    So refreshing to see such honest reviews! Think average golfers have too high an estimation of their ganes, I play off 12 and struggle big time with short game! Great review

    Well done Simon for reviewing these, I always thought they'd be good enough for beginners and Hi handicappers who're just learning wedge play. I was just worried about them falling apart after a few weeks of practice.

    Simon you are super cool 4 interacting with subscribers so fully, to buy and review clubs in response to a comment, you have a touch of class pal, it sets your channel apart, dont ever change that, even when you have 250k subs.

    Your so right Simon. I have learned that lesson just recently. I go to the range just bring my wedges and practice my different shots. My game from inside 120 yards is terrible.

      Great video again Simon, but 1 issue I have, you always release a video on an area of my bag after I've already just spent the money filling it. Lol, curious though on your thoughts on cheaper clubs off of Amazon or 2and hand from ebay etc when you need 1.5" longer than standard?

    3 yrs ago, new'ish into golf, I bought a set of 3 Texan wedges off of Amazon for $40. Same lofts as you just bought and I sure used the "good" out of them. Now i bought the replacement set of forged tommy armour vcg wedges for $130 for the 3. I'll use the "good" out of them for the next 3 yrs and then I might be ready for some vokeys. But until I am consistent enough to see and feel the difference on the course, I'm good with a slight step up as my handicap goes down. 3yrs ago I was off 30 now I'm a 12. I can feel and see a big difference one the good shots but now on the bad ones. Love the videos keep them coming.

    Well watching your vids has defo paid off. The exact reason I bought these is to use and abuse them untill they break or don't have a face left, and then go and get a fitting, when I know how to hit a wedge properly. So thanks for all the vids man.
    I think the bounces were advertised as 10 for the 56 and 8 for the 52 and 60.

  • @samhirst7331

    SIMON. I haven't even watched the video yet but I already know I'm going to love this. I dint have any wedges and I'm on a budget so I asked the missus to get me these for my birthday and she did bless her. For 45 quid, to learn how to hit wedges, can you really go wrong??? I was going to film a witb cause I thought you would love these wedges as a cheap set to get some1 going. Can tell I've been watching your vids for a year now, you've obviously taught me well 🤣 going to watch now and find out what you think cause I've played 3 rounds and I really struggle to hit them, mainly me combined with hard ground and tight lies, much practise is needed I think but I think they'll do for me to learn.

    Great video Simon. I'm in kind of a similar boat. Off 17 atm and play with 25 year old irons, no wedges and a driver not suitable for my swing speed. I could go and get brand new, fitted clubs but until I've improved with what I have there's no point. Keep up the great work mate. Good luck on going sub 80 left handed. Wonder which of us will get there first :)

    Simon, yesterday for some reason everything clicked and I started to spin my wedges, one hop and stop about 3feet from the landing spot. It's a whole new game not watching the ball roll off the green. Thanks for the tips.

    Play off 5 hcp, bought a set of these 2 months ago and could not detect any difference from previous Ping and Callaway wedges (we winter 2000 km from home so have a set of clubs at each house). So good that I bought another set to take back to the other house to replace the Callaways! Wedge grooves wear down so I reckon you have to replace them after a few years. The variance between our good and poor swings with any club is far greater than the minute differences between different manufacturer’s clubs.

    I was actually looking at those a few weeks back to replace my worn-out Vokeys, but I decided to regrip some non-conforming killer bee wedges that I bought 3 for $50 years back. I haven't played them since I regripped them, but I remember those things spinning like crazy.

    I bought two Honma TW-W4 wedges in great condition for £112 a month or so ago on Ebay. This was to go with a Callaway md3 wedge.
    Rrp is 149 each, so a great price for a club that is less than a year old, and my God they are awesome.
    I'm no great wedge player, 18 HC, but they inspire confidence and feel like a knife through butter.

    I like this video, very honest. My wedge game is excellent, from 100 yards I’m looking to be no more than 6 feet away. Around the green I use a variety of chips and pitches depending on the lie. I laugh at better players than me who constantly try to spin their ball no matter what their lie is. Spin is so inconsistent and unreliable. A light grip and even tempo is your friend as well as picking your landing spot . Your lie will determine your landing spot so you can use the right trajectory for the shot. Unfortunately there is more to golf than chipping and pitching and I am shit at driving.

  • @paulbrown7425

    I'm off 15 so probably a bit past looking at cheaper wedges, however that being said short game is where your going to save shots in general, are you not better getting good wedges to home your technique with a variety of wedges than buying cheap wedges that your going to need to relearn how to execute your shots around the green with?

    • @SASGolf
      @SASGolf  4 роки тому

      Good question mate. As I learnt with expensive wedges the first time round o would say it’s doesn’t make a difference in the early stages. Hence why it should be even easier when getting fitted for wedges. Buy something expensive doesn’t mean it’s better for your game necessarily. Thanks mate. 👌

    • @neiltaylor1765
      @neiltaylor1765 4 роки тому

      @@SASGolf im really picky when it comes to bounce/grind and the extra options having a high/low bounce combo gives you but definitely having had 2 wedge fittings (one recently for sm8) can really feel the difference in grind/bounce from club to club even with i blind test, I agree strike is key but certainly for players wanting to score lower there comes a point where grind on a second hand wedge is more important than the grooves, yes worn groves will reduce spin but the correct grind gives you the versatility, once you get better then just buy new wedges with the same grind/bounce options

  • @brianryden6045
    @brianryden6045 4 роки тому

    Also with second hand wedges(all clubs really), if you don't know the why and how of specs you can end up with something really awful. You see a big brand and a low price in the bargain bin and pull the trigger, little did you know that club previously belonged to your local giant who needed a specialty club to practice chipping in the Himalayas and the club is like 4* upright, +2", and bent from 50 to 58.....
