You can tell a Pinarello by it's shape. Most other bikes now seem to mimic the Specialized SL7. Pinarello have been around for ages and used to make their own steel bikes back in the day. Yeah they always sponsored top teams, from the Reynolds-> Banesto to Team Sky -> Ineos. But they have not bought their way to notoriety any more or less than other top brands.
Yeh that’s a weird comment about Pinarello but I think it’s UK specific. In terms of super high end road bikes they’re popular in the uk because of the team sky connection
Agreed. I mean, look at Nike... All big brands sponsor teams and provide gear. It's marketing. And a good one at that. Who are the biggest players out there? The ones who sponsor teams....
I had a 1986 steel Pinarello and it was pretty. I think the new ones are just gorgeous. Most other bikes look the same with the techie, bland look. But if you know bikes, you recognize a Pinarello.
And yes, they are more expensive. But it's a pretty and premium product. Heck, it's a nice decoration on the wall when not riding it...
Hope to get my second Pinarello soon....
@@ricardorgomez I’ve never owned one. But agree that Pinerello’s stand out from the herd. And I lust after one. And since for what I have to afford. And this version is where I’m at; considering what other brands are selling for ❤
Imagine being sponsored by Scott and sharing your "honest" opinion on other manufacturer...
Not wrong 😂😂
Two peasants 🤣
I just bought a new Pinarello Prince Ultegra for $2850. I’ve never been more excited.
im brand new to cycling and someone is selling a 2nd hand Pinarello Prima for like 600euros but its aluminium frame. Is that a good first bike? Theres also a Giant DEFY pro and a BH Quartz Ultegra but obviously a bit more cash. Just looking for opinions on which to get.
Its the "waviness" that makes them look as awesome as they do. I think they're magnificently beautiful.
I have a Dogma F and a Grevil. Several thousand miles on each and absolutely love them. With the pricing of S-Works, top end Trek or any other kitted out bike, Pinarello isn't bonkers expensive.
Spoken like a dentist on his way to a cafe…
@@milkbunnies I mean, I think the pricing is absurd for the entire industry. Just not absurd for super bikes when compared to other super bikes since they are all priced higher then a car. Nothing about any of these bikes is worth $14,000 and none of the do anything that $4000 bike can’t do.
@@SandSanta Just saw a dogma F at a shop this past week for $21,000 in Miami.
@@frontierlandfrank5314 mine was nowhere near that. I sourced components separately save for the frame for my dealer to assemble. Still came to 14.4 though.
Can’t wait to get my frameset 2024 😍🔥 I’m a fan since 1997. After I’ve ridden a Dogma F10 back in 2018, I knew that’s the bike I want. Unfortunately I’ve rode the bike 1 months after I’ve built my Sworks tarmac😬 now I’ve sold the tarmac to get the Pinarello frameset to the same price as the new Sworks Sl8 frameset.
You need own and ride Pinarello before you judge it.
Pinarellos are amazing and look cool. All the other aero bikes look the same
They are just overpriced and overrated. You don't need to own one to analyse this...
@@MS-bw7yt you should at least ride one
@@MS-bw7yt A top end Pinarello is the same price as a top end Bianchi/Cervelo/BMC/Specialized etc etc - they're all over priced!
@@jaredfontaine2002 I have ridden one (but I don't own one). The experience was okay but nothing special compared to other high-end bikes. I mean they are all overpriced and the quality is usually pretty shit like with everything out of the cycling industry. Also not super stiff in the bb and forks compared to other offerings. Just an overpriced and overhyped Italian brand like many others
I think they look great tbh, too expensive for me but still would love one
i have a f8, with campagnolo super record mechanical on it, and it is a piece of art . Very beutifull craftmanship and still very fast. Is even faster than my new 2023 slr -01 bmc , ultegra di2, . Expensive and I hope it will remin the same
I have a 2020 Prince with Ultegra R8000 , and honestly I was thinking about to replace it with a brand new SLR01. I have absolutely never tried a BMC before, I just really like the look of SLR01.Whats you opinon about that? Would it be a step back compared to Pinarello?
