Grab a cuppa or a.drink and settle in for a long one... This is my last art supplies haul of the year! Which would you most like to try?! More information and links to everything I have mentioned are here on my blog: aratidevasher.wordpress.com/2022/12/24/my-last-art-supplies-haul-of-the-year/
1:56 You can refill “disposable” (Pigma Micron, Staetdler/Fineliner) pens if the nib is still good, just pull the nib with tweezers and drop in some Indian/Bombay Ink in with a syringe … waterproof and cheap! 38:53 Derwent Drawing Pencils are my fave pencils… they are sooo creamy and smooth… and the fuller set has the most amazing colours that you will LOVEEEE! Loved watching the vid, thanks for sharing 🤗🤗🤗
@@ArtySubu No, not usually, but my nibs are still good (I don’t draw as much as you tho, lol)….or I have swapped from a diff empty pen one that is … i also tend to fill up the cheap sets that you get from dollar stores that have all sizes but the ink is not waterproof, with carbon ink that is… cos the pen is still good even tho the ink wasn’t 🤗🤗🤗
@@ArtySubu yep, that’s why the cheap dollar store sets, tweezers and a $2 bottle of waterproof Indian ink would probably be better than destroying that beautiful new pen you’ve bought! 🤗
Or I also bought cheap kiddy fountain pens now (Staedtler Easy Pens or Pilot Preppy’s, I love them!) and refill with cheap Indian or carbon ink. They were less than $5 NZD so prob $3 US… another good alternative 🤗🤗🤗
Loved watching this Arati and getting ideas for spending my Christmas money! Looking forward to seeing how you like the Royal Talens sketchbook. I didn't even think of searching for art materials on Vinted! What a great deal for your luminance pencils, I'm slowly building up my collection but a big set is the dream!
Hello from the Dutch Caribbean (Curaçao), art supply desert sadly enough. Thank you for sharing this wonderful art haul. About the Derwent Drawing Pencils, that is just their name, they are in fact very creamy coloured pencils with absolutely the best white ever. All are extremely Lightfast too. Except one, all have the highest score and the exception is just one notch below, which is still Excellent by definition. Too bad they only come in 24 colours though. Have a beautiful and artsy 2023.
Hello! Curaçao sounds beautifully warm and tropical! What's it like there? Thank you for the information about the Derwent Drawing pencils. I've since tried them and agree with you! The white has gone into my main box of neutrals as it works well over gouache too. 💛 P.S. I'm sure Jackson's Art would ship to you.
@@ArtySubu Yes, they would. My biggest disappointment when we moved here 8 years ago was the lack of everything but sand, sea, sun and salt. But I have since learned and we order everything abroad in the US as well as Europe where the VAT get deducted before export. So the freight forwarders are very fond of us! Haha! I mix my Drawings Pencils with my Lightfasts and a lightfast subset of Coloursofts. Am now eyeing your beautiful and practical Lumos fine-and-everuthing-else liner. Wow!
oh thank you. just watched this great video yesterday and even though it's 11 month old came back because I felt the need to leave a comment about those wonderful Derwent Drawing pencils.
You got lovely supplies! I really enjoy the derwent drawing pencils and the art creations sketchbooks. The albrecht durer pencils look amazing. I love chunky pencils 😊
Ooh, that's an interesting point to note, thank you! I have literally zero experience with them, and would only be using them for sketchbook work - looking forward to experimenting!
Yes! Rendr sketchbooks are great for the alcohol markers! No ghosting in the pages and you can use front and back of the page without damaging artwork. I ordered a Rendr sketchbook a while ago and the blending was okay ( I am not a professional artist) but then I bought another one years later and it seemed like the pages were different ( still no ‘ghosting effect’ but the blending was less smooth). I know a lot people complained about this and thought that maybe it was a ‘bad batch’ of sketchbooks. The company had said that they would look into it. These reviews were from Amazon (which is where I bought them from both times). Still a great sketchbook though! Definitely won’t stop buying them when they are on sale!
Love your videos and really loved this haul. I appreciate the time stamps and the editing work. Example: editing out the time taking the pencils out and putting them back in the case to swatch.
Aw thank you so much! I try to make videos that I myself would enjoy watching (and make my husband watch them before I upload too, poor man!) so it's really nice to hear this feedback!!! 💛😄
Wow! I'm shocked at how good those Crayola oil pastels are! I'm a Mungyo girl myself. Yes I love Sennelier and others, but the Mungyo are just as good if not better and at literally one tenth of the price. So I haven't even replaced any of my others as they run out. They are soft like the Sennelier so adding these Crayolas would be, like you said, great for more detailed work! Oh, I need to add that I am talking about the Mungyo Artist grade pastels. The others are only OK, but the Artist grade......chef's kiss!
I've never tried the Mungyo! I have had Pentel before but never rebought when they ran out because I had Sennnelier by that time. I have seen @BlackBeanCMS use Mungyo too but I don't use pastels enough to justify getting them as well 🤦🏽♀️😄
I hope you like the acrylagouache. My favourite thing about them is actually the colours, and the fact that there are so many you don't have to mix! Also, i think i will look into that Lumos pen, it looks cool!
For a white pen/marker to use on top of other media; I feel the Posca white markers in different nib sizes are one of the best and Dr.PH Martin's bleed proof ink used with a small brush.
Just put a ‘catch under’ scrap cardstock under pages when you use sketchbooks! And if alcohol marker etc bleeds through don’t use reverse side or cover it up with taped or glued in art! I’ve heard render paper is terrible for blending sadly.
Thanks for the tip! I press quite hard on my sketchbook with pens and pencils so always have a thick sheet of paper between pages. But dislike the waste of pages that results from bleed through - I'm still working on not letting that bother me 🤣
Yes I'm not keen on the whiteness of the paper. But then the alcohol markers aren't working for me either! Might do a video "working with materials I disliike" 😜

