- 2007. The Bronze and Black models are the premium cartridges in the 2M series. They have an improved suspension block, silver plated copper coils, more precise positioning of the pole pieces with the stylus assembly, and use of extended contact stylus shapes. The difference between the Bronze and Black models is the shape of the stylus. The Bronze is fitted with a hyper-elliptical stylus while the Black uses a Shibata stylus. The Shibata traces over 30% more of the record groove compared to the Bronze resulting in more detail and better definition of the music.
Listening through my Beyerdynamic headphones i find the bronze to be better. It is warmer with better bottom end. Great music. Thank you for sharing.
Definetly fan of the "black" : smooth and precise.

They sound ever so slightly different there's no specific "better" cartridge just different, The black does feel smoother but the Bronze feels like it has more clarity... I'm really not sure especially how Bronze is over double the Blue and Black is like Double the Bronze
Between Bronze and Black on this video I'm not hearing any clarity difference although UA-cam does compress audio down to 128kbps so that might not help, Would have been really great if the video author included a download link to the video pre upload.
I'm currently using a 2M Black purchased about two months ago and am definitely enjoying the extended high range and all around crisp definition of the cartridge. The 2M Bronze is the only cartridge I have not owned of the 2M series. Maybe in the future. Good post, Thank you.
The Black felt like it had more energy and perhaps a bit more high end. The Bronze, warmer with slightly less detail.
Ever notice most expensive things are really good. I hate that.
The black sounds more live and in person. For that type of music, the back is clearly better. For classic rock, the bronze is all the cartridge you'll ever need.
Wonderful theme, Great orchestra!
Question, are they individually tracked, correctly? If so, Black is more alive, better low level and sound stage, and has more spatial awareness. Bronze is still good, but not at the same level as black. For the extra £165, black sounds reasonable.
Black sounds more better to me. Not borring . Felling bright high frequencies and tasty middles and bass
Both were very good but both were different too. A matter of choice then? For me, the Bronze I think, it was as I want vinyl to sound. I loved it. Thank you.
I detected a slight bit more harshness on the bronze and I do mean slight. Sounds like the Black's Shibata stylus tracks the heavily modulated passages on this record a bit better.
The Black clearly sounds better. However, I have heard the comparison here with the old Super OM40, and I prefer that overall to the Black.
The black does not appear to be at the right angle. Tonearm should be close to level.

I was surprised at the substantial difference between these two high end styli - more than I've heard with your other demonstrations. I use a bronze on an LP12/Ittok but I also have the black; however the difference is not as marked as it is here
Exactly I have the same combo same results
Both good but I would prefer the Super OM40. Even over the Black. Black is noisy and when you hear it you can't unhear it. Super OM40 to my ears is very much as good as the Black without the background noise that Black gives you. Much more cleaner.
Can you tell me what album you are playing
Theme from the motion picture "Exodus" from "Film Spectacular", a London Phase 4 record.
no sound ?
which song is that?
Soundtrack to the motion picture "Exodus" by Ernest Gold.
Thanks!@@vinyltranslators3730
Black seems to be sharp and analitycal. It doesn’t sound in this song very nice. On the other hand it was a real pleasure to hear the bronze.
Azimuth looks miles off on the black, it’s leaning to the left.
The bronze sounds better to me
Me to. More coherent.
Yes the bronze sounded slightly better. The difference between the bronze and black is not enough to warrant the price difference in my opinion. But it could also be that the black one was not setup correctly. The black one also has a shibata stylus so it might be trickier to setup or less forgiving of the source material.
I hear a tiny bit of groove echo when the black needle hits the LP. None with the bronze. Almost certainly a set up problem. I nearly bought a shibata tipped Hana cart but after reading how hard that tip is to set up vs fine line I went with the Bronze. It gets here in a couple of days.
@@michaeldickman1460 The Black has a slightly more abrupt in your face sound, whereas the Bronze, while not as detailed, is a more pleasant experience, in my opinion. I was going to order a 2m Black, will now go with the 2M bronze.
Prefer the Bronze too more clarity and space than the Black. Each has his own ear though 😊

2M Black
Awful recording that carries ALL THE NOISE OF THE OPTICALLY RECORDED sound track
Anything but a rega cartridge
Ah yes - my Rega Exact. Straight out of the box it sounded wonderful on the left channel; pity the right channel was dead though
Чёрный лучше
Black is superior in every way, listening on good phones and the difference isn't small, Bronze is good no doubt BUT lol
Totally agree!
Well fuck...the black actually is better.
Both sound dreadful on my phone 😂
