Many moons ago, I got a four pack of those lanterns and painted them "X-Wing" colors (red, grey, white). I left them as lanterns so they would still work and look like something that went in the ship supplies for when they needed a light after crash landing. The idea of making them Kyber Crystal holders intrigues me.
As a collector of replica SW props, I spotted one of these lanterns at the local Service Station a few years ago and thought, 'now that looks like it belongs in SW', so it sat on the shelf behind some replicas ever since. Then I see it in Andor and now this video! Cool!
@@blackmarketoutpost I will be posting a link on my own social media. I found you because of the Smuggler's Room link posted this morning. Hopefully we can get you noticed!
This looks so good! With your blessing I'd love to repaint up my own. Ordered these lamps from Amazon which should be arriving this week. I'll definitely be giving you credit as this idea is dope!
@@blackmarketoutpost I love it! Now that I'm using it I realized that I should have gone for the larger version. It is the best one I've had so far. Had a Shapeoko XXL, size was great, but I didn't want belts. Before that I had a Carve King also by Millright, a Bob's E3 and a 3018. Funny, each one was sold to get the other. I'm all set with the Mega V!
Dude....ide love to see you do a seismic charge, what Jango Fett used against obi wan in asteroid field....if you could add audio of the sound it makes when it charges, it would be sick.....I always found that sound wicked....
Thanks for the video. Great idea. I am however baffled why you taped the middle part that gets painted orange and then taped over that part again AFTER you painted it orange. Was that an editing mistake? I am really struggling with the steps you used there. Thanks again.
I painted silver then orange then black that is the paint sequence I taped the orange squares in order to keep them orange during the black paint process.
Excellent. I just finished the paint job. It’s my first Star Wars prop attempt. I make Halloween tombstones and other holiday props, but I’m a huge Star Wars fan so I figured I’d give this a shot.

Than you Joe
How did you keep the top and bottom part together without the screw that runs down the middle of the light?
It’s is a press fit with snap clips the bottom rides in a track the snap clips keep it in the track
And the top section I glued to the top of the glass

One more question. How long did you wait between the oil based paint weathering and clear coat application?
I let it sit over night
