Great quick review, Joel! The clubs do look great and I like that they are hollow-headed and feel solid.
Great to see GM focussing on the vfm equipment for those of us whose pockets aren't quite so deep!
Good review. Would you recomend those shafts?
I have these and I like them a lot.
Joel would you recommend these to an 18 handicapper I was thinking of buying the Taylor made stealth however looking at these fx77 will these offer better value also lofts are coming down to increase distance as high handicapper should I be going for height rather than distance and go for a more lofted set of irons id be interested in your comments, so do I go for these fx77s
Used to have a set of Ram FX2s, wished I still did. I’d reshaft them and use them.
These look identical to Sub-70 699s and the Haywood Signature irons, except the 699s have milling (or what's supposed to look like milling) on the back. I mean, the sole, the shape, the address look, top line: it's all the same. Ram is by far the cheapest if it's just one place making all these irons and re-badging. If they perform the same that's a killer price. Haywood and Ram lofts are the same. Sub-70s are one degree weaker. They're pretty similar to Takomo 101s, too.
Would be great to compare them all. The P790 Killers!
Great review! with the popular OEMs pricing themselves out of range for a terrible world economy, the budget friendly companies with high performance are going to become much more popular. $700 drivers and $1500 for irons is too expensive.
Hi Joe, the Ram irons look great value for money. Unfortunately they don't seem to make the irons for left handed players. So I would be interested if you could review a similar product that might be suitable for lefties.
Sub 70 have some great reviews there hollow iron sets are just under £500 stock and the do left hand. You can also have them made to your length and lie angle and they do different shafts for an up charge but the stock options are all major brand

Hi James
Many thanks for the info, I will check them out.

Look at the Caley irons
All I can say is, hitting the PW over 120 yards and the 9iron I'm able to hit over 150 yards. And I'm just a beginner, started in August of last year. I love it's feel and looks. People would come up to me and ask if I'm hitting BLADES lol
ram used to be quite popular in New Zealand
Were they struck consistently out of the middle ?
Decathlon are 350$ canadian right now, which is way less £349
Compare to Tamoko irons?
I’d like to see how these compare to Takomo, Haywood, and Sub 70 irons. Are these all virtually the same irons?
I think that they are totally same irons.
and the old version of Caley irons - 100% they're all made in the same factory - might be small tweaks, but same molds.
Looks that way
@@v4o82 new Caleys look terrific
Of more interest is how each iron relative to the next performs , we all know Mizuno will be a linear progression due to production quality control.
RAM I think not , no doubt to will be a (for a golfer under 10hc) launch spin and flight carry lottery where you have a set with essentially narrow and wide gaps between individual clubs .
And that's what's a more relevant test.
not just they look good and 1 of them is close to 1 Mizuno .
They look amazing for £300
That looks exactly same as haywood golf
I originally got into the game with a set of knockoff clubs, and so far, I haven't been overwhelmed by the need to upgrade - but eventually I will. I'd say, though, given the choice between buying from Amazon, and buying from a local shop; if the money is close, buy from the local shop. why send more money out of the local economy than you have to?
Amazon golf gear is pretty bad just fyi
Looks like Takono 101 irons
You want best value for money in times like these? Buy 2nd hand.
Ram?? Not heard of them in years
I remember back in 70's I was playing with Ram 3-D balls. Nearly indestructable.
Those look exactly like a lot of the direct to consumer brands out there. I wonder if they all just bought the schematics from a single source?
I’ve got some Sub 70’s and was thinking the same
I imagine they're all produced in similar places
or you can spend the extra £100 and get a known brand like Takomo vs this brand called ram that literally only has 1 review
RAM has actually been around for decades, at least in Australia. Not a premium brand, but not a new entrant to the market
Ram are an old brand at the lower end of the market - used to be a load of starter sets etc floating round from them - Argos sold them 25 year back for example
£150 more actually when you factor in £50 carriage and £100 import duty
And was my conundrum, do I buy a name brand used set or a brand new bargain set? I ended up trading in a few used wedges and an old fairway wood and got a set of Titleist AP1 714 irons for less than $200. 👍🏼⛳️🏌🏽♂️
Perfect
I mean Ram was a named brand back in the day I have a old MC 6 iron that feels amazing