Thanks so much for watching! I did not know you could refill microns. But are the nibs replaceable as well? It's usually that which wears down first.

Haha! Yes, I'm rough with my microns and especially when used over gouache or acrylic they don't last very long.

Oh fab! Now you can go shoppinggggg for art materials! Yes, the big set was a dream. I think I did the maths wrong and it was more than 50% off!

Ha that's a good workaround! But you have the bonus of sun, sea and sand, hey? I'm working on a full review of the Lumos, so keep an eye out for that!
oh thank you. just watched this great video yesterday and even though it's 11 month old came back because I felt the need to leave a comment about those wonderful Derwent Drawing pencils.
Haha! That's pretty awesome, glad you found it useful!
I started using Crayola oil pastels after watching Black Bean from UA-cam use them. They're remarkably wonderful! Excellent video!
Thank you so much! Looove @BlackBeanCMS !!! He's the one who inspired me to get them too!
Love art hauls, so many interesting things=)Thank you=3
Thanks for watching! Which was your favourite thing that you want to try?
You got lovely supplies! I really enjoy the derwent drawing pencils and the art creations sketchbooks. The albrecht durer pencils look amazing. I love chunky pencils 😊
The chunky pencils are so nice to work with! Thank you for watching!
It is true that Rendr doesn’t show through but many alcohol marker artists don’t use it because it’s not great for blending.
Ooh, that's an interesting point to note, thank you! I have literally zero experience with them, and would only be using them for sketchbook work - looking forward to experimenting!

Brilliant, thanks for the information! I'm not a huge fan of smooth blending in my work so it may do alright for me!
Loved the haul now I have a few new things to add to my list
Oh great! Hope you have fun with them!
What a great haul of supplies. I'm going to have to go check out that lumos pen, it looks interesting.
Thanks Wendy! It's a great pen and I'm looking forward to years of good use of it!

@@ArtySubu Yes! BlackBeanCMS ia the one who turned me onto the Mungyo!
Absolutely amazing! Always in awe of their creativity. @BlackBeanCMS is an inspiration 💛
I really love the Crayola Portfolio water soluble oil pastels. I bought some for myself and my granddaughter.
Oh great! Do you make art together?
I hope you like the acrylagouache. My favourite thing about them is actually the colours, and the fact that there are so many you don't have to mix! Also, i think i will look into that Lumos pen, it looks cool!
It was you who influenced me to get the Acryla Gouache, April!!! Lumos pen is awesome!
For a white pen/marker to use on top of other media; I feel the Posca white markers in different nib sizes are one of the best and Dr.PH Martin's bleed proof ink used with a small brush.
Yes, I agree! I have both and use them a lot when I want a bright highlight. And also a Pentel white gel pen or a Sakura Gelly Roll too.
I need to look into those Apple pencil tips!
Loving them so far 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Wow what a haul 😍😍 I heard good things about holbein white pencil and their pencils in general so I hope you will enjoy them 🌺
Glad you liked it! I am indeed enjoying them. But the Luminance are still my absolute favourites!
I love my Albrecht Durers ♥️ new subscriber
Aw thank you for subscribing! I'm really enjoying them too, have been playing with them!

Did you try the markers in the render and if so how did they do?just found you and have subscribed
Thank you so much for subscribing. I haven't tried them yet as I've been busy filming the Posca and Lumos videos, but will do that very soon! 💛
I used the Render paper a few years ago, but it didn’t work for me at all. Other peopleI know love it so I gave the remains of my pad away to them.
Yes I'm not keen on the whiteness of the paper. But then the alcohol markers aren't working for me either! Might do a video "working with materials I disliike" 😜
❤❤❤❤❤❤🥰🥰🥰💕💕💕💕
Glad you enjoyed it! 💛 I'm still happy with most of my purchases and have been using them with delight!
@ArtySubu I really like art too and I like to draw and I appreciate it very much 🥰🥰❤️❤️❤️💕💕💕
That's great! What do you like to draw? 💛
@ArtySubu flower monsters and mor
That sounds brilliant! What fun!!! 💛 What medium?
