Δρυμισκιανό Αμμούδι - Πρέβελη/Drymiskiano Ammoudi-Preveli, Crete in 4K

Στην περιφέρεια του γραφικού χωριού Δρύμισκος Αγίου Βασιλείου ξεδιπλώνεται μια σειρά από συνεχόμενους κόλπους που σχηματίζουν παραλίες σε μήκος 3 χιλιομέτρων, στη νότια πλαγια του όρους Κορυφή. Η περιοχή ολόκληρη φέρει την ονομασία Δρυμισκιανή Γιαλιά ή Δρυμισκιανό Αμμούδι λόγω των αμμουδερών παραλίων που διαθέτει. Οι αλλεπάλληλες παραλίες χωρίζονται από βράχια και ξέρες οι οποίες κάνουν το κολύμπι με μάσκα πραγματική εμπειρία. Η περιοχή παραμένει σχεδόν άγνωστη στον πολύ κόσμο κυρίως λόγω της πρόσβασης που είναι δύσκολη. Το πιο γνωστό κομμάτι από όλο το Δρυμισκιανό Αμμούδι είναι το δυτικότερο, στην έξοδο του φαραγγιού των Χελιδονιών, κι αυτό επειδή εκεί καταλήγει ο δρόμος που προσεγγίζει την παραλία Λίμνη Πρέβελη. Οι περισσότεροι που φτάνουν μέχρι εκεί δεν έρχονται για να κάνουν μπάνιο στο Αμμούδι, αλλά παρκάρουν για να ακολουθήσουν το εύκολο μονοπάτι μέχρι την παραλία του Πρέβελη.
Η περιοχή του Πρέβελη βρίσκεται περίπου 35 χλμ νότια του Ρεθύμνου και 10 χλμ ανατολικά του Πλακιά. Η παραλία του Πρέβελη γνωστή κι ως Λίμνη Πρέβελη ή Φοίνικας, βρίσκεται στην έξοδο του Μέγα Ποταμού που μεταφέραι τα νερά του επιβλητικού Κουρταλιώτικου φαραγγιού και του Φρατιανού Φαραγγιού. Είναι από τις πιο διάσημες παραλίες της Νότιας Κρήτης και δέχεται χιλιάδες επισκέπτες κάθε καλοκαίρι. Παλαιότερα, ήταν αγαπημένος προορισμός των χίπις. Στις όχθες του Μεγάλου Ποταμού σχηματίζεται το δεύτερο μεγαλύτερο φοινικόδασος της Κρήτης, μετά από το φοινικόδασος στο Βάι, που φιλοξενεί το ενδημικό Κρητικό φοινικόδεντρο του Θεόφραστου. Το ποτάμι σχηματίζει μια μικρή λίμνη μήκους 500μ στην έξοδό του στη θάλασσα με νερό όλο το χρόνο. Μπορείτε να περπατήσετε κατά μήκος του ποταμού, κάτω από τη σκιά των φοινίκων και των άλλων δέντρων, και να αρχίσετε να ανηφορίζετε το υπέροχο φαράγγι. Στις μεγάλες κολύμπες που σχηματίζονται κάθε τόσο μπορείτε να κάνετε ένα δροσερό μπάνιο. Στην έξοδό του ποταμού σχηματίζεται μια αμμουδερή παραλία με βοτσαλωτό βυθό και πολύ δροσερά νερά λόγω του ποταμού. Η παραλία από μόνη της δεν είναι κάτι το ιδιαίτερο, αλλά ξεχωρίζει λόγω του τριγύρω τοπίου. Στο ανατολικό τμήμα της παραλίας υπάρχει ένας εντυπωσιακός βράχος μέσα στη θάλασσα που θυμίζει κατάρτι ή καρδιά που ονομάζεται Γλυμμένος Βόλακας. Ένα από τα ωραιότερα σημεία που αξίζει κάποιος να εξερευνήσει είναι οι θαλάσσιες σπηλιές που σχηματίζονται μετά το ανατολικό άκρο.

South of the picturesque hamlet of Drymiskos stretches a series of consecutive coves forming several beaches along 3 km. The entire region is named Drymiskiani Gialia (Drymiskos Beach). The successive beaches are separated by rocks and reefs which make snorkeling a real experience. The site remains virtually unknown to most people mainly because the access is quite difficult than other places in South Rethymnon prefecture. The most famous part of Drymiskian Beach is Amoudi, the westernmost beach, because there ends the paved road approaching the beach of Preveli from the east. Ammoudi is the starting point of a short trail to Preveli beach. and most visitors park their car here. Whoever continues from Amoudi and follows the paved road heading to the east will meet many beautiful sandy beaches with no people, ideal for isolation and naturism. At the center of Drymiskian Beach there are the beaches of Kefala with a black-tooth-like sharp rock that pops out of the sand. Left and right of the rock you will find the best beaches in the area. If you continue much further you'll reach Anatolika beaches, aka East, named after their location which are less crowded and with deep, clear waters. From Anatolika we can continue to reach the beaches of Kerames, with the first being Gialopotama. Most beaches have no trees but there are large rocks that provide shade all day long.
Preveli is located about 35km south of Rethymno and 10km east of Plakias. Beach of Preveli, also known as Lake Preveli or Phoenix, is located at the exit of the imposing Kourtaliotikos Gorge, where the Grand River (Megalos Potamos) flows. It is certainly the most famous beach in south Crete, accepting thousands of visitors every summer. During the '60s and '70s, it was a favorite destination for the hippies. On the banks of the Grand River there is a large colony of Theophrastus palm trees, which give the region a sense of a tropical landscape. The river, forming a small lake, 500m long, before emptying into the sea, has water all year round. You can walk along the river, under the shade of palm trees and other trees, and start ascending in the beautiful canyon. You can swim in the cold ponds formed in the gorge. At the exit of the river, a sandy beach with pebbles and sand is formed, with sea water being very cool due to the river. In the eastern part of the beach, there is a beautiful rock reminding of a heart. The beach is not well organized because the area is protected, without any umbrellas.
