Thanks for the video! It helped confirm what I’m doing on the new gauge.

Where is the temperature sensor on the block connected to? Nice

The old temp sensor that is wired to the dashboard gauge is connected to the side of the block (between cylinders 1 and 3). But it does not work. I connected the new mechanical gauge to the front top of the intake manifold.

@@Rustrevivalgarage Biggest problem with the gauges is usually grounding or dirt. Personally, I like that original stock look so I just run new wires.

@@Laqota I doubt it. More than likely the old gauge. Or wiring. But the engine only had about 1k miles on it.

Why couldn’t the gauges be installed in the dash in place of the OEM gauges?
Couldn’t the old ones be removed and install the new ones in their places.?

It can be. The problem is the way they connect. The chevy c10 uses plug and play gauges, meaning you take out two tiny bolts, pull it out (Studs on the Gauge, and clamps that are connected to wires behind Gauge Plastic Piece), and put a new one in.
New Gauges just use wires from the internals so you'd have to run some short 1 inch 16 gauge wire to the clamps. You'd also have to make an adapter for it with some J-B Weld so it can bolt back on to the gauge plastic piece.
This is a lot more difficult than just running a few wires through the firewall and calling it good lol
