The action sequences in AVPL are just poetic. It's not just fight scenes, Trivikram has created them as poems, & AA did 200% justice to it. These things are difficult to imitate

7:18 in AVPL Valmiki named Allu Arjun as Bantu not because he wanted him to be like Hanuman to JayRam, it is because his original son was named as Raj (King) so he names Allu Arjun as Bantu (Servant) as he wants him to be a servant of his own son.
And your point on killing the character of the mother who raised the protagonist in the Hindi version is spot on. Yes Allu Arjun refusing to reveal who he actually is, to not to break the heart of the woman who raised him was very convincing but here they lost the whole point.

I feel like the remake fatigue is setting in sooner than we might've expected. Unless they come up with something new, remakes will keep flopping. Besides that, Kartik Aryan might be a decent actor with some charisma but Allu Arjun's charisma is unmatched. Despite the original film being a subpar movie with a generic story, what made it bearable was Allu Arjun and the songs. Neither the songs of Shehzada nor Kartik Aryan did any favors for the film.

Bollywood should stop doing remakes especially when the original version is available on OTT. Now people have started watching Indian films other than Hindi language films. Therefore its high time they start making films with content which covers Hindi film viewer would expect to see. May be even go back to that 90s movies with beautiful scenery and songs may work.

He isn’t delivery’s heavy drama dialogues or being too filmy, it was more of a celebration of Telugu cinema. Thank you jammy you recognised the man behind avpl success is not only AA but also Trivikram, he is a celebrated director, mainly for his dialogues, Bantu in AVPL is exactly how the hero in a Trivikram movie is, so just reshooting entire movie with another actor isn’t enough to garner success but also we need to acknowledge the efforts of the director as well

  • @charanteja_
    @charanteja_ Рік тому +35

Trivikram is a mastermind in making such kinds of movies. If you know Telugu and the culture, you will understand that there is an emotional connection with the audience throughout the film. Example: The climax fight in AVPL had a folk song included in a fight that was never seen. He was not just fighting but dancing like a pro. The lyrics were taken from the rural villages in East Andhra, which people loved for encouraging the infamous folk art. The lyrics in that song sum up the movie too. People were astonished and in many other scenes throughout the film. It has a high re-watch capability and the creators did a great job which took a lot of research in the background. That's why it became a blockbuster.
I have never seen Sharuk Khan or Salman Khan swaging for Indian folk art. That's what we mean when we say Bollywood never encourages Indian culture. Nor Shehzada had anything with North Indian ancient folk culture. The meaning of the title is "Ala Vaikuntapuram lo" = "In the Abode of Lord Vishnu's Vaikuntam". They literally missed the whole point of the movie.

  • @Annsu2017
    @Annsu2017 Рік тому +35

And one more reason which might or might not impact shehazada's letdown was:
In the original Telugu movie of AVPL, the imposter-rich kid played by Sushant, whose character was beautifully written and well executed as well. His behaviour represents any middle-class Indian kid's psyche when their parents have huge expectations & aspirations for her/his life but in reality, the kid just wants to live a mediocre, no-nonsense simple life (a lifestyle which is heavily frowned upon in this self-made gallizonaires & ultra rich -hustle culture of society). But in the Hindi remake, the character is turned into a dumb, idiotic boy who's good for nothing because of his middle-class genetics, a sight which was so embarrassing it witness on the big screen😂

There could be two reasons for not doing boardoom scene..
1.They might have tried but karthik just couldn’t do those legendary songs with ease like AA as it does require lot of range and the makers recognised it and scrapped it off
2.Karthik’s PR team might have thought its not a good idea to give tribute to legends of indian cinema as they are trying to establish him as the future superstar apparently..🙄

I think Kartik is overconfident now. His BB2 earned coz the Bollywood movie compelled the audience to go and watch a movie in theatres due to covid and the SSR cases. BB2 was just an average movie but Kartik was backed up by audience who wanted him to make big after SSR. His Freddy and Dhamaka were average too.

TBH, I realised the importance of nuances in a commercial movie too after watching Shehzada. As a Telugu girl who watched Shehzada for the love of Karthik Aryan it failed for me on so many levels.
    1. Lack of screen presence of Yashoda's character: The motivations of Yashoda were clearly explained in AVPL through a scene where she states that I can't accept that some random guy is better than my son. Hence showing the character arc from not even discussing to accepting Bantu without knowing the truth as her son.
    2. Raj and Bantu's contrasting personalities and their character developments. For Raj being buried under pressure with low self esteem to expressing thoroughly his needs and on the other hand for Bantu, being bluntly honest to hiding the biggest truth for the sake of his loved ones. ( In Hindi, Raj's rant felt very unspecific to his situation, more like a general commentary on the nepotism) Hence when in Telugu you see Raj angry you actually feel relieved and understand his strength is coming from his love for Nandini.
    3. The big confrontation: After all these years when the final big reveal has happened in AVPL, you see Bantu in disbelief gradually growing towards acceptance and eventually anger. Here is where Trivikram's genius screenplay comes to action with images running in the background and Thaman's brilliant BGM, and when finally AA hits Valmiki you as a audience feel connected too. In Hindi this whole sequence felt like KA wasn't even fighting for his own injustice but rather reacting to something he saw on social media.
    4. The consistency in Valmiki's vile nature: Characters like this might come across you IRL too. You will hate them and can't change them neither kill them ( like killing villains ) but they exist. Here is where Trivikram sir excels in showing that in the last scene where he asks his son to just work harder and quicker to get back to being CEO, but fails when he learns that Raj doesn't have any such intentions (showing that all his deeds went in vain).