@@tomsmykowski the bmc is a very very nice bike. fast and confortable. I am very sure u will like it. I like it a lot!! Please buy it with integrated cockpit from the start. It's a nightmare to replace the standard handlebar
I love Pinarello because they aren't afraid to try new things on their bikes and while subjectively polarizing on whether they look good or not, they are distinctive and look the part of an exotic Italian bike maker.
The only two aero bikes i can figure out far away are cervelo s5 and pinarello dogma... Others looks cool, but is difficult to tell..
I am watching this video as I am purchasing my Pinarello :D Let's go! :D
Fellas you didn't say anything about Pinarello frames other than you didn't like the "look"?. How about something condstructive about the frame? How it rides? Tech etc.
I rent a Paris Ultegra in Como, really really loved it. A bit heavy but so comfortable and really nice overall, I'd pick the Paris over my current Trek Emonda SLR
I work on Pinarellos...Alot. I work at a dealer, and their new top down seatpost retention mechanism is just a very poor design using a long (I think) T15 bit at 6nm. It constantly slips, and parts are Stupidly expensive. cable routing through some of the cheaper Paris's/ What they now call F is horrible too, makes a 10 min job into a 50 min job
You’re paid for it. Just do your damn job and stop bitching.
If it was an effortless job, who would need you?
im brand new to cycling and someone is selling a 2nd hand Pinarello Prima for like 600euros but its aluminium frame. Is that a good first bike?
Guys, go easy on him - he is riding a Scott. He literally doesn't know what a beautiful bike is.
@Cade Media: thanks for all the great videos! Love you guys, one sh*t vid doesn't change that ;)
I’m with Jimmy. Pinarello designs are interesting. I regard bikes as mechanical art and can look at them for ages and I do display a bike in my house. I’d love to try a Pinarello but to ride.
If I went on what people thought, I would never hsve got my 2024 BMW M2.
I love Pinarello. I own a 2021 Pinarello Prince, to go with my Systemsix.
I used to hate them visually...but for some reason this week I looked at some dogma frames and full bikes online and I've done a 180...I want one.
I owned an 80's Pinarello, truly made in Italy with a nice metal headtube badge. Now I don't believe it's even an Italian company and likely not made in Europe (?)
How anyone can say a Dogma F is ‘ugly’ is beyond me. It’s the Ferrari F-12 of bikes. There is no equal for looks or performance. End of, period. Shut up.
Agreed
I own a Pinarello. Great bicycles but they are a real pain to work on. However, they are made in Europe now and that is a bonus. At least they aren't using a wonky internal cable routing.
The wavy fork acts like a shock absorber and takes up some of the road noise. The rest of the frame is likewise designed to take up road chatter. However, this makes the frame heavier and reducing the wave effect allowed for a lighter bicycle.
"However, they are made in Europe now"
Says who? They used to have decals reading "Adrenalina Italiana" which is just like the Big-S' "Designed in California" but made in China. These days even if the sticker says Made-in-Italy, I think they can bring raw frames in from China and do enough "value-added" stuff like paint, stickers and components to qualify to claim Made-in-Italy, even if the actual layup/construction is done in China?
@@larryt.atcycleitalia5786 Frames are now made in Hungry. Only aluminium frames not made in Europe. They were using a foundry in Taiwan before the pandemic.
@@larryt.atcycleitalia5786correct.
They’re still being made in Asia, like every other big brand.
@@stfu6397 They reported that production was moving back to Europe due to issues with Taiwanese production. I know the frame on my 2020 Grevil was made and finished in Taiwan.
I really like the aesthetics of the blue Dogma F. I ride a little known brand out of Quebec called DaVinci but I would certainly take both a Salvador Dali and a blue Dogma F and be quite happy.
