You read my bloody mind. Driving her to work at the Marine Corps Logistics Base would be a hoot. Our depot maintenance chaps would drool over a Kubelwagen and pay homage to the massive amount of work to make her run again. They do some pretty impressive things with combat damaged gear but nothing on the order of this masterpiece of restoration. Great job on the things you are working on and Merry Christmas.
I'm glad Kurt was able to join the first line welders. Maybe you can get other staff and volunteers to be listed as second line welders if you list the restoration team on a rebuild.
🎄🎄I wish you all a merry Christmas you are doing a great job top From 1942 to 1945 my father drove a Tiger as a gunner in Russia, when the war was over he had to be taken prisoner in Russia and survived 5 in Siberia. He was born in 1924 best regards from Vienna Günter
It's wonderful that besides the actual vehicles themselves, we have the filming of a general overview of the restorations for posterity. Keep up the good work and I hope to one day come see them for myself.
At 5:41 Kurt said "We aren't a huge workshop with limitless tools available." Even so, I drool over the gear you guys do have. Kurt having a go at stick welding: You did pretty good - did you rehearse or do stick welding before? If not, you must be a natural welder. It took me a LOT longer to master the technique of starting an arc, and my first welds looked really ugly.
In 1975 I rented a Volkswagon Thing for a Day of Shopping in Denver, Colorado. What a "Rattle Trap"! When we got home I set the "Hand Brake" and the Button Shot out of the handle and Bounced off of the Dash. All that I can say is that it was an "Experience" that I was Glad to Do Once in my Life!
Yay! It's the first day of Summer there in Aussie Land. Boo! It's the first day of winter here. Merry Christmas to the whole crew. Be safe and we'll see you when you return.
Merry Christmas to you all. You’ve deserved a well-earned break. You’ve been the find of the year for me and I can’t thank you enough for all the videos of the works in progress and of all the restored pieces at the museum. Thanks for the bit of history of the Stug III. Just to know it was part of the Kurland Pocket defence is hugely satisfying. Cheers.
Hello James, "find of the year" says it all! I totally agree with you. This channel is really unique for me. I wish you and your family a healthy and great christmas. Greetings from Germany.
Running or just a static display, so much work goes into these babies behind the scenes that I tip my hat to all the guys & gals that make it possible. 👍❤💯% from USA
As always another brilliant episode Kurt and team. It’s been great to watch the quality of the videos increase over the past few months. Best wishes for Christmas and the New Year to you and all the hard working crew at Aus Armour from South Australia.
Thanks for a wonderful 2021, I have always been fascinated by WWII German armor. Your rebuilds and explanations are truly superb. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all!!
Kurts first bead , from what I saw, didn't look too bad at all. Nice work, Kurt! (Next, lets see him run a couple overhead, while wearing shorts.) 👨🏭🤬🤣Wishing a Merry Christmas, and a safe, happy, and healthy New Year, to everyone on the Aus Armour team. As well as to all those who support the channel. Sent from Denver, with love!
Mentioned to the missus that I want to come down the hill and 'help' when I retire (in a couple of years).. Copped an earful... Don't spose you can move the museum up the hill so I can still have a home to go to? Love your work, AFVs have been a great interest of mine since I was a kid... Carried plenty, drove only a few... The German vehicles were decades ahead of their time..
Just started watching these videos and enjoying all the progress on all the projects you've got going. Kurt, you did some pretty good welds on the Stug. Especially if you've never welded armor plate before. Besides, you have to actually build up the weld beads with multiple passes to fill the seams. But good on you for starting it for Beau.
Merry Christmas to all at the AusArmour. Thanks for providing us with these regular and informative updates on the immense amount of work that goes into the incredible work that you do.
Thanks to all concerned in producing these fantastic videos. Have a fantastic Christmas all and wish everyone at TAAAM a Happy, safe and productive 2022
Love this channel! It's amazing to see what you guys can do with heaps of junk covered in decades of neglect. I am adding this museum to my bucket list of destinations for sure. Could you possibly tell a little bit more of the history of the Goliath please. In one of the videos you mentioned they were remote controlled. Can you tell us a bit more about that?
Merry Christmas to all of you guys! I look forward to your 2022 videos. Also, I liked seeing the piece that was left on the suspension strut for turning the bearing races -- the place I retired from overhauled aircraft landing gear (among other things) and there were gear that we _really_ wish that the manufacturing centers had not been ground off during the original finishing processes, which made repairs very difficult and much more expensive!
Thanks guys, really enjoy seeing what goes into these restorations. Welding in the tropics, you can keep that though! Can't wait to get up there and check it all out!
I saw a kubelwagen is Yemen about ten years ago complete with the balkenkreuz. It was parked randomly on the street. I also saw a VB bar fridge in the market. Sana'a was a weird place.
Kolejny ciekawy odcinek. Ciekawy jest fakt, że w Australii rekonstruujecie niemieckie koty 😁. Kibicuję Wam z Polski i również życzę całej ekipie wszystkiego najlepszego z okazji świąt Bożego Narodzenia no i szczęśliwego nowego roku😀🎉🎉.
Thank you for all your time and effort in making the videos in 2021. Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Can’t wait to see what 2022 will bring for all your projects.
LOVE you wor work guys and gals... great video, great achievements throughout the year and we are pretty keen to see the developments in 2022! Merry Christmas to all and wishing you the very best for 2022 and onwards.
Absolutely love your videos and find them educational and entertaining. Thank you so much to all the boys and have a great Christmas and New Year from sunny England.
Merry Christmas to all of you Blokes and Shelias at the Australian Armour & Artillery Museum, all the best in 2022, can't wait to see the progress on the existing projects and what ever up coming projects you have in store for us. Cheers Mates!
Those trafficators are better than most of the so-called front indicators and side repeaters on the majority of cars and light trucks built in the last 10-15 years.
My late FIL always told the story of attacking a Kublewagon in Holland with an unarmed Lancaster returning from a raid. When the pilot realized that all guns were empty he did the only thing he could, lower the undercarriage. The Germans who were driving along the top of a stop bank decided that descension was the better part of valor and drove off the bank into the water rather than tangle with a Lancaster clipping along at 200 MPH just above the deck. The crew claimed the kill.
When I was in the army I saw a Goliath. And we used explosives. Most books say it can carry a lot of explosives (60/100Kg), but you won't put more than 10Kg inside. However it can carry a 100 Kg man for sure. Merry Christmas Ausarmor
This is my number one channel of the year, don't change anything, you guys are perfect. Love your work!
21:55 That's a hell of a good first try at stick welding! You're a natural!

