I started dressing up to do mundane things (grocery shop, dentist office, friend house) so I could practice. Helps a lot. Also I started picking an item and creating a whole look around it. Challenging but helps me get creative and wear pieces I normally wouldn’t reach for.
Sending this video straight to one of my nieces, if she won’t listen to me hopefully she will listen to you. First of all she wouldn’t buy any clothes, now she’s buying a ton of stuff she likes but she’s not shopping with intention so has no outfits 🤦🏾♀️. Then she has me on the phone trying to help her get dressed. Fix it Jesus 😂😂😂. She NEEDS this series
I had to purge my entire closet about 300 pieces of clothing, and shoes and bags. I realized I didn't like anything in my closet. I am now rebuilding so I am starting with the basics and hopefully soon I can get to the fun stuff. I have some issues with my feet from work so I have to wear different shoes so I have to find cute flats that are wide in the front. No heels.
I think I heard everything you suggested but I was really distracted by the absolutely beautiful sweater you are wearing and your nail color is popping!!!!🔥🔥🔥. I think I need to watch again 🙂
The tip to practice your outfit is great advice. I have been doing this for my work week outfits. I choose a color palette for the week and build 5 or 6 outfits. My mornings are much calmer.
Great video as always gorgeous! I know my style and mostly wear all black for years. I don’t have tons of clothes but I have accessories that change things up. I tend to have clothes for dressing up. I like to dress up. I am very organized. Shoes are a challenge as I don’t wear heels anymore and was all over the chunky shoes trend. No one will pry my Prada loafers away from me. I gasp only have 1 purse and it’s a tote. I am not a purse person. I need to work on this asap. I love sunglasses and big necklaces especially chokers. There is literally no place to shop where I live in person and I don’t have a car. On line shopping is so frustrating I buy and return like a pro. I work on my looks weekly. So I a ready to go when I need to. Sometimes I miss like last week I was overheated as it wasn’t as cold as I thought and I couldn’t change. You are fabulous x a zillion! Hug’s xoxo
Very informative. I need to spend some time organizing to see all that I have. I'm investing in the IKEA PAX system now to purge. Thanks, Queen. Needed this push.
This was very helpful. Especially the idea of purging and organizing before shopping. I sometimes buy the same thing twice without realizing I already have it.
So glad you mentioned finding your style takes practice like anything else. I find myself thinking that people that dress so well are just smarter in that regard. That they just know. But, you’re right. Practice makes perfect. We have to put effort/work into it.
This was so helpful to me. I really like what you said have 3 ways to wear an item. Just purchase a slip dress that I have been eyeing for 4 month thought about returning it but took your advice tried it on as 3 different outfits. Love each look! I will continue to follow that strategic.
Great tips. I look in my closet and I cringe. I'm always saying i have nothing to wear because I literally do not like a lot of the items I purchased. So, I'm going to use these tips going forward.
I love this. So many times I have the clothes. The blouse will look beautiful in the store. In my mind I see how I will wear it. But then I’m stuck for just one outfit. Excellent to style it 3 ways and when there isn’t any pressure to rush to go somewhere. Which is the way I do this in the morning before work and end up just repeating the same look. Although it looks good it would certainly give off a different energy styled differently. Love this. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾❤❤❤❤
I love your style and your taste is exquisite. 4-5 years ago I lost about 100lbs and had to buy an entirely different wardrobe, been maintaining ever since. When I was big I always chose clothing that looked and fit the best on my body first and foremost, but my style has always been feminine and classic. I love timeless pieces and I'm not too big on trends just for the sake of them, but I still want to look youthful.
Lady!!!! I must have tried on my entire closet stying everything on the weekends when I was in my 20’s. Had the time on my hands and I loved every minute of it. Definitely one of the best ways to find what you like in your wardrobe and purge what you don’t. Excellent video 💕 1,000 thumbs up 👍🏽
Pinterest is so helpful. I used it to create my holiday looks which helped me not to over buy- I realised I had pieces to create my prefer looks which are my style
Absolutely outstanding Janae. My style keeps evolving but I don’t purge often enough. I need to. I definitely play dress up. My biggest achievements have been developing a “ look book” of outfits complete with shoes, handbags, jewelry for when I travel. It’s work but when I’m on the vaca, I’m stylish, I can be flexible, I get ready faster and there is less pressure. I just need to apply it to everyday and do a serious purge!! Thank you!
