Good review, thanks. From the manual - 99 presets and 99 user patches. So you can save duplicates of say, 3 particular preset patches you want in sequence in a user bank. Hey presto, just select that bank and stomp backwards and forwards through your song - just like the Zoom I’m currently using. Which leads to my question - when stomping through patches is there a significant lag?
This is a good review. I noticed you are turning up the master for overall preset levels...is this like most modelers now, where it's literally turning the master and getting a power amp distortion..or does it have a level for each channel as well that doesn't change the power amp for more saturation? Also don't forget any hidden specials....like does it do two amps at once? Parallel routing? Effect order? Like a phaser before the amp or after etc... I think these are things that people really need to know now a days and really helps the buying thoughts. Thanks
im planning on buying this cute pedal. but i have questions : 1. can i switch from 1 preset to another preset quickly or do i still need a foot switcher? 2. is there any Wah effect inside the presets? thanks
A thing that might be useful for the cycling issue would be the control function of the buttons. If you hold down the left footswitch you can switch on and off effects that you can specify in the menu. With external footswitches you can even control more "scenes". Won't be able to switch amps, but if you have a versatile clean tone you can turn on and off distortion and other effects.
A very good review, thanks Rob. Maybe others have said it, but one way to "jump" from one effect to the other is by swiping on the screen, then you can scroll at a high speed. I guess there is another way, too, by assigning two patches to the two switches or even to connect an external double-switch pedal to this thing and assign those extra switches to two separate patches. Again, thanks for the review and keep it up. You have a new subscriber :) Zs
Nice review. I don't have this unit yet. Thinking about the Spark GO too... How many user patch slots are there? Re, DSP.. Can you use x2 delays and x2 Reverbs in one user made patch? I think you can scroll through the presets very quickly on the touchscreen but not sure if you can jump to a specific preset or not. Cheers
I like the Ampero 2 but it doesnt have a drum machine. I ordered the Ampero mini when i saw it included a drum machine, but now that i'm looking i don't see that the mini looper has an undo function. I need an undo function! Hotone - I need a multi FX unit with drum machine AND looper undo function!
Looper is an after thought. Even the tone chances when you try to play over a loop e.g., lead on the Hotone II. Buy a FM3 or FM9 AND a Boss RC500 and you will be happy. That is what I did, FM9 Turbo. Tones and effects are WAY better as well...as in night and day better and more IO.
Hi Rob, seriously considering one of these... did you try it with headphones by any chance, as for me it would make an ideal travel practice amp whilst working away. Great in depth video by the way! P.S I saw in the manual a screen grab of the desktop software and it seems there are 2 x banks factory patches and user patches, so I assume you can make set lists of your own patch sequences a bit like in a Helix or a Katana
I didn't try it with headphones yet but it was direct into my computer so I'm confident the direct sound into headphones would be just as good. A great travel practice amp for sure. & Yeah there's so much to unpack with this, I didn't get to look at the desktop software yet! Possibly a future topic for another video. Thanks for watching!
Thank you for the great review. For the price, this pedal is fantastic with great tones and possibilities. The only thing I dislike are the Footswitches. The switches only react when I release the buttons with my foot. So for example, it is difficult to synchron loops in the looper modus. Sometimes I'm a little to late, sometimes a little to early. Does anyone here have the same problem? Or a good advice?
This unit is $100 more than the Sonicake Matribox you also reviewed. Do you think this is $100 better? To be honest going by your demo of both i prefer the Sonicake? I only need a home practice unit with headphones.
Great question. I have the Matribox and this sounds like it could be better but maybe not $100 better. I am pissed that they came out with the Matribox 2 only 4 months after the 1st one.
Thanks for this video. One question, to connect it directly to a PA, should I use a stereo DI Box? Because, as far as I know, the output of the Ampero Mini is not balanced. Thanks
