертор. Я свою колонку в магазине включал так аж в тело басами било а тут? Ты в маленькой комнате спокойно сидишь, да уж. Я у себя дома негромко включаю так стеклопакеты дребезжат. B&C крутая фирма, не нужно давать на этот дин сигнал 30Гц а дай обычные песни дабстеп(там низа много) и частота будет повыше и звуковое давление повысится. У меня динамики от Eminence. Сейчас нравится динамик на 15 KAPPALITE™ 3015LF он в рупоре и 2 порта для выхода воздуха. Нет такой как на видео пустоты в звуке. Там бас аж волосы на ногах чувствуют на расстоянии 2 метра и это обычно колонка играет, для дома не громко даже.

Hello. I now see your responses accidentally, because I go through comments manually. Did not see it before. What a shame. It depends on your subwoofer model and type, or design. There is not much to do with these speakers. Maybe 85Hz crossover point would be better. You need to test it and decide either by ears, or measurement microphone. Your system is good, if you like it bass heavy. Those 21“s are strong, you might consider stronger tops.

Hey. Glad you like my video! :-D The crossover was an in-PC DSP, and works fine. Sure, I was presenting just the driver and its long-excursion behavior, never SPL capabilities, which is probably what you want. At 10 and 14Hz produced by the track, nobody will get demolition from any 18" or 21" speaker in ported box, not even RCF TTS56. I had an opportunity to hear multiple TTS56s, and to me they sound blunt, rubbery and slow. Not much of a kick present. Also, you are comparing subwoofer with double the drivers, that is 3x as much heavy, and more than double the volume. If it didn´t play better, it would be utter shame for TEN TIMES HIGHER PRICE. They claim they use 4,5" coil drivers. If these are in-house built too, it must be LF21N451 or a modification of it. Guess what. It has less motor force and less linear excursion capabilities than 21DS115. Anyways, I moved to even more compact, very unconventional design, and upgraded to RCF LF21N551 drivers. Sometimes, I need to post a video of these, and show on normal music content, what these can do.

Welp, 14Hz tone and 25Hz video doesn´t combine exactly well for showing smooth movement. Also on my phone it lags even more. Other than that, It was the test to push the driver on or beyond maximum usable cone excursion, while the driver still behaves nice regarding "working and stress noises". Nothing more to see in that vid.

It was recorded by poor mic in the camera, which doesn't catch 14Hz well. But when I turn up this recording up, it still vibrates the room a bit. I guess your sound system is not capable of playing that, if you hear nothing at all, regarding bass...