I just purchased the new Dogma F, and I love it. Coming from Cervelo Caledonia 5
I have a 15 yr old FP3. Still a head turner.
interested in some brands that don't pay their way to success and why they are good. is there a pocast topic on this or should it be a subject in the future pocast? thank you.
The price of an X will depend on what model you go for and that will also determine what colours you can choose. I think one of the X3s is red/ black. They go for £4500, so lower mid range, the X5 is around £5700, so upper mid range. There's an X1 and X7 I think!
The forks do have a wave in them, which I suspect helps with the Front Centre dimension / Wheel Base dimension. So you can keep things tight / short somewhere else in the frame geometry, but with this fork you can avoid toe clipping as you throw it out a bit further than if the fork were simply straight. I suspect this also helps make it descend better than if you didn't have the wave that puts the front axel further out front as well as aiding the clearance consideration I mentioned. I think it's actually a clever design to get around a potential problem you have because of another bit of the design that you want to accommodate.
Funnily enough I have my pinarello f5 on my wall in my living room, bought from James at bicycle!
bruh jimmy never say anything good about anything :DDDDDD
They are functional and beautiful they ride awesome 🤌🏻
The Pinarello’s have an organic 🌬️ aerodynamic design. Look at nature there’s no straight lines. But straight lines equals stiffness.
Well, thanks guys. That was absolutely zero help.
Thanks for your opinion I think I'll get a pinarello now.
Back in 2014 I had a pocket full of insurance money and get an F8. I only rode for like 9mo before I sold it. I’ve never felt a more boring bike. Out of all the bikes I’ve owned, this was the only one that I actually did not enjoy riding. Picked up a Cipollini RB1000 right after which felt way more responsive. Couple years with that and I got a crack in the chainstay. Zero customer service from them. Never again will I buy from an Italian brand.
To appreciate style and great looks and most of all, performance, you have to have really good taste, compering Italian vehicles for example to British.😊
I didn't hear anything about either of you having ridden one... lol
They’re just waffling
It sounds like Pinarello Dogma is sold for 14K and all others top of range models cost 6,5K. C’mon!
Just Jelausy and envy....
Quite kind.
Have you riden one over some time? Because if not, wtf?
Weight is overrated if you want to ride a comfort bike, a few seconds later up the hill won’t make a difference, now I want one to😂😂
Pinarello need to make a pink white Team Telekom Jan Ullrich Edition. Otherwise overrated!
Jimmy does hate everything ehh??🤣🤣🤣🤣
ragazzi, tornate a scuola!
Best bikes on market
has most wins in TDF
Yep 1000% agree, they are such a weird shape and the Ineos colourway is so shit
Agreed about the looks. I think they look heinous, but at least they stand out from the crowd.
oddly enough, the only guys I see riding around my neck of the woods are older, over weight men that should not be on them, I guess the bulbus shape of their bellies match the odd shape of the frames
I agree 100 percent with Cade , they have been the ugliest bikes on the market for years
You have to ride Pinarello first and then make your opinion. Pinarello frames are light, stiff, use assimetric techs, also they have their style in design. Look at Specialized. Frames are piece of shit - looks like chinese very simple frames. Isn't it overrated?
Pinarello is overrated and overpriced, says the guy using an apple laptop.
brits generally love Pinarello--I also think they look ugly. They are nonexistent where I live in the USA so I dont understand the love for them shown by brits
It’s because Wiggo rode one.
Team SKY / INEOS. Wiggins, Froome, and Cavendish all had a ton of high profile wins on them, so theres likely a bit of nationalism to it.
Exactly the same reason why you see a lot of Bianchis and Cervelos in NL :)
They are an Italian brand. Most cyclists think these are the top brands.
All the Italian brands are way overrated and expensive.
But Cervelo, S-Works and Treks are all inexpensive and wonderful? Overrated and expensive is far from limited to Italy... the USA is home to Donald Trump after all!
colnago, overrated.
haters gonna hate...
francis' videos are only interesting when bike-fit james is on.