I believe you can use the hotone foot-switch extension thingy to jump banks or even activate/deactivate certain pedals your loop. i believe it's written somewhere in the manual.
Thanks for the awesome video! 🤘🏼🔥 One of the best Demos on UA-cam! Quick question… does the Ampero Mini have “Scenes” or something like it? I just need the 3 basic sounds, CLEAN, RHYTHM and LEAD. But I don’t seem to find any information about this yet 🤔
Good question, Still figuring it out I’ll be honest. The customisation is very easy though so it wouldn’t be difficult to set up those 3 types of sounds - which is pretty exactly the same as what I’d want!
I've put together a small little stereo practice rig in a 'carry box' with some powered monitors, and I was on the fence about which modeller to drive it with. At first I was wanting to keep it cheap and thought of the Mooer 150 or a Valeton offering, but this or the Ampero One seals the deal. Way better quality tones and amp sounds, a little more expensive but amazing quality and value for what you get.
First of all, great video you did with killer tones! So, about the cons you mentioned, there is a feature to turn on and off specific effects by holding the footswitche one or two. I just watched another video and I saw it. Besides, I think it can be controlled by midi via usb (just like the ampero mp 80).
There’s so much to unpack with this & I’m admittedly very new to it so I don’t don’t doubt I’ll be figuring new things like this out for a while! 😂 thanks for watching 🤟
Here’s the one million dollar question: is it possible to move patches around? I don’t want to have to stomp on it 50 times to get from my clean tone to my preferred overdriven sound.
Great question. That would be a great feature on these modeling devices. I have a Sonicake Matribox and you can't move presets around. You would have to recreate the ones you like to be next to each other, which would be a real.pain.
One limitation of this pedal is there’s only 3 fx allowed. Yes there’s a delay and a reverb but that’s that. If you wanted 2 tremolos and two flangers you can’t do that. At least I’ve not seen how to do that
thanks for a demo that isn't pure chugging and shredding the whole time. ordered one of these for the mods, but the delays and verbs sound nice enough I might see if they can replace my regular boxes.
@@RobGalley are you plugged in direct or plugged in an amp that's miked direct? I love the effects of this thing they are endless. Amps are endless in their sound and I wasn't even messing with the cab/mic feature yet. If HOTONE is listening I do wish they set up a way we could plug in each drum patches to make whole songs to play against.
Meh- not really impressed. Returned mine. It was OK but the dirty tones were not so great. Looper can't overdub with a different tone without changing the 1st loop tone is a major fail. Great form factor, UI is very decent and nice touch screen. DSP is week. Effects were not impressive. If you can score one used for $200 maybe but still, I could get a MG-30 over this. Got mine for $200 and like it better. FM3 is much better than both.
@@Proganaut1989 You tell me Chris if paying $700 to get tone, nearly identical to this is worth it? I say YES, all day, everyday. Mark is using an AxeFX in this vid. however this is a patch the FM3 can easily emulate. This little device is designed for the untrained ear, who cannot tell the difference between Analog and Over processed Digital Audio. It will squash all you existing pedals on your board as well. It does not work well with ANY of my pedals.
Lol go ahead and spew your BS somewhere else are you leaving this on every ampero video? Lmao Yes because you have such a "trained" ear. Im sure you can "hear" the processing in the sounds your washing machine makes as it rumbles back and forth. How much the tone is affected by the hollow drywall and tile floor. If only you could maximize the tone and get a tube amp washer! Exactly three pairs of jeans in your washer and your tube amp washer will be the most organic, least processed sound ever. Of course, this could never be heard by the untrained ear.
Congratulations for the best Ampero Mini Review from all UA-cam!

Without question Matcha Green

can this be usb-c port powered by your phone in the same way TonexOne or PodExpress can?

Going through Amp cab effects
Layouts etc etc....
this thing seems pretty sick. i was looking at the hotone pulze that just came out but i recently got powered monitors so this would make more sense.
Can it be used as effects only if I wanted to use a different preamp pedal such as a Friedman IR-X? Can the amps and cab sims be bypassed?
Yes they can be switched off!
Should have got this out during yesterdays lesson pal, been dying to have a go with some tech would have stayed for hours!!!!!😜😜
