Just a little heads up. This is actually not a JCM800 it is a 1978 ("K in serial) JMP 2203 Lead Master MK2. Although similar to the JCM 800 there were some differences (B+, filtering, etc) and these preceded the JCM's by a few of years. Cheers!
Yes I know that. I work on so many amps I have general groupings. Even though this is one of the various MK11 models, and there were quite a few during the transition. I consider the MK11 amps as the JMPs. I basically have 3 catagories; JTM, JMP, If it has the plastic rocker switches, and the extra gain stage, it falls into my 800 catagory. Then there are the 900's and anything after that I do not care about. Thanks for watching and commenting, shows you were at least paying attention.
The Orange amp I just bought 3 years ago maybe 2 has a noise. I did leave on for a long long long long time though. Everyday id come in from work or something and play through it but I never turned it off. I don't know why I did but I did. It sounds like shit now do you suppose a tube left.
It's possible it was populated with mustard caps. I have a 77 full of mustards. But they were pretty much gone by '76 for the most part. I'm surprised I found a '77 with them but there are anomalies with transitional years. If it had mustards that might be one logical explanation for seeing them " kyped". Some attribute the mustard caps as part of the Marshall "Holy Grail" tone as they were used in the old Plexi's thru about '76.
I love these amps, pretty sad to see what happened to it until you resuscitated it! Excellent work!
Very cool vid, thank you for sharing.
No Prob.....Glad you enjoyed it.
Good job! I really enjoy watching guitar amps get repaired. I own four Marshalls. And I want to learn as much as possible about fixing them.
Which four do you have?
Nice work! Looks great! I bet it sounds great too 👍
It does!
Dang that old girl seen better days

Hard to tell, anything at this point would be a guess. Give me a yell.
Why would someone take out all the original stuff thay was in it, was there supposed to be some bennifit from doing that?
One of the great mysteries of the world. I ask myself similar questions nearly daily.