I think BGM plays a crucial role in mass commercial movies which was key factor in AVPL. Whether it's the Bantu's actual heritage revelation, the romantic scene, comic scenes and fight scenes. Hell they planted different BGM for each action scene and hilariously staged the climax fight with Sittharala Sirapadu song adding magic to AA' s stylish swag. That's what made the movie entertaining.

And those who say that this or that reason is the reason for the success of BB2, the actual reason of its success not kartik from my perceptive but of good timing and everything went in favour of that film from good word of mouth to franchise factor in addition with good acting but here in case of shehzada sadly nothing is in its favour

They tried to make it with a budget as low as possible. No serious work on song lyrics. Most of the film scenes look like it has been shot with a green screen with 120% brightness. Emotion was missing. We can clearly see that there was a budget crunch and because of which Kartik had to come as producer. As advanced booking was low they had to come with buy one get one offer to at least recover the cost of making.

Infact he was better than AA there...

I donno what's this obsession of Bollywood film makers with those ultra luxurious, immaculate, super clean, super bright, palatial homes that just refuse to be human.
The audience will have to beat himself very heavily down to connect with such a landscape in first place, leave alone getting immersed in it and getting along with the story.
Something superlative doesn't have to be something non-humanish, non -normalish.
The geography, the overbright color tones, a mediocre music, not so great dialogues, improper & inconsistent character sketching, below par emotional intensity (unlike the original)... all have come together to ruin the film. Jammy… I am from Andhra.. I precisely know the reason for this debacle.. not just this movie but all remakes in the past.
The reason is: the legendary director turned writer Trivikram.
The telugu version’s huge success was 50% because of Trivikram’s dialogues, 20% AA, 20% Thaman’s music and rest 10% was the story.
This is the same with most of Trivikram’s blockbusters. Story is just 10%. Most of the success is because of Trivikram’s dialogues.
He is known as “Maatala maantrikudu” which poorly translates to a magician of dialogue.
Obviously, this is what is precisely missing in all his movie remakes.
I am sure everyone from AP and Telangana will echo with my comments.

"Chinnappudu amma annam tinakapote boochaadu vastadu ani cheptundi. Ante abadham cheppinatta? Evarinaina preminchi chudu, abadham viluva telustundi"
Try to translate in english for non telugu ppl
" in our childhood, if we didnt take food then mother will say "if u dont eat food demon will come" means is she lying? If u love anybody, then u'll know the value of lie"
      Then AA replies
"Ade amma pedda ayyaka annam tinaka pote neerasam vastundi ani cheptundi. Buchodu vastadani cheppadu. Evarinaina premiste abadham viluva telustundi. Correcte. Kani nijam cheptene kada aa prema enta gattido telustundi"
      Just sense of the dailogue
"But the same mother, when we grew up, will say "u will become weak, if u dont take food" but not "demon will come. If we love any body, we can know the value of a lie. But only after u tell the truth, others can know how strong ur love is"
He explains every thing with example like a teacher. In TFI if SSR is our magnifying gl glass, Trivikram is our microscope.

BTW, I know you hate the courtroom scene, but I hope someone who is a Telugu speaker translates the true meaning for that scene, It means "buntu...it is not just long legs (beautiful body) but look in to a woman's eyes and heart". Pooja in an interview, explains it really well.. - the true lovely meaning.

This also shows why SRK (and possibly Salman) is indeed the last of the superstars. Irrespective of the quality of the film, they guarantee a bumper opening, even though it might eventually fizzle out if the film isn't appreciated by the audience. That's not true for anyone in the current generation. Unless your film stands out, it will be rejected en masse from day one.

The huge difference is that director trivikram invested much more into proper literature and brought an old concept of a story and showcased it in new light. The story may have been repitituve but the literature and a sense of relatability was infused because the terms and poetic songs are held with regional emotions close to the south land especially Telugu.
It's not someone's fault from the north land that couldn't relate or understand it but trying to remake it just for commercial success would not work.

To remake an wholesome entertainment genre is a tough task. AVPL has a lot of telugu nativity touch because of Trivikrams dialogs and his way of storytelling. Trivikram is already a legend in telugu dialog writing. No other writer in telugu brings such uniqueness as he does. Subtitles does not do justice to the brilliance of the dialogs he writes in telugu. AVPL is a massive hit because of multiple reasons. Allu arjun, Trivikrams storytelling, entertainment, Thamans great music, different climax and many good characters in the movie. It is difficult to recreate the magic of this movie.