Such valuable info to elevate your style. I especially liked the tip "practice like you're going somewhere." It saves so much time and reduces stress when you are going somewhere. One of your best videos and series.
Loving this series! Thank you for this. My motto this year is Clutter Free in 23 and I have been donating things like it’s going out of style. I’m excited to use this SERIES to get to the point where I am loving EVERY LAST PIECE in my closet.
Literally you are so pretty! I needed these tips. This will also help me with my content creation and looking more like an influencer if I understand my style.
First off face is flawless! But yes to all these tips! I try not to hold on things but it’s hard sometimes but I’m also on the verge of recreating my style! I love to switch it up every few years! Living overseas was very inspiring to my style!
Great content; extremely helpful series!!! For me, there is a great need to define my style and shop my closet. The approach with pintrest is a game changer, as I gravitate toward the no brainer pieces versus style to look my best. Thank you! for sharing your approach.
Another winner!! Extremely helpful...cant wait for the next installment of the series. Would it be possible to have an updated video of how to elevate and update outfits with accessories? It allows me to work with existing clothes while updating with more affordable vs clothing
I really love this style series. It’s very informative, well thought out, and explained perfectly. Thank you for your expertise. It’s giving us lots to think about. I have a closet stuffed full of things I don’t wear and I’m struggling to find my personal style. I’ll be using your Pinterest idea and creating a mood board of things I gravitate to. Also, I’ll try to stick to buying pieces I love as opposed to things that “will do”.
Great tips Janae - I will certainly be utilizing many of them. I recently just started pre--planning my outfits by trying them on way in advance and it's such a great time management tool!
This video was so helpful. I’m going through a stage in life where finding a style that works for me; my body (weight loss) my age (55yrs but not ready to shop Chico’s)Lifestyle (work to gym outfit planning). The tips in this video is a great starting point. Thanks Queen
Hey lady loved the info specifically when you suggested putting the clothes on after you have styled them and the fact that you make sure you can wear something multiple ways. I am older now so I am adding more statement type of pieces and definitely having fun with them.
Excellent!!! These tips will be so helpful to really learning what my style is. As a mature aged woman I really want my style to be current and being patient and applying these tips I believe will get me there!!! Thank you Jenne❤️
Thank you Jenee. I love this serie . I will try to implement all. My favourite is the last tip as I find myself getting so much anxiety to dress up for drinks, date etc. As the result, I have cancelled many events at the last minute. Feeling bad about myself and people that I let down. Big thank you for this one ❤️❤️❤️
Love these style tips! I always watch your purging videos when I need to purge my closet. Working in fast fashion I have way too many clothes and unhealthy attachment issues so I’m slowly working through my closet
Loved this video! As someone who WFH since the start of the pandemic, I’ve seemed to have lost my personal style and it takes me forever to pair my outfits. This video was so helpful❤
This is why I love your content ! Such a helpful to just get dressed, even if you’re working from home. Etc. I’m going to start doing this. Thank you Jenee!
I watched this video before but didn’t catch it! After covering fashion week I remembered your vid and now it makes sense! Practice is what I need to exercise my style muscle. I’ve been doing that but hadn’t made the connection full circle. Genius!Thx Jenee Also the mood board has really helped me gain more ideas and just how it should look to help me shop with intention. Y’all watching this vid more than once is key!!! Great job gurl
Excellent advice! My kids always tell me to post my OOTD. I never do...I love watching your style and have been inspired by your choices. How did I miss that tiktok with that blue 💙 clear 🤔 offwhite jacket though...smh. now I have to go find it 😒. You are truly an inspiration QUEEN!