Well said.
Gday, merry Christmas to everyone at ausarmour! Have a happy break.

Kurt also had a superb teacher, so don't be so hard on yourself ;)
21:05 I was waiting for the screams as Kurt started welding in shorts.
Top quality video! Great balance of narration, shop noises, and detail shots. Thanks for the entertainment.
Reminds me of the tank shop where I volunteered. Our chief mechanic was top notch. Merry Christmas to all. Thank you for all that you do!

I wish you and your family a healthy and great christmas.
Greetings from Germany.
A schwimmwagen would be cool, maybe one day you might find one! The kubelwagen and a VW Thing look like brothers, wonder why?
Adolf knows why
Germans called them "kubels," and they were much loved by the troops. Glad you brought yours back to life.
Bloody ell, Kurt is a natural welder. Merry Christmas folks, awesome videos.
Merry Christmas, guys! Looking forward to the new year. Cheers!
Merry Christmas and thanks for all the great videos this year.
Running or just a static display, so much work goes into these babies behind the scenes that I tip my hat to all the guys & gals that make it possible. 👍❤💯% from USA

Merry Christmas to the Armour & Artillery Museum team.

Great to see you all have fun making the video. And still…so much to see of the heard work and excellent skills!
I absolutely love the side blinkers! Reminds me of my parents car when I was a child!
Merry Christmas everyone and have a great New Year. Injoy the break, can't wait till we see some new work next year.
Season's Greetings, enjoy your break. Looking forward to the first Workshop Wednesday of 2022 already !
Kurts first bead , from what I saw, didn't look too bad at all. Nice work, Kurt! My fav UA-cam channel, great to see the progress on the vehicles and to see the channel growing every week
The nice thing about the Kubelwagen's engine is that the spare parts are still plentiful - its essentially a Volkswagen Beetle flat-four.
How great it must be to work in a place where everybody gets on and loves what they do! Best channel of the year imho. Bring on 2022!

Looking at that Kubelwagen, you can definitely see where they got the shape of the Volkswagen golf MK1 from !
Merry Christmas. I'm looking forward to 2022

Happy Holidays to you all. See ya next year.
When you have to replace a section of armor plate with new steel, do use the same grade of steel that the tank was built with originally?
My late FIL always told the story of attacking a Kublewagon in Holland with an unarmed Lancaster returning from a raid. When the pilot realized that all guns were empty he did the only thing he could, lower the undercarriage. The Germans who were driving along the top of a stop bank decided that descension was the better part of valor and drove off the bank into the water rather than tangle with a Lancaster clipping along at 200 MPH just above the deck. I came across your channel and thoughly enjoy it. Merry Christmas Happy New Year and keep those awesome videos coming!!
Thanks for the update of the History of the tanks, I really look forward to your updates in 2022
Glad I found this channel. Great job restoring these artifacts. Merry Christmas to you all. Cheers!
When I was in the army I saw a Goliath.
And we used explosives.
Most books say it can carry a lot of explosives (60/100Kg), but you won't put more than 10Kg inside. However it can carry a 100 Kg man for sure.
Merry Christmas Ausarmor
È incredibile come in sett'antanni e più la struttura principale e il motore della kubelwagen non sia cambiata una volta trasferita nel maggiolino!!!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all!
I'm so glad that I found your amazing channel. Enjoy your well-earned break.
Nice work again, thanks guys and merry christmas!
Merry Christmas to all at Australian Armour! Thanks for the great content throughout 2021. 👌 Wishing all your subscribers a very Happy New Year. 🎉