Hey Queen!! I totally agree with your tips. I spent some time just editing my closet. I found pieces that no longer fit my style. I donated all of it. It makes getting dress much easier. Now I shopping for thing I really love. There were 6 bags of clothes, shoes and jewelry. I love the tip if you don’t love it and does it go with three things. M
I love this series! My take away is: I like that you said, finding your personal style takes practice. One of the ways to do that I see is that I have to get "DRESSED" lol. that's the only way I am going to make this muscle stronger. I have to practice, so getting dressed becomes effortless. Shopping my closet has definitely helped me when shopping for things I think I need vs. what I really need. This is key so I don't over spend and I shop with intention. I look forward to additional tips from your series!
Love, love, love the tips! Can’t wait to get started on purging my closet and building my personal style. I feel stuck because of the weight gain and all I want to do is throw on sweats because of my midsection. Gotta work on getting my stomach down and I will definitely feel up to getting dressed and feeling good in my clothes. Thanks for sharing! 👑🙏🏾💕
I bought your Bobbie Brown concealer and foundation. Game changer for me. Wow.....I also have Pat Magrath concealer which is amazing but..those shades together that you use of Bobbie Brown are amazing...thank you! The eye shadow sticks are great too!!!
Just found your channel today, and wanted to say I love it! ❤️ So many people wear casual or sloppy clothing, so it's refreshing to see someone like yourself going for the Luxe style that I do and love!
My issue is having too much in my closet. It takes me a couple hours to select an outfit. But before you say purge… I recently purged 117 items from my closet and it doesn’t look any less full. I’m a shopaholic… so maybe therapy is my solution. LOL!
I once worked with a young lady who was 8 years longer than me - me in my mid 30's she was 3-4 years out if college. She would complement me on almost everything I wore, and once told me "I want to dress just like you , you just nail it"..I thanked her, and saw this as a two eay yrachable moment. 1) You never know whose watching you and your style. And if I may be honest, I never thought I was a great dresser/considered stylish, do I recognized her compliments as recognition of my hard work towards building my wardrobe in the right direction. The second teachable moment was to share with my coworker that as much as I am flattered by her compliments, I kindly suggested that she not dress just like me because she would miss out in the journey of discovering what wirks for her . I shared that Tnrough trial/error I "discovered" that I look amazing in off-white but washed out in white, blazers are my super staple, pants with pockets do not flatter my shape at all, I can rock khaki and army green like nobody's business, jewelry "star" is earrings, my glasses are my main accessory, and a seamtress is a girl's best friend..I also told her I have a celebrity whose style I like - it was Diahann Carrol at the time , and for work wardrobe style it was Kelly Ripa and Meagan Mulally on Will &Grace. I also suggested she create wardribe vision boards..Most importantly I advised her to enjoy the journey of discovering her personal style and that it will change over the years which is a beautiful journey in and of itself
Excellent, excellent, excellent Janae!! Keep ‘em coming chica!👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽🤗
I love the neutral knit jumper and the gold jewelrey especially the choker. You look stunning! Great tips, thanks👌💯
Thank you, this series has been very helpful in finding "MY LOOK"
One tip I want to start doing is taking more pictures and videos of outfits to see what I really look good in and better assess the fit.
I remember hearing you say you should be able to visualize an item 3 ways a while ago and it’s advice I live by.
I started dressing up to do mundane things (grocery shop, dentist office, friend house) so I could practice. Helps a lot. Also I started picking an item and creating a whole look around it. Challenging but helps me get creative and wear pieces I normally wouldn’t reach for.
Love those strategies!
love those tips❤
Great idea! we’re always waiting on some “nice place” to wear our dressier clothing but why
That sweater is EVERYTHING by the way!!!
Sending this video straight to one of my nieces, if she won’t listen to me hopefully she will listen to you. First of all she wouldn’t buy any clothes, now she’s buying a ton of stuff she likes but she’s not shopping with intention so has no outfits 🤦🏾♀️. Same! I cleaned out a lot and was like dang.. I have nothing to wear lol
I am doing the same thing.
I am currently doing the exact thing. I’m using my 50th birthday and 30lb weight lost as inspiration/movitation.
I love the tip to work the muscles! We can have a ton of ideas in our head but until we try them on, we don't now for sure how they will work.
Can we call this a master class! Thanks for this!
Your tip of being able to style a new piece three ways has made my closet so much better. It's amazingly powerful.
Yes! Glad you find it helpful!
powerful tip❤

Great information. Thanks for sharing.
